Unfortunately he occasionally pops up rent free in my head. I was never a fan of the Bush family and he was really giving Nepo baby. They kind of seem like Saints now, compared to the Trumps. 2000 was the first election I was old enough to vote in so I think about FL, hanging chads, Bushes, Jeb, etc. all as signs of the downfall of American politics that led to where we are today.

Trust, I get it. 2000 was my first presidential election, by absentee, registered in Broward.

The hanging chad thing was nuts to me because beginning in middle school our student council elections were done with the actual punch devices and cards on loan from the county's election board so that we could begin to understand participating in the election process. It wasn't hard to figure out, but, sure, maybe the drama dork actually won instead of the jock due to chads

Donald Trump is holding a rally on Thursday in a rented hall in my hometown, Tucson. I would prefer to ignore that sad fact. But since the building has my name on it, I need to say something.

It saddens me to see the former President bring his hate show to Tucson, a town with deep Mexican-American roots and a joyful, tolerant spirit.

I don’t just deplore his toxic politics, his hatred of women, immigrants and people of color, his criminality, dishonesty and ignorance — although there’s that.

For me it comes down to this: In Nogales and across the southern border, the Trump Administration systematically ripped apart migrant families seeking asylum. Family separation made orphans of thousands of little children and babies, and brutalized their desperate mothers and fathers. It remains a humanitarian catastrophe that Physicians for Human Rights said met the criteria for torture.

There is no forgiving or forgetting the heartbreak he caused.

Trump first ran for President warning about rapists coming in from Mexico. I’m worried about keeping the rapist out of the White House.

I just listened to a TFG speech, broadcasted on PBS, I’m not sure from where (no crowd, just him standing at a podium). (So, you don’t have to). His new thing seems to be “they won’t talk about it”. I think Springfield is the second most common city name in the US. The creator of the Simpsons is from Oregon and whenever he heard Springfield on TV he thought of Springfield, OR and used that for The Simpsons because he knew everyone would think it was “their” Springfield. The peninsula where my mom lives has been having landslide issues for years, but they had rapidly sped up this past year. Trump has a golf course there. One of the holes has already fallen into the ocean due to erosion. He did a speech from there yesterday and said he knows how to fix the problem and he’d have the feds provide the money to fix it. If it was fixable, that would have been done years ago. An historical chapel had to be dismantled and moved to save it because of the issues. He also said he’d withhold wildfire relief to California if Newsom doesn’t adopt Trump policies. If that threat isn’t a red flag … thankfully most of the oldies up in the hill know that the “fixing the hill” thing isn’t as easy as Trump’s money. If it was he would have saved his golf course before the hole fell in the ocean!

Last night Trump called for the deportation of the Springfield immigrants and others in Aurora. On camera. In prepared remarks. Over and over. I can link it if anyone needs it but it’s too depressing to watch.

He’s promising it as president.

He’s going to get so much worse as he slips in the polls.

And Laura Loomer put out a disgusting Tweet again today. About as bad as you can imagine. She’ll get worse, too. Trump leaning into her orbit and people tells you everything need to know about what he thinks is going to win this election.
