Trump Says Americans ‘Won’t Have to Vote Anymore’ If He Wins
He’s telegraphing his authoritarian intentions in plain sight.
Yesterday, former President Donald Trump told a group of supporters that they won’t have to vote again if they elect him to the presidency. “You won’t have to do it anymore,” Trump said at the Turning Point Believers’ Summit in Florida. “It’ll be fixed; it’ll be fine; you won’t have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians.”
Trump’s remarks represent an extraordinary departure from democratic norms in the United States—rarely, if ever, has a major party’s presidential candidate directly stated his aim to make elections meaningless, a notorious hallmark of autocracy.
When I first heard this, I thought it was megalomania - if he isn’t running, then who cares?
However - looking at the full quote and context, I think this asshole has gone in for full false messiah and is implying the Christians won’t need to vote becuase he’s bringing on the rapture.
A Trump trying to start Armageddon scares me at least as much as one who wants to be the next Putin
It's insane. And I was listening to CNN in the car and the republicans were making excuses for him "No...what he meant was that they wouldn't need to vote for HIM because he can't run again". I'm pretty sure it was that fucker Scott Jennings, but not 100%.
Anyway--stop making excuses for him. He said what he said.
Also---"my beautiful christians" WTF LOL Does anyone like being talked to like that?
MONDAY: We have big plans next week regarding #Project2025. Starting Monday we're going to be breaking down the 900-page document piece by piece, including how it would give Donald Trump the power to put in place an authoritarian government to take away many of your rights. See you at 7 pm ET on MSNBC, #reiders.
Legal Bills are declining, but these numbers are still staggering... Axios
Former President Trump's Save America PAC has paid at least $83 million to 80+ law firms and individual attorneys representing him and current and former aides since January 2022, FEC records show. --------------------------------
A new report shows that the Save America political action committee paid about $827,000 in June for Trump’s legal bills — the first time a monthly total has dipped below $1 million in two years. The Trump-aligned PAC has shelled out an average of nearly $4 million a month on such costs since July 2022, most of it on defending the former president in criminal and civil cases, according to an Associated Press analysis of campaign finance records.
It means he is planning to dismantle our democracy. Why no one seems to believe him is a suprise to me so many years into this nonsense.
It makes no sense. One of the R's in my life doesn't want to vote for Trump because of his position on Ukraine. Great! But they didn't want to vote for Biden. And I said that a vote for anyone other than Biden (this was weeks ago) was a vote for Trump and they said they couldn't do that. I followed it up with "Well--if you don't vote for Biden this will likely be the last election". And they laughed and told me I was full of bologna. He has said it so many times....WHY DO YOU NOT BELIEVE HIM!?!?!?!
To Trump Voters: Why do you like him and want to vote for him?
MAGA : He says what he means !
To Trump Voters: This is a quote from Trump and a video evidence of a speech he gave with prepared remarks in front of a camera. Trump said he wants to be a dictator.
MAGA : That's not what he meant !
To Trump Voters: This are several quotes from Trump and video evidence of a speeches he gave with prepared remarks in front of a camera. Trump said elections are rigged, only votes for him count, and if elected, you will never have to vote again.
(Also, this is just for fun, I know it’s not getting any traction)
To Trump Voters: Trump said on camera and in written statements released by his campaign that he was shot by a would-be assasin, he took a bullet, specifically that it pierced his ear and went through twice. In photographs taken 2 weeks later, his ear has no damage or marks. Multiple credible medical reports at the time stated he received no stitches for his ear after the incident. Trump authorized no medical records to be released regarding the scope of the injuries, tests, or results. How do you reconcile his statements regarding his injury?

i can see the glue patch on the recent photos. It’s small and discrete (and translucent) but it looks like what our doctor/ER gives kids for shallow facial cut rather than stitches these days. Minimizing a real event (someone got up on a roof with a gun, shot at Trump multiple times and killed a bystander) doesn’t help us. Someone did shoot at him and he did get blood on his face from a cut because facial cuts bleed like crazy. He was lucky like pixy said.

RIGHT.
Fucking Liz Cheney has been saying this for literal years. And not because she's a left wing progressive nervous nelly.
the Republican Party and Trump specifically have been acting on their authoritarian, anti democratic ,voter suppression and government gutting impulses for years. You don’t have to listen to trump's hopes for the future, you can look at what already happened. Project 2025 rings it to a new level. Of course they are going for even greater voter suppression in four years.
But I do think Trump's brain doesn’t think the world exists beyond him. I can fully see him staying as long as he can and taking steps to burn it all down before he goes. Cult leader style.
This seems unwise to me. I hate to generalize but Trump has (at least from the ones I know) a lot of veteran support, he should want them registered.
You’d be surprised at how many veterans hate him. He called us losers and suckers, and got out of serving due to made up bone spurs. He paraded our leaders out as part of a political stunt, and makes a mockery of all we serve for. And we see it. He does still have some followers (mostly diehard Rs who have been raised never to vote for Dems), but he’s losing a lot of ground with veterans.
I feel like this is dangerous and undermines his accountability.
Nah. He's one of those speakers that gets up and just lets his mouth run saying whatever he thinks will win over the person in front of him. That does not divorce him of the accountability of what comes out of his mouth, because he should be held to it. I just think that he, personally, doesn't know what he's going to say until it's out of his mouth.

Former President Trump's two veep runners-up, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, are in the running for secretary of state, Trump sources tell us.
Trump accepted an invitation from the The National Association of Black Journalists to speak at their annual meeting today. They always invite both candidates. And...there's like no chance he won't say something totally insane so I'm anxiously awaiting to reports out of this.
Like I'm just envisioning him using the same speech he gave the Christians "I love you my beautiful black journalists!"
Every Trumper/Republican I know truly believes that he has nothing to do with Project 2025. They truly believe "libs" are freaking out over nothing because he said he doesn't know anything about it and his agenda on his website is so different. I don't get it. I mean, I guess I do get it, but I also don't.

My ILs are hardcore trumpers. I'm sure they also believe he has nothing to do with Project 2025.

I honestly believe him that he doesn’t know much about it. It might be one of the most honest things he has said in a long time. That would require him to care about something other than giving soundbites, eating McDonald’s, and golfing. (However, I think him NOT knowing about it is intentional. He almost assuredly agrees with it, but not being officially informed about it now is wise. He can plead ignorance because he knows it isn’t popular, then if he were to get into office, he will suddenly learn all about it from all of his advisors and put things in place.)
Rather than trying to nail him for lying about not knowing about it, I think we should really be pressing him about WHY he doesn’t know anything about it. A presidential candidate should be WELL informed about something so big and well-funded with so many strong connections to their party. Ask how he plans to distance himself from the PEOPLE involved in the project and make sure they don’t push for things to happen in his administration. A LOT of people surrounding him are involved in it, of course, but he’s just their useful idiot.
“They will take the life of a child in the eighth month, the ninth month and even after birth.” Trump has said this numerous times including live, on camera, during the presidential debate with Biden. To me, this statement is (more) evidence to disqualify him as a serious candidate for president. However, to MAGA, this statement becomes gospel and deserves believing and repeating. In ordinary MAGA circles it’s morphed into versions of ‘They are doing abortions after birth. In lib states, up to four weeks after the baby is born”.
I didn’t think the crazy town bar could drop lower than the floor of the Dead Sea in Jordan. But here we are.
Besides building more radical and outrageous lies upon lies to feed the outrage machine, can anyone think of the root cause of this statement? I’ve heard it might be referring to hospice palliative care for newborns. Sometimes it hurts my mind and head less if I know the seed to which the lying is based.
