The whole speech is fantastic.  Also appropriate for now is:

ETA - It's depressing that this movie is from 1995 and the main pieces of legislation being discussed are around guns and the environment, and here we are almost 30 years later with the same issues...

I was sad yesterday and took an edible and bought the movie from Amazon and watched it at 2am.  Also rewatched the first two episodes of the second season of West Wing, which is right after the shooting and they show the background of how the staff came on board.  Seeing them talk about if Bartlet is a good man got to me.  We need good people, and I think Walz is probably the closest we have to that right now.

Yes! I’m shockingly happy with the ticket and the energy behind it. I really had thought that it was too late for the Democratic Party to pivot with the nom, but not only did it reinvigorate the party and give us people to vote FOR instead of just hoping enough people vote against Trump, but it’s thrown Trump for a loop and has made him even more off his rocker. I’ve been pleasantly surprised, which is a very new feeling regarding politics after the past 8 years.

I don't follow mediums at all and have never been interested, but I've heard a lot of chatter that there's predictions that something's going to happen mid September. I've heard so much talk about it I'm starting to wonder if I want to go down that rabbit hole.

This is random, but it reminds me of a History channel program I watched years ago that claimed that FDR had a psychic visit him in early 1945, because he knew he wasn't well. She confirmed he didn't have much time left and he asked her, how many months? And she said, weeks, not months. I would love to know if that story is true.

I will say on one occasion - many years ago - I had my cards read at the Renaissance Fair. It was right before I joined the Peace Corps and this woman knew EVERYTHING. At the time I thought she was super wrong because I didn’t like what she said, but later I was like holeee fuck. She got it all right. Not one thing she said was wrong.

She told me I was about to leave the country for what I thought would be a few years, but I would come home much sooner than I thought (which happened six months after I left for the PC due to an accident I experienced).

She told me that I had a lot of women friends and that throughout my life my female friendships would be very important to me. (Very true.)

She told me that I would not enter a long-term romantic relationship for the foreseeable future, but that when I did, I would marry him. (Also true. I didn’t meet my husband until 5 years after this conversation and he was my first and only serious relationship.)

She told me I would move out of state for a job (which also happened). She also told me that someone I loved would get very, very sick but recover. (My stepdad was diagnosed with throat cancer about 9 months after this and recovered, although he died of a different cancer 17 years later.)

So while I am frequently skeptical of people who claim to have inside information, this experience has given me the belief that sometimes people either somehow have the ability to do what most cannot or they are just extra super good at guessing.

I saw 2 TikTok mediums and an astrologer (I’m not into this stuff so I’m not sure why it’s showing up on my FYP) that said he will die in September. I was going to post but then figured this wasn’t the right audience.

I'm not quite sure I'd want that to happen?? Because the chaos surrounding the election would be terrible. And MAGATs would level all kinds of accusations at Dems. And he wouldn't have ever gone to prison (not that that's super likely anyway). The political instability would be terrible for the country.

My guess is mediums are running with this “die in September” thing because it gets them more views. I wouldn’t mind being wrong though.

I do believe in ESP. A family friend saw a medium for unrelated reasons a few months after my dad died and the medium said an older gentleman was approaching her holding a very specific item that my dad had given the friend. There is absolutely no way the medium could have known about it.

Oh no Ross & Carrie (podcast) visit several psychics every year toward the new year and then follow up a year later (and also after the psychic said something would happen, if longer). They also annually make their own "psychic" predictions.

The psychic predictions almost never hit unless they're really, really vague or something that could easily apply to anyone. Their own predictions have similar accuracy rates.
