"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
Axios mentioned this morning the campaign was pushing donors to contribute ASAP because of some rule related to donations toward Governors. If she selects a governor, they can't donate more??? Don't know if it's a clue or a red herring.
Harris will appear at campaign event in Philly on Tuesday with her running mate. Could that supposed be a clue?
Do you know any info about this? I'd like to go!
So far they haven't released where/what time. But I just signed up here to help the campaign - and since I checked I want to go to events, I'm hoping that's where that info will come out.
Today was the soft deadline for her to announce, as they're doing a virtual roll call for the delegates starting tomorrow. The hard deadline is the 7th.
I just got an email from the Harris Campaign with the subject My VP Pick. The body of the email included “I have not yet made my decision” then went on to explain why I should donate more money.

I think its Beshear.
But while I might have some favorites, her short list was all perfecty reasonable. No real headscratchers. She could pick anyone on that list and will not have stepped in it.

I agree that she had a great list of options. I would vote for her regardless, but I think Shapiro’s previous support of school vouchers would hurt in states like Arizona, Wisconsin, and Iowa. (Don’t count Iowa out…we voted for Obama once, and lots of people are fired up against how the current legislature is killing our state.)
How exciting is it that we have SO MANY great VP options! For the first time in years I’ve felt optimistic about the future of our party. We just needed the olds to step aside and look at all of our great options!
And look at Trump’s options. Nobody. JD Vance (!). Can’t hold a candle to the D options.

Hell, the republicans don't even like JD Vance :-)
They all have something for and against them. School vouchers might not hurt Shapiro in parts of WI, where Scott Walker (ew) gutted teacher pay rules so badly that rural schools are suffering even more than they already did.

My top two are Kelly and Walz.
I'm hearing rumblings that if it's Shapiro, a lot of folks are either going to hold their nose/not vocally support and vote only, or not vote at all due to his comments regarding pro-Palestine protesters.

This is exactly what I was worried about, and why I hope she doesn’t pick Shapiro.

I swear to all that is holy, if I get another fundraising text/email from the Harris campaign TEASING the VP pick and then not telling me who it is, I will personally hack the DNC’s email server to find out who the pick is gonna be. 🤣
After reading a Yahoo article this morning, I'm realizing that of course she's picking Shapiro. Not just because it's PA (which she NEEDS), but specifically *because* of his strong pro-Israel stance.
She doesn't need to convince us to vote for her, we're already locked in. She needs to convince the Independents and moderates to vote for her.
Neither Shapiro or Kelly are 100% flawless choices, in the last couple of days I have been more concerned about that AZ Senate seat opening up in 2026, it's not a guarantee we could find another strong Democrat for it. Kelly is a unicorn in this state, he could have a career like McCain's and hold it for the rest of his life if he wants.
I do wish Shapiro had more governing experience, but my impression is he is a better speaker than Kelly which is helpful too.
But Kelly is pro 2A and also has complained about border issues lately. So I don't know. UGH.

See, I'm not convinced that a strong pro-Israel stance is something that will appeal to independents. It seems to me that it will alienate younger Dem/liberal voters while not really impressing many indies either. A lot of the friction inside the party that was tanking Biden's campaign came from younger voters who see him as enabling genocide. Harris has been stronger in condemning Israel's behavior lately so I think that's actually helping her win younger voters.

Yeah. This would seem to be not reading the room. The U.S. government is already "pro Israel" and maybe I’m out of touch/in a bubble, but it doesn’t seem like there are extensive calls for Biden or Harris to be more pro Israel.
