I'm in the office today. I broke down over the weekend and bought a new pair of jeans without trying them on and of course they are too tight, so I'm sitting at my desk with the button undone. Hopefully I don't forget next time I have to stand up.
I swear my head is like whackamole. I keep thinking of work tasks that need to be done, and then something else pops up and I forget about the previous task. We're in the process of hiring someone to replace me in my previous role, and that cannot come soon enough. I know balls are being bobbled if not outright dropped, but I don't have the bandwidth to do it all (and my managment is aware that some stuff is temporarily not getting done and are ok with it).
My husband is super annoyed that he hasn't gotten his refund yet. I filed his taxes before the end of January, and where's my refund still just says received. I really don't understand what the hold up is. I filed after and got mine back super fast. Of course, he tried to call and can't get past the automated system.
I got to work really late today, but still somehow managed to leave the house without a lunch. I do not know how to office! I actually haven't been here in about 4 weeks though so it was time to finally show my face.
I noticed on my way into work the signs on the highway say "Key bridge closed" which I thought was a gross under exaggeration - that's the bridge that was completely brought down last week by a cargo ship. I guess I don't know if it would be better to say "bridge collapsed" or "gone" on the signs instead, though.

FI got the new job. Because of safety/security, they generally send you home from the boat ASAP. A coworker took FI and all his stuff partway home last night and then I picked him up. Because of traffic delays, he had to wait at a gas station for almost an hour. So he was sitting at the gas station, with 3 bags of stuff, still wearing his work clothes (boots, jeans, safety shirt, etc) and he got two job offers, one of them from a carnival that was in town!

My homeownership experience thus far:
1) We get an estimate that comes in far under the price we anticipated to fix something we knew was broken. I feel a wave of relief for 48 hours. 2) Something else breaks that we didn’t anticipate and we’re out thousands of dollars anyway.
Rinse and repeat until I die, because we bought this house in a fantastic neighborhood seven years ago and can’t afford to move, lol.
I scheduled a routine breast MRI for today. I've been putting it off. I psych myself up, get there, fill out paperwork, change. Aaaand, was then notified that the machine went down, and they don't know when it will be back up. I'm waiting around for a little while because I already took the day off, but omg.
In January, over the course of a few weeks, I applied to three different jobs at a major international company with a location near me.
The application system is all automated through their website, and I received rejections from the first two within a week or two of applying.
The final job, I applied to on January 31. I have heard nothing, but my application is still listed as pending. Is there any chance that they haven't actually started interviews for this job yet? I was pretty hopeful when I wasn't auto-rejected within 2 weeks. But now it's two months later, so I'm assuming they've moved on and just didn't update the system for that listing. Whomp whomp.
I also applied to a government job around the same time. For that one, I'm assuming I might hear from them sometime between now and 2027. LOL.

It could mean anything! Either they are busy hiring for the other two positions and haven’t gotten around to reviewing resumes for the third one, they are delaying hiring until the project starts or they never updated it.

Don’t you hate it when you take a shower and then have to run around like a maniac? I feel like the George Constanza but when he said his shower didn’t “take”
W.T.Faulkner, I have never, ever, in 15 years of home ownership, had a single bid come in under the price I anticipated so I would still count that as a win, lol.

I'm really losing it today.
I completely forgot about a meeting with a client and when I realized 20 minutes after it was supposed to start, I ran to grab a sweater, leaving my breakfast for the dog to spill and eat.
Then the septic company was here replacing our filter and let me know that our tank is way too full and should have been pumped.... a long time ago.

Anyone else seeing long delays like this?
This isn’t uncommon for MFS returns. He could have a different credit or fall into a different category. Keep monitoring. I have seen people waiting upwards of 12 weeks before.
Another lament on home ownership. Last night before bed I turned on the dishwasher before heading upstairs to bed like normal. Came down this morning and it's displaying an error code so that's fun. H didn't notice when he was in the kitchen before he left which isn't unusual because he could care less about having a dishwasher and would wash dishes by hand if left to him. But I couldn't remember the brand name and it is not displayed on the machine so I messaged H when I got to the office so I could Google the error code. Could be a leak or could be a stuck valve but there were videos claiming an easy fix so hopefully it is and H can take care of it when he gets home. The good thing is that we've only have it since July so if it's bigger it's still under warranty but what a pain because of course it's FULL full LOL.
My niece is hopefully going to have her baby today! She's at the hospital now and I'm hoping for her sake it's not a multi day labor like her son was. Exciting!

sadie I hope the machine is fixed quickly and you can get on with your day.
jinkies, I thought only Higher Ed was slow with the hiring process, but my still sort of new corporate job took forever. Like I applied in Jan and I had my first day at the very end of April, with only about 2 - 3 weeks between offer and start date. Hopefully they're just slow and you start to get a lot of interviews and offers.

I guess this is part of the 40+ club, but getting up to pee at least twice a night isn't working for me. I'll admit the volume of water I drink in a day isn't consistent (higher/lower), but last night I had to get up 3 times, then woke up 45 minutes before my alarm. Let me sleep, please! Moving forward I'll have to find the sweet spot of when to stop drinking liquid, but I like one seltzer with dinner and that's up to 12 oz if I drink the whole thing.
I go to get an estimate at the body shop and they think I’m dropping off. So ok, decide to drop off.
Rental company called DH, who was like “she’s at the body shop at 11.” And they apparently cancelled the rental because DH didn’t have time at work, right that second.
So I’m here with no rental and no car. My mom is nearby and coming to get me when her meeting is over and then I’m supposed to have a car after 1pm, so we’ll go when DH gets home at 3:30 because the rental place closes at 5.

Between this and the rain, my commute was an hour and twenty minutes this morning.
I have a fb friend from college who posts about her kids often. No problem except that she still measures the youngest ones age in weeks. This week she is 93 weeks old. Umm… what?!
A student sent me an email this morning that started with "Hey girl!" 🫠 Bffr.
W.T.Faulkner Our kitchen renovation (38k) was paid off 3 days before we needed an emergency replacement of our furnace (17k). I will die inside this house.
I have to fly out of LGA next week and I went to book a parking spot and somehow every option is either $200 OR has a shuttle only every 60 minutes (mcscuse me) with warnings that shuttles fill up quickly and may result in needing to wait an additional hour for the next shuttle. 😭

I appreciate the commitment to the bit! I’m 2,328 weeks old myself.

LGA is the worst. MH flew out of there and had to return a rental car and it took almost an hour for the shuttle to come. People started walking the streets of Queens with their luggage to get to the terminal. My parents live, on theory, equidistant from JFK and LGA and refuse to pick me up from LGA.

I had to unfollow someone who did the same thing. Her kid was 6 years old.
Patsy Baloney, congrats! I, too, just finished taking my Greenbelt exam for Six Sigma. I was SO STRESSED and spent hours studying, and I got a 90%. WOOOOO!

Oh no, that sucks! I come from the west so mine was longer than usual with the rain but not as bad as I've been hearing from others. I hope that doesn't continue to be an issue for you!
DS called from the nurse because he was coughing while at gym (outside). He laid it on thick and asked to come home....obviously, not happening.
Then I just got a nurse report e-mailed to me that he went to the nurse again because he hit heads with another kid at recess. I am going to HEAR IT when I pick him up today, omg.
