I'm annoyed with Nat Geo. DS has a subscription to the kids magazine. I got the renewal notice email and logged in to change the credit card on file because the one I used previously is no longer active. I saw the charge on my new credit card, fine. Today I check my CC and there is a second charge from Nat Geo. When I log in to my NG account I've been charged for a subscription to the regular magazine (once) and DS's magazine hasn't renewed. Customer service can only see one charge, which she refunded and cancelled the magazine I don't want. Now I'm waiting to see if the second charge falls off my card or if I have to call back and fight about that. I hate when basic things aren't simple and it ends up taking my time and mental energy to make sure the company doesn't overcharge me.
I am watching the Laci Peterson documentary on Netflix right now… not sure why, I don’t think there is any new information anyone could learn at this point, but I work from home and like background noise that I don’t have to pay 100% attention. I freaking hate this guy SO much! That poor woman.
I also give his mistress a lot of credit for being emotionally calm and contacting the police before calling him and freaking the F out. Not sure I could have done that, but she helped them so much.
Also, his family sucks for failing to realize he is a guilt POS.
His family is so frustrating. He called Amber from Laci’s candlelit vigil. HELLO!!! I found interesting the one juror that said that it wasn’t that he had a girlfriend - it was the way he had totally moved on from any life involving Laci that convinced him.
circa1978, I think we need to just normalize calling people by the name they introduce themselves as or provide in their contact information. It is not OK to either shorten someone's name or use what you think their preferred name is short for without clearing it by the person whose name it is. I don't understand why that's so hard for people!

Totally. I feel like a lot of Jennifers can actually feel me on this. I'm sensitive to it because, as a late gen x kid, I have so many of them in my life but they are, in no particular order, Jen, Jenny, Jennifer, Ginny, Jenn and one who goes by her middle name. If your signature says Jennifer, you will be Jennifer until you tell me otherwise, because Jenn would have my head if I called her Jenny and so on and so forth.
I also have a two part last name, so I'm already victimized by the UX of most standard forms, who let me know I can't use special characters (hyphens) I've exceeded their maxmim character requirements (rude) and my name can't include spaces.
Then my legal name doesn't match documents (including some airlines and credit cards FFS) and there is confusion as to why.
My dog had a weird skin issue last summer and again this spring. He was breaking out in hives all over his body and eventually his muzzle was a scratched up, bleeding mess. Eventually we realized the timing aligned with when we opened a new bag of dry dog food. It was the same food we had always fed him, but the new bag had a new additive or something. We switched him to rice and chicken for a few weeks to let it pass and then found a new dry food. It started again this spring with some random dog treats, so we had to work through it again.
Do you think there's something food related going on? Even if it's the same food he's always had?
He has been on Purina Pro Plan large breed sensitive skin & stomach for a few years now, but even when we had switched him to that food, he would have flare-ups. It definitely could be that they changed to formula. I actually was recently talking with a few friends, and they mentioned switching him to beef or chicken and rice for a little while to see if his skin improves. Maybe we just need to give that a try. I will have DH ask the vet on Friday if there would be another food we could try for our dog.
We had him on Apoquel for about 2 years, but had to take him off it last year due to him developing diarrhea due to the Apoquel.
We switched to that. It has salmon in it, which apparently was a huge issue for our dogs. One just had upset tummy, but the one with allergies had mild to moderate reactions for a long time. Once we stopped it (after allergy testing), he improved substantially.
I guess salmon is a pretty common allergy in dogs.

As someone who works in tech, a hyphen should not be considered a special character. Anyone who denies that in a name entry field is an asshole (or has to meet requirements decided by an asshole). Ugh.
I gave my notice for this job, and gave 2 weeks thinking they were going to cut me loose like they have the others immediately. Nope. They took me up on the full 2 weeks. WHY DID I GIVE 2 WEEKS?!

I saw (and tried on!) a dress that I’m in love with!! Fit is amazing, price is within budget, but where would I ever wear it to?
The salesgirl put it on hold until tomorrow and omg please tell me to pull the trigger on it! It’s a knee length strappy sundress in sequined green! Like what a sexy Tinkerbell would wear!
Are sequined sundresses appropriate Target / Publix attire? (Asking for a friend! 🤗)

Yes! Buy it and wear it wherever you want! Maybe plan something special for the dress!
Clothes suck so much right now. If you found something you love and price is good, just get it!

"LOL JK", then peace out? Isn't this the awful job or am I thinking of someone else?

For sure. Selling her vehicle and getting rid of her stuff 2 months later when bodies hadn't been found yet and how the nursery was in dissaray at that point too....like it'd be hard to go in there, but he was using it as a dumping ground.
I feel like I have a panic every time I have a work trip. I used to be a road warrior, spending two weeks a month out of town. Hell, I could have a 1 pm flight, leave my office at 11, go h9me, pack, and make my flight. But here I am, 15 hours from my flight, and freaking out over what to pack. It’s a one day meeting, but not near a big airport, so I’m gone two night. On the plus note, I think I’m going to get to see a Lake Michigan beach.
I’m posting this to motivate myself to actually get up and pack. Rather than just anxiously think about what I need to do. Lol
The electric utility is doing maintenance in front of my house. At almost 8pm on a Monday night. I'm usually asleep by 9. I'm hoping the AC and a fan will drown out most of the noise, but I also think it's unlikely I'm getting much sleep tonight. There isn't an outage, so it seems unlikely that the work is urgent...

We made some headway in getting her school schedule set up. It's not a straightforward process when you're dealing w an IEP and school avoidance issues that result in H&H. At least now the new district has the IEP, H&H rec for 24-25, the ERMHS assessment rec, and knowledge of the delicate situation regarding her severe school avoidance issues. We have a tentative schedule put together *fingers crossed*. The end goal is to get her graduated from HS. We can deal w post HS when we get to that bridge.
I'm not sure I've ever issued a reminder on this, but if you are emailing someone you don't know and they have two first names (Like Mary Ann or Jon Paul or whatever) use both names unless they tell you otherwise. It is such a pet peeve of mine for people to default to the first part of my name, which I loathe. The fact that my legal first name, which happens to have two parts, is in my email signature, my email address and I've signed it after every interaction we have is maybe an indication of that. Interestingly, hyphens and even making it one word, both of which I've experimented with over the years, do not help. If you are a vendor, know that this sets me against you from the word go but I also hate you a little bit no matter who you are if you do this.
ETA: Unless you are in a heavily Catholic country like Italy, France or Spain or the very deep US south, please do not saddle your child with a two part first name. I have wished my entire life for a simple name like Kate or Jen. (But not the short version of my name, which as we've established, sucks.)
I feel this way about vendors who can't spell my name right either ... send me something 'Tracy' the likelihood of me responding is nil unless I absolutely have to.

pixy0stix did you build in any days off between jobs?
If not, I would have no shame about going in tomorrow and saying that you need to revise your last date to Tues or Wed of next week. I mean, I would have no shame about doing that regardless. But especially so if you are otherwise going directly from toxic job to the new one. Your brain needs extra days to reset.

I didn't because I really thought they'd cut me loose. I do have time carved out next week, but it's filled with doctors appointments. I didn't plan well, and yeah I'm going to need to revise my end date.

I was trying to add our daughter as a lap infant on a flight recently and it wouldn’t let me. I had to text with customer support and they couldn’t add her either and said it was because there was a hyphen in her last name. I was like what??? It’s 2024, how is this a thing, so many people have hyphenated names.
My sister had a baby! We've known her step-daughter for a couple of years now, but this is my sister's first baby, so the first teeny tiny niece. We're all excited. I can't wait to buy matching outfits for the four cousins.

I had no idea that salmon is a common allergy in dogs! We will ask the vet on Friday more about allergy testing. I will also check into other dog food with different proteins...maybe we could try to find one with bison as the main protein.

Our dog developed skin issues (itchy paws and body, dull fur) when we had her on a salmon based food. She's on a chicken based food now and she's much better, she still has season allergies.
