I took today off for my birthday and my parents decided to visit and we could go out to lunch. Well they are still coming but it decided to blizzard where they live. As you drive south, we have absolutely nothing so they got to leave the bad weather but still have to drive home later and Iβm worried about them making it ok.
My mom refused to cancel though because due to several different circumstances, we havenβt seen each other in person for 9 months.
I have my mammogram this afternoon. And immediately beforehand, and all hands meeting about gov shutdown. Yay Friday?
Tomorrow, Iβm fencing in a tournament that went from 6 people to 39 people in the past week π¬ And, it appears to be 80% college kids. And here I am Miss Almost-50 showing up π And then I think about georgeglass βs son, and I wonder if he will be there. π€£ That would be sooooo funny (she mentioned a week ago he has started fencing in a college club).
I just found out a seafood shack I love is open today, but not over the weekend. I'm trying to figure out if I want fish badly enough to fight Friday rush hour traffic to get take out tonight...

I'm going skiing today! it's been 3 weeks and am so looking forward to it - but tweaked my knee a few weeks ago so am going to be cautious. I'm jealous of all my friends on beach vacations for spring break!
We have spring break in a few weeks. DS just turned 15 and is signed up for a lifeguard course that runs 4 days of break from 9am-4pm. He's a little bummed it's cutting down his fun time but I'm so excited for him to have a job.
And he will be an awesome lifeguard! Plus out of the house and making $$
Lifeguarding is a good gig! Depending on your pool/lake, it can be stressful, but the money is good and my daughter parlayed it into teaching swim lessons and ultimately coaching a swim team. I hope your son has an awesome summer!
Wow I can't believe they risked an outdoor party at this time of year! DD1s birthday party is this weekend too. I've only done one outdoor party for her and I did it early April hoping for OK weather, and it was still too cold to be really enjoyable. I'd be so annoyed too, I don't like having plans up in the air like that.
It's a gamble for sure, but they play outside year-round at school so most of the kids are fine with a cold-weather playground party. We're in a city so apartments aren't really conducive at-home parties and at this age (5) it seems like most people try to be inclusive of the whole class. I finally heard back, they're keeping it outside and but moving it to Sunday (when it will be in the 30s, ha).Β
That makes sense! Especially for a whole class party (I still only invite family and our friends to my kids parties, I'm dreading having to include classmates haha)

Good luck fangoriagurkel,. That was a huge PITA when we cleaned my dad's place out. I need to clean out my bathroom closet as well, although I hope my stuff isn't as bad. Really trying to remember to only buy products when I'm running low or out, rather than have 2 back ups for some random future date.
Ugh I made a mistake this morning that came across as demanding (chat) rather than a gentle yes I'll do it, please follow up by doing x. It came up in a team meeting as something to everyone, but there was too much time spent on it. At least I wasn't called out direct, and it wasn't a federal offense, but is it time to go home?
On a positive note I looked at an upcoming concert list and Big D and the Kids Table is still active so I gave them a listen. Now I"m down a late 90's emo/ska rabbit hole and I don't hate it. Makes me think of this guy I almost dated in college who had ska in his screen name. I still peek at his FB every once and a while, lol.

DH gets home from Mexico late tomorrow afternoon. Grabbing takeout for the kids and me tonight, I'll even go to multiple places so everyone is happy, but I think it will only be 2 stops.
Last night's English homework for DS2 (7th grade) was to read a 115 page book and complete a front and back worksheet about it. He routinely reads 300 plus page books each week, but this was one night to read a book and do a paper. So obnoxious considering he also had math and social studies homework. We were lucky it wasn't a night he had an activity/sport. One night this week homework was done in only an hour (he'd gotten a bit done in study hall before coming home) and then to have a night like last night, just spread it out.
Tennis was so fun last night. A variety of ages was great. I did let out a little toot reaching for a backhand shot, so hopefully I just got the embarrassments out of me. My friend told me that's where the power comes from. π€£
The non profit Iβm president of is having a fun run tomorrow but only 20 people have registered. I am not sure why, there isnβt really many other events happening and spring break isnβt for another week.
Also there are 28 people on this board and I asked if anyone could cover an orientation I usually go to and crickets. I honestly do not believe that there is not one person who could go in my place.
The board switches over in June and I cannot wait to get rid of some of the dead weight.
My company sent out an email today informing us of layoffs. They offered a buy out in Dec and got about 4x more people take it than they were targeting, so I naively thought they wouldnβt be doing layoffs. It doesnβt seem to be affecting my department yet but now Iβm worried about future rounds.
I'm mapping out my Google Map pins for our Arizona trip, which starts Sunday. I didn't realize this was an option until today, but it's really a great way to keep all of your hotels, restaurants, and points of interest in one place rather than calling up the address the day of.
Also, I discovered via TikTok that if you text your flight number, ex. AA123 (American Airlines) becomes a link that you can open to find your gate and any updates on the flight status. Sweet, quick access...unfortunately, this only works with Iphones, I guess. Poor DH.
Keep your fingers crossed for me. ExH is supposed to sign the paperwork this morning so that I can close on my Refi this afternoon. If all goes well I will officially be done with him forever. And then can finally stop talking about it LOL
Not sure if this is a symptom of my raging ADHD or just my latest weird obsession, but I'm on my 3rd self-help book where instead of just taking notes in the margins or highlighting things, I am typing out a full-blown, very detailed outline.
It's not like there are 8 million other more pressing things that need my time, yet here I sit doing this.

I have been working all day so far on updating presentations which my downline was supposed to prepare before she went on vacation. She did maybe 10% of the updates, so I am stuck doing the rest because it needs to be done today. So that will be a fun conversation when she gets back from vacation.
I'm also salty that of all of DS's friends, supposedly not one had one seat available in a car to take him along to the girls' HS basketball semi-final game today. DH had plans already, and I'm working, so neither of us could take him. It just makes me feel sad when one of my kids is excluded.

I just got back from my hair appointment and had to drive home in a blizzard. WTF, spring. The roads were awful. I was doing 25mph on the highway.
I did decide to chop it. Got about 6-7 inches lobbed off. It feels so strange, but I do love it. I just hope I can recreate the cute waves she put in my hair. I think I need to get a thinner barrel curling iron or wand. H still hasn't seen it. He was on a call when I got home and then when he got off I was already down in the basement working. I'm about to go back upstairs to leave to go grab DS from school and he's on another call. He's going to be shocked when he sees it. I just told him I was going to get it colored. He loves my hair short, so I think he'll be all over me, LOL.

Yes, and if he is hired by own town pool, he gets the money back for the course! We have quite a few town outdoor pools, plus camps and country clubs around.
His idea is to save for a car by next year which is great because I'm just hoping we can afford the additional insurance by then, haha!
There is an ad right over the bottom navigation buttons AND the reply on the app. WTF!
Anyway Iβm off today and walked the dog, got groceries, fainted from the cost of food, then met DH to order decking for our pool pump enclosure, grabbed us lunch to go on the way home, now getting ready to get the kid and hit up the outlets tonight and give DH some alone time.
I feel bad how much solo parenting heβs been doing and I still have 2 more work trips planned. But he honestly doesnβt bat an eye and I ask if he wants solo time when Iβm home and he says no.
