Is it possible Biden's next move is to step down at a carefully calculated time thus making her president? I think someone else mentioned this earlier in the thread.
I don’t think so. First of all, it would be giving into the the republicans — Johnson has already called for it. HCR made a point of this today too — dropping out allows Biden to finish his term as President not candidate. No one can accuse him of doing things to get re-elected.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
I don't think I realized the anxiety I was carrying related to Biden being in a debate again, or just doing any public speaking. As this day has gone on I realize what I'm feeling is relief, and then excitement.
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus
I’m so excited for this, we have to win. I have a good friend who is Indian America and she feels represented. I am a child free woman and I feel represented. I think there are so many people that can feel represented (women, Asian, black, child free, young-ish) by Kamala, we just all need to rally and make it happen. LFG!
I'm still shocked we might have a president with a very traditional Indian name. She's not "Kamala but you can call me Kam." She straight up owns her name.
And TFG insists on mispronouncing it. It’ll be interesting to see if Vance follows suit (his wife is Indian).
All I want to hear from the media now is that Trump is an old criming, rapist, racist piece of shit. He rambles, he spews crazy nothing else.
Yeah, he spews more crazy on his best day than Biden on his worst, but I think some people didn't want to sound hypocritical or highlight Biden's potential medical struggles when calling out Trump's ridiculous rambling that is just who he is. Having a younger, energetic, quick thinker/good speaker to compare to Trump is fantastic. I can't even really get mad about the lack of a real primary because if this had happened in December or early 2024, Democrats may have spent the last six months infighting right up to June while Trump basically had the R nomination sewn up for months. (Obviously it's always preferable for people to choose their nominee in an election, but I think it would have been a huge distraction in this particular situation and too much energy spent tearing down other Democrats instead of focusing on tearing down Trump.)

Also, if the way The NY Times treated Biden didn’t cause you to cancel your subscription (not to mention all the other shit they’ve pulled) you should definitely cancel now. They have already published an article with the headline that Democrats are in disarray and that Harris is out of her depth
This was great. Everyone should watch this. I especially appreciated it since she stood where I was standing and is impressed by how well everything is coalescing.

F them! She's been VP. She has experience well beyond Trump when he became president. The freaking paper is owned by people who are SCARED of her and Dems in power. I know my parents will be upset about all of this as they are lifelong NYT subscribers, but I'll ask them to move to a different paper. Again.
I might rethink my strategy. I had one unplanned vacation day left left and since I get Election Day off, I just threw it on that Monday so I would have a long weekend. I’m thinking I might change it though and take the day after Election Day off so I can stay up and watch the results come in and (hopefully) celebrate a historical moment.

I think it’s unlikely that we will have results on the same day. With mail-in ballots and absentee ballots, we may never have election-night results again. I think that’s a good thing! Counting every ballot and making sure that the election runs without a hitch is more important than knowing the result on the same day.
Having said that, I need to teach on Tuesday and Thursday, but I’m seriously considering taking Wednesday off….

Maybe Kamala can make a point that Trump can’t even remember how to pronounce her name. But his bully cult followers probably admire that about him anyway.
I have a Trumper sister in law. On the very rare occasions I speak to her, I think I will mis pronounce her name too.

I love how the NYTimes calls for cancellation cycle through. I fell for it the first time, but I will be keeping my subscription. Sometimes I need to be punched in the face with how my views are different than others. Reuters does a good job of that, too, with just how free of bias they are.

Petty me hope she addresses him as "Drumpf" when he inevitably "slips" and mispronounces her name.
Also, I wonder what give-no-fucks Biden will look like. I remember quite liking give-no-fucks Obama!
I know I am late here, but I woke up with dread/anxiety over the last few weeks since the debate. Like a lot of you, I went from more dread to slightly hopeful by the end of the day yesterday.

Which article?
I canceled over a year ago and don’t have access, but one is an article by Erin Schaff entitled “Vice President Kamala Harris was often derided as out of her depth. Now she could lead the Democratic ticket.” Additionally, their first headline in the Live Updates section after the announcement lamented how Democrats are in disarray.

So you didn't actually read the article? Erin Schaff, when I click on her name after searching it in the NYTimes, is a photographer.

I wouldn’t call the NYT unbiased, but agree on Reuters and APNews.
Ok, but again, did you read the article? I can gift it if you want to read it.
The article states everything that has been talked about in the D party - She's been quiet as VP, she stumbled on a few key issues, her polling has been as bad as Biden's.
The "out of her depth" quote:
After a first two years in office in which Ms. Harris was often derided as out of her depth, many Democrats have given her higher marks more recently. The Supreme Court decision overturning the right to abortion enshrined in Roe v. Wade led her to step out as a prominent advocate for abortion rights and women’s rights more generally. She was seen as more effective at defending Mr. Biden after his disastrous debate performance than Mr. Biden was himself.

Not relevant, but did ya'll know Kamala's father is DONALD J. harris???
Anyway--I'm super excited. I'm ready to chant HARRIS FOR PRESIDENT to anyone who will listen. Excited to hear who she selects as her running mate. Let's get pumped up, guys!
I am heartened by two people I know messaging me to say how excited they are that our daughters may see a female president. I honestly thought both are Trumpers.

I’m so excited that it’s hindering my work at my actual job, lol
