Yes. I’ve seen very few people who are calling for Biden to exit the race who are also calling for Harris (the logical choice and the most qualified candidate) to step in instead. They’re worried Biden won’t finish his term and we will have a Black and Asian woman president. It’s racism with a side of misogyny.

This is not surprising at all. Covid level are high in multiple locations across the US and they are trying to pretend Covid does not exist. They are not trying to prevent transmission. If they were, all senior officials/staff/etc would have started wearing respirators when the 2nd Gentleman tested positive. None of that happened.

The administration continues to disappoint and is an embarrassment when it goes to Covid. The only surprise is they admitted Biden has it.

The big picture: Only a handful of Democrats have the influence to persuade Biden to quit — starting with Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

In at least one conversation since the debate, Pelosi conveyed to Biden and his campaign the political peril that Democrats face if he remains atop the ticket.
Schumer had a "blunt one-on-one conversation" with Biden on Saturday, in which Schumer "forcefully made the case that it would be best if Biden bowed out of the race," ABC News' Jon Karl reported.

The intrigue: Those interventions came last week, but didn't leak out until yesterday.

Late last night, The New York Times reported that Biden "has become more receptive" to hearing arguments about why he should drop out — even asking questions about how Vice President Harris could win.


Then came news the Democratic National Committee is delaying its plan to nominate Biden in a virtual roll call weeks before the Aug. 19 convention, following backlash from rank-and-file Democrats who want more time to address concerns about the president's age.


Semafor reported that Hollywood mogul Jeffrey Katzenberg, co-chair of the Biden campaign, privately told the president in Las Vegas yesterday that donor cash is drying up.


House Speaker Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) has conveyed his own private warning to Biden, as many of his Democratic members have expressed fears of the down-ballot impacts of a Trump landslide.

They can’t sub in anyone, including Harris. Delegates are currently bound to Biden because he won the primary.

Now, if he steps aside, which he has repeatedly said he will not do, then we would head to an open convention if the delegates couldn’t coalesce behind a single candidate, which would be chaotic, confusing, and absolutely contested by Republicans. We would absolutely 100% lose under these circumstances.

No, primaries are non-binding because they're run purely by the parties. A party can nominate whoever they want outside of the primary votes.

No, this isn't true. Primaries are just a show of good faith within the party themselves.

The primary serves as a measure of public opinion but is not necessarily binding in choosing delegates. Sometimes the Party does not recognize open primaries because members of other parties are permitted to vote.

No, I am not. I am saying the primaries in 2024 were in no way fair, democratic, or reflective of what most people wanted. 

This is not just about the debate. I think he's done a great job & surrounded himself by people who have done a great job. I don't think he's the best candidate to beat Trump. I think the Dems should be shouting from the rooftops all that the Biden-Harris administration has done, and that the Dems need to win in the white house & congress to keep delivering on their campaign promises.

what I think the dems should REALLY be shouting about is Project 2025. particularly the veteran stuff. that might sway a lot of right-leaning people and undecideds.
