I was on vacation last week and I saw a girl in a really cute cover up so I took a picture of her and reverse google image searched it and it turns out it was from Target in a past year, but I found it on Poshmark for $12 shipped and I love it. My stalker skills have paid off.
I looked up dog DNA tests today, because I really want to know what mix my dog is. I saw that they also have cat DNA test and I had to laugh because I've had my cat for almost 6 years and it's never occurred to me to wonder what breeds he is - he's just "cat". Now I've had my dog less than 3 months and I'm dying to know. Maybe I'll do both just for shits and giggles, though they are not super cheap so I may have to wait with so many actual expenses coming up in the near future. I didn't realize that they include health screenings so that's kind of a nice incentive to do both of them!
I have to fly out of LGA next week and I went to book a parking spot and somehow every option is either $200 OR has a shuttle only every 60 minutes (mcscuse me) with warnings that shuttles fill up quickly and may result in needing to wait an additional hour for the next shuttle. 😭
LGA is the worst. MH flew out of there and had to return a rental car and it took almost an hour for the shuttle to come. People started walking the streets of Queens with their luggage to get to the terminal. My parents live, on theory, equidistant from JFK and LGA and refuse to pick me up from LGA.
STOPPPPP. LOL Goddamnit.
Southwest only flies out of LGA so I had no choice but I'm pre-irritated.

I have to fly out of Logan in a couple of weeks and reserving parking NEVER occurred to me. Of course, now no reservations are available. It's been 10 years since I've flown and I am not looking forward to the experience...

Embark always goes on a good sale for Prime Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. If you're going to do a DNA test, I like their breed + health test. I'm skeptical of the accuracy of the breed part, but genetic markers for health conditions should be more straightforward to report on.
I have a fb friend from college who posts about her kids often. No problem except that she still measures the youngest ones age in weeks. This week she is 93 weeks old. Umm… what?!
I’m pretty sure someone else posted that 1 of their friends does this as well. They should be besties. Are they doing it as a joke? I would hope so!

We need a pic!
I am still mad I didn't ask a fellow mom about a dress she had on at last year's recital. I have never been able to find the same one.

It's usually such a nothing burger to park in a long-term lot and they usually have shuttles that run every 15 min. But I'm driving 2 hrs to LGA and flying with a kid, so I wanted to make my day as easy as possible. I ended up paying $200. :/
Try SpotHero! Just pay attention-- not every lot has a shuttle!

Like who wants to do that much math?!?! Not me!!
I had to run the math to the OP, lol. Math isn't that hard, especially if the kid is less than 2 years old, but who has the time to count the weeks rather than "my kid is 1.5+"?

Yeah, I'm not too concerned. Work is footing the bill so I don't need to worry about the cost. My priority is having the fastest route possible from the plane to my car. Once get on the road, I'll be an hour(ish) from being tackled by my dogs.

Does anyone have anti-glare, and/or blue light blocker on their glasses? I was able to pick up my new pair and I think they have blue light protector because there's a blue tint on the outside. I'm still getting use to them, but I see blue if I look at the correct angle, esp if I look in to the light. Just wondering if that's normal? Also now wondering if my clip on yellow glasses will be overkill?

Right? I'm lucky I know how many weeks are in a normal calendar year, no way am I going to be able to easily figure that out in regards to my kids age.

I don't notice anything when I'm looking through them, but from the right angle I can tell that they have a blue tint like in a mirror or on camera.

OMG why couldn't I have read this post a few days ago. I saw a woman in a really cute bathing suit that looked exactly like what I was looking for and supportive and she was similarly sized to me while I was on vacation last week, and I was trying to get up the courage to go up to her and say 'cute suit! what brand is it?' but chickened out. I totally could have done this though had I thought of it.

We did this for fun and it said my dog was a pretty wild mix. Our vet looked at the breed DNA results and just told us it was wrong.
Her former owner guessed her parents were a Greyhound and a Jack Russell Terrier and I think that's more accurate... Or at least reflects what she actually looks like!

you don’t need reserved parking at Logan you will be fine. Once the other year ( either February or April break so a huge travel travel week) central parking was full but they had workers there essentially valet parking. They were loading the cars in so you blocked people but you gave them your key so they could move cars as spots opened up. When we returned we just brought the card they gave us to the parking desk and they scanned it and told us where our car was parked. It was a shockingly efficient system for airport parking. We fly around 6 times a year and have never had trouble parking. Traffic is another issue lol
@jenkies - H got a call last week from a private company he applied to about a year ago. He thinks as he was applying Jan-march last year. He has been employed 6 months now. But I’ve was shocked it took them that long. So, yeah, private companies can take awhile. And the government, yeah. Just as long lol

Interesting! I wish I had done one on my fluffy mutt that I used to have - he was a true mixed breed so I would love to have had even a guess at what was in him!
My dog is definitely part poodle but he could be mixed with Maltese (the shelter's guess), schnauzer (the groomer's guess), or I recently met someone who has a cavapoo who looks so similar to him that now I suspect that. Or some kind of terrier. He doesn't seem quite as much of a true mutt as some dogs so I suspect he was some kind of designer dog, but also idk why someone would spend that kind of money to get a dog and then not neuter or microchip him, then either lose him and not look for him or dump him at a shelter claiming they found him as a stray. He is a little mystery.
He is 100% sweet, adorable, and well behaved so I have no idea how he ended up with us. Of course that can be said of most shelter dogs!
I'm in the office today. I broke down over the weekend and bought a new pair of jeans without trying them on and of course they are too tight, so I'm sitting at my desk with the button undone. Hopefully I don't forget next time I have to stand up.
I can't vouch for this trick but a rubber band through the button hole maybe can help you feel less....open?
My border collie is in deep trouble. She pulled down a half eaten pyrex dish of brownies off the counter. It smashed on the floor. We caught her before she actually ate anything, but, man. Pyrex is indestructible. This one was almost 18 years old!
Has anyone seen the (many many) news stories about the cruise passengers who were left behind in Africa when they didn't return to port on time?
If so, can you explain to me why this story is blowing up?
I have never (and probably never will) cruised, but even I know that the boat doesn't wait for you when you are off shore. I'm reading comments that apparently they *do* wait if you've done a cruise-sponsored tour, but these folks were not on a cruise-provided excursion.
Does one of them have a friend in the media??? Why am I seeing this on at least 3 different media outlets? It seems like it wouldn't be that uncommon? I'm confused.

I think that while it does happen, this was an extraordinary scenario where they were chasing the ship and then the ship didn't go to the next port. Just a comedy of (very expensive) errors.
I just spent a hour at Enterprise to not get a rental car. I AM LIVID. I have already filed a complaint online and found another car at another location to pick up tomorrow.
I took ds to start the process of braces today. He got a couple spacers and we go back in a week. He may have to get his last 2 baby teeth pulled before the braces can go on, but I'm guessing we'll find that out for sure next week. They have to submit the treatment plan to insurance so everyone cross all your fingers that everything (or almost everything) will be covered!

It’s totally weird it’s blown up since it’s not the cruise line that did anything wrong. I’m not a cruise expert (I’ve only been on 1 and that was 15 years ago) but they make it very clear that if you go on your own excursion you are taking the risk of the ship not being there if you are late. Sure, the ship was there but it’s like an airplane - once the cabin door is closed you’re out of luck - even if you’re standing at the gate. Plus, I’m sure there are tight timelines of other ships coming and the fines of not leaving when needed would be huge for the cruise line. Not to mention the 100’s/1000’s of people who were on the ship and ready to go.

OMG our school just sent out a message today that they are having a half day on Monday for the eclipse. Thankfully my kids have reached an age now where it's fine, but... oof. to be fair, the window for the eclipse is during dismissal, and I was surprised that they would assume the liability of a bunch of unsupervised kids on a bus staring at the sun. So it's probably for the best. I'm just surprised that they just now realized this.

Plus, you can't eat those brownies! [wilted]
I was extra mad about the brownies...they were the fancy, fudgy Ghirardelli ones!!
