She is my governor and I love her. However, I think an all woman ticket (assuming Harris gets the nomination) is a lot to ask for. I want to be wrong but I think there is just too much misogyny in the country. I worry about the possibility of getting one woman elected but two…
He is brilliant and lovely and could take anyone in a debate. I won’t be mad if she picks him. Just not as confident that we will win.
I love me some Mayor Pete but I think she has to pick Josh Shapiro. Pennsylvania is a must-win.
It’s hard to consider what all is needed. I’m a PA resident. PA is the only state with a split legislature (house is D, senate is R). Shapiro won by 14 points in 2022, but he ran against Doug Mastriano, who couldn’t get out of his own way (which is why Fetterman only won by about 3 points in that same election). Shapiro is also a former attorney general (and former commissioner of my county!). It would be cool to say I vote for both Harris and Shapiro when they were still in state government.
But we also NEED to keep a Dem gov here. So maybe Mark Kelly is a good choice since Katie Hobbs can appoint a new dem to his seat. Similarly I don’t want to lose the Dem governors in NC or KY.

I’m not a fan of Harris getting the nom but I think that’s what’s happening. I can dream.

Cooper is not up for re-election (term limits) in NC, so he would be an ok choice.

Snubbing the Vice President would be political suicide.

LFG!!! I kept hearing chatter of the last few days that this was happening, and I just couldn’t believe it until it actually did!! We have a path forward, it will be crazy and chaotic, but we have a chance of beating Trump now.
My preference for VP is whoever is easiest to replace in their current role. So Cooper is interesting. Buttigieg is not in elected office. Mark Kelly is certainly interesting and could be replaced by appointment. IDK, just whoever is dynamic and isn’t going to screw dems over in replacement.

Honestly, this is what I voted for four years ago. Biden to come in a bring back the calm after a crazy Presidency and to prep someone to take his place after four years.

I agree. There’s also Pritzker from IL, I don’t think IL is in danger of having an R governor…right? He’s also rich like whoa and could provide some coffers. As much as I can’t stand billionaire money in our elections, we have to play the game I guess.

Don’t you take our Big Boy. I will miss him too much!
IL is not in danger of a turn red. Our R party is a joke. Rauner (Ruiner) and his legacy made em trump-chasing chumps that nobody wants.

Haha, yes! Pritzker needs to stick around IL a bit longer.
But I would be excited if she picks him. She won’t. But he’s great. I fully approve of him pursuing the presidency or the vice presidency at some point.
Do you know how people said it would take a long long time for Democrats to nominate a woman again after we had our hearts broken in 2016? Seeing the people lining up behind Kamala right now makes me all teary and emotional. We can't fuck this up.

I’m so excited for this, we have to win. I have a good friend who is Indian America and she feels represented. I am a child free woman and I feel represented. I think there are so many people that can feel represented (women, Asian, black, child free, young-ish) by Kamala, we just all need to rally and make it happen. LFG!

I'm still shocked we might have a president with a very traditional Indian name. She's not "Kamala but you can call me Kam." She straight up owns her name.
Sorry to add a sour note here, I have mostly avoided the racist tweets today but I know the floodgates will open soon. Between Kamala and Usha Vance, the racists have a broad range of attacks on Indian and South Asian immigrants from both sides. I know I'm preaching to the choir here but don't let the casual comments and jokes slide. If there was a time for intersectional feminism, it is now.
I’m just so annoyed with the Democratic Party. They have NO plan. The second trump won in 2016, they needed to start formulating a plan that didn’t rely on a (at the time) 73 year old man to win the next TWO elections. 2020, sure, fine. That worked out. But they should have been lining someone younger up who could bring the right energy to 2024 instead of this last minute panic move 4 months out.
I sit solidly here and it’s what sits in the corner of my mind when I wonder if the Dems can pull this off. How could we know the age of the President and not have been pushing Harris forward knowing that things could change at any moment. How can we win an election without this foresight and strategy. I can’t wait to be proved wrong!!
I do pray for Biden and I hope he’s able to enjoy his family. I think he’s the rare politician who is a good human. He seems to be truly loved by his family and I would be shocked that Jill and his kids and grandkids would have let him go into the debate knowing that he had a medical diagnosis that would impact his performance or that they would “let” him run knowing there was a bigger issue at play. But maybe I underestimate the political machine.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

Now this surprised me.
I have a friend I have known for a long time - probably 25 years. He is a rough around the edges white guy who has never posted anything offensive, but always struck me as deeply Republican. He’s from small town Maine and tonight he posted that he was excited to have someone he felt good about voting for.
If this guy is excited, I am hopeful that we will see a big blue wave.

I don't go to the place with the tweets. What are they trying to say? They're not going to find much on either of these 2 and their families except that they're a bunch of tax paying rule followers and their kids became lawyers rather than doctors.

I don't really want to repeat or screenshot the grossness. Trust me, it's disgusting.
Is it possible Biden's next move is to step down at a carefully calculated time thus making her president? I think someone else mentioned this earlier in the thread.
