Currently chilling in the infusion lab. My doctorâs office called me at 6:30pm Saturday evening and didnât leave a voicemail. I called them right back at like 6:36pm and the answering service said theyâd return the call but never did so I guess maybe it was nothing?
Yesterdayâs Easter egg hunt at church was so much fun! Iâm child free so this is like my only chance to do kid stuff and Iâm a much better egg hider than I thought I would be.
My PICC line ârewardâ should be arriving today! I treated myself to a Brahmin âChelcyâ backpack in grey and Iâm already in love with it!
No plans this afternoon but I already want a nap. My tote bag which I carry my charger, some magazines, etc⊠while Iâm in the lab says âRead books, not bagsâ and two people have separately complimented it. Thank you Barnes & Noble, for making me look cool! đ
First day back to work after being on vacation for a little over a week (spring break). I had a 5:30 am call, so it was hard to get up for that. I also slept like crap, and got maybe 4 hours of sleep total. Hoping the week will go quickly.
After reading the pre eclipse thread I ran out this morning to get capri suns, sun chips and half moon cookies. Kids have a half day (which is only two hours), just getting some work done before they're back and the eclipse begins.
Summer camp and recital tickets opened today. I got my kid signed up for the 2 art camps she wanted. I knew those wouldn't be full.
I need DH to decide if he wants to invite MIL to the recital. I'm not sure if he's asking speaking to his mom again yet or not, nor do I care, just need to know the # of tickets to buy.
I sent out information interview invites last Wednesday. One person responded Saturday after I had filled the time slots. I can be flexible, but this person hasn't been great with the whole recruitment process, so I'm wondering if they would be a good candidate when timely responses are important.
School drop off was a ghost town this morning. It seemed like at least half the kids are out for the eclipse. I'm still trying to figure out my plan, there are a few local viewing parties but I may just go down to after school and watch with the kids there.
Five days until we leave for Punta Cana! I cannot freaking wait.
Last night I went for a walk and passed by a wedding party taking photos outside their venue. I stopped to look around at other stuff and noticed one of the bridesmaids pull the photographer aside and do a series of photos of just her by a quite lovely cherry blossom tree near where I was standing. She texted the guy her number and asked him to send her a few so she could use them as headshots.
I don't know where the bride and groom were during this but I was AGHAST. The audacity!
Drove home from spring break yesterday and I'm WFH today since the kids will be home for the eclipse by lunchtime.
We spent last week in Gulf Shores, my dad has a condo there and we've been a few times over the years. Wouldn't be my first choice, but usually it's pretty relaxing and we have a lot of other travel planned this year.
I think this was the last time we will drive it. It's *only* 11 hours, but every single time we've driven, SOMETHING happens, either on the way there or the way back which usually involves a 20+ mile detour through the backroads of Alabama.
We left to come home Saturday morning and had a planned break in the trip, spending the night in Nashville. It took nearly 9 hours to get there from Gulf Shores. That's an extra two hours. Then yesterday, it took 6.5 to get home, a bonus of 2.5 hours. Both ways I had kids on the edge of throwing up for various reasons (too much candy and motion sickness from screens aka NOT listening to mom) plus the fighting of three kids in an SUV for hours on end and I am just over it. No more driving vacations.
@jenkies I have a question for you, since our Hs work in similar facilities. He has a uniform that he changes into in a locker room, with showers. So he is not wearing his own clothing to work. But I keep getting onto him about him stinking. Last night, we determined itâs his hoodie. It seems just sitting in the locker room itâs soaking up a smell. And itâs a weird smell. Not what you would expect, and not B.O, but definitely has unpleasant notes. And H canât smell it, so I am pretty sure itâs facility related. Do you have this problem and any suggestions?
On the plus note, we have passed the 6 month probationary period. And H had agreed to give it six months. And he has said he is content and not actively looking.
In a true random, I woke up with New Moon on Monday stuck in my head. Not quite an eclipse song, but moon and Monday. Lol.
People keep referencing Twilight and the eclipse and I have realized that I am just old because I did not put those together because I never read the books and or saw the movies.

I had a pretty packed but good weekend. Saturday afternoon the gym I co-own celebrated our 7th anniversary with a barbecue, and I was reminded how exhausting I find it still post-pandemic to socialize with acquaintances.
Yesterday morning I had my bachelorette party - I had said I preferred girly time to crazy party time, and we did a spa morning that was sooooo nice! We had time in the sauna/steam room/jacuzzi area where we were all together chatting, then a little snack and sparkling wine time, and then we each got a massage. It was truly perfect! Then yesterday afternoon we hosted FI's aunt and uncle who arrived from Norway.
Slightly worried that the weather forecast for Saturday, which was originally perfect - high 70s and sunny - has now dipped to high 60s and possibility of rain. For our 100% outdoor wedding. So. Please feel free to cross fingers, say prayers, whatever you do, that we don't end up cold and wet!
I had 82 stress dreams last night and kept waking up feeling upset and worried. Now I keep thinking about the dreams and have to remind myself that they didn't actually happen - no, my cell phone isn't smashed; no, my kid's teacher didn't yell at me; no, some random parent isn't mad about an e-mail I sent....and on and on....
Iâm taking the kids out of school early for the eclipse. Their school is doing activities, but Iâd prefer we are together.
DH and I finished The Diplomat last night. It was so so good. I canât wait for the next season. It was funny and moved quickly, but my favorite part is how she gave no fucks. Her hair was stringy, she wasnât into fashion. Given how Keri Russelâs hair during Felicity was so huge, I especially like how this show plays into her priorities on looks. She, of course, is beautiful even with stringy hair.

Iâve been babysitting my 16mth old niece since Thursday night. Iâm exhausted! LOL My kids are 16 months apart, so the fact that at one time I had a 16mth old and a newborn is mind boggling.
My niece also happens to blind and itâs so amazing to see how she has adapted. Sheâs so sweet and fun and I hope the world is kind to her as she grows up.
I went this morning and got the mammogram that I had been dreading. Usually they bring me to tears because it hurts so much. I took ibuprofen beforehand and apparently that's the magic trick I need -- it was only mildly uncomfortable.
This is only like my third annual one, it took a couple for me to figure out that I absolutely do need pain meds in order for this routine thing to not be excruciating. But I feel so much better about them now that I know it doesn't have to be painful.
emilyinchile, OMG yay you are getting married on Saturday! I am so excited for you. I hope the weather cooperates and it is a beautiful day for you! I remember having similar worries about my wedding (lots of rain in the forecast) and the morning was overcast but the afternoon cleared up and it all turned out great. I am sure yours will too!
Well we had a terrifyingly eventful morning. I woke up at 4:15am to my 10yo screaming "GET OUT! FIRE! GET OUT OF THE HOUSE!"
My husband has a 4-wheeler/ATV that we store underneath our deck during the winter. Apparently a mouse or something chewed through the wires and the ATV started on fire. Thank our lucky stars my husband wakes up really early for work and noticed a smoke smell after he got out of the shower. Flames were shooting up through our deck and he was able to scream to wake up our 10yo, who then came and got his brother and I. H was able to turn the hose back on (turned off for the winter) and put the fire out before the fire engine got to our house.
I have never been more thankful in my life for a dreary rainy day all day yesterday and the fact that my husband's alarm goes off at 3:30am. Because if that wood was dry and we were all asleep in bed, who knows how bad it would have gotten. Instead, we are all safe and only have a damaged deck instead of the house.
meanie, OMG I had a stress dream night, too. About 2am I finally took a xanex to sleep, because I was edging in on a panic attack.
We havenât been able to travel much for the past few years, between Covid, Hâs unemployment, and our dog, who is difficult to find a sitter for. The first two issues are over, and we are just left with the dog. I had a solution for the dog, involving renting out basement apartment to a friend. H and I talked about it for a week, and I thought he was on board, so I booked two trips. And then, last night H gave a final answer of no. And now, I have two international trips. And nothing I can depend on with the dog. đ« the first one is 6 months off. But, you know, it kept me up all night.

Glad he is content! I was thinking about you recently because I thought I remembered that your H had hurt himself a while ago and it led to him questioning his job. Glad he is doing well!
H's job has a laundry service, so his dirty clothes generally don't come home. We haven't noticed an issue with clean clothes picking up a smell from the locker room, but I don't think their locker room is in the same building as any of the work areas.
Could you set up a laundry basket in the garage for any items that have been to work? Or just have hooks in the garage for coats/hoodies that go to work but don't get washed after every use?
WFH today and feeling completely unable to get my brain engaged- this is why I really prefer to be in the office on Mondays. I'll probably switch to annual training and making my packing list for an upcoming work trip....

Maybe get a box of baking soda for his locker?
Last week I pushed the bookcase in my home office aside to let my new robot vacuum clean under. Now any time I walk in my office something is making a noise. I'm guessing the bookcase had a shim under one of the back legs that got lost while moving it. The bookcase houses a bunch of precarious stuff (mostly Lego builds, some framed art/photos), so I really can't put a shim in by myself. It's slowly driving me nuts.
Probably an UO, but I am not into watching the livestream eclipse today. DS will be doing activities with his school/daycare, DD will be sent home at dismissal with a pair of glasses from the school. DD has a makeup voice lesson during the eclipse so I texted the voice teacher to confirm the lesson will still be happening. Voice teacher wrote back yes and she doesn't particularly care for the eclipse either but they might go outside for a minute or two during the main time if it's noteworthy.
Apparently there have been a few other eclipses in my lifetime. I don't remember where I was or if I attempted watching any of them. I feel like for one we might have tried but didn't see anything significant so we gave up.
