I went for a run this morning. Although we live in a pretty blue area, I’ve mostly seen Trump signs in our community, largely because Harris-Walz signs were slow to get out. But I’m slowly starting to see Harris-Walz crop up. It brings me great (albeit petty) satisfaction to flip off the Trump signs and cheer the Harris ones.
This morning I saw an older, white dude coming out of a house with a Harris-Walz sign and I yelled, “I love your sign!” And then I realized he was getting into vendor car and I said, “Oh, you don’t live there. I love their sign!”
And he said, “I have the same sign!” And then I yelled “yay!” 🤣 Haha, don’t know if I made his morning, but he sure made mine.

New York has been AMAZING. The weather - originally forecast to have some rain - has been perfect. We've seen SO much (and walked miles and miles each day) thanks to L being a total trooper and hanging in for marathon sightseeing because he's so excited to be here. Today we have done nothing all morning and are heading out in a bit to hang with my BFF and her partner and dog, which will be a nice change of pace. I'm so glad we did this trip!
I'm amazed at the changes I am seeing in my son since he's started college. He lives in a dorm but comes home on weekends since he's only 30 mins away.
He's grown/matured so much in just a month. It's awesome to see. ❤️

My Phillies clinched their playoff spot last night. I love this team. A friend reposted the mlb picture/announcement and I TRIED to write “let’s effin go!” But autocorrect decided I meant “let’s efficiently go!” And I’m gonna be laughing about this all weekend. Along with telling my kid about his fortune/fookin cookie. 🫠
Nothing like driving half an hour for a youth soccer game only to find out that someone scheduled another last minute make up game that overlaps. No idea what's going on, but it's the opposing team's field so hopefully they're figuring something out.
Not sure if we'll have time now, but in theory we're looking at sofas after this, then DH and DS are headed to a pickle festival and I'll pick DD up from theater crew work day and go for pedicures.

SusanBAnthony when my kids ask for something very specific like that I have them search online. They trust Google telling them it doesn't exist over me.
I have found that in my advancing age, I am getting better about letting people on the internet be wrong, rolling my eyes and bitch about it to whoever is near me, but not engaging. That said, I did engage this morning *and* I’m going to tell you all about it.
The women’s fencing network group says it’s goals is to support and encourage women in fencing. Today, someone came on and started bitching that not enough women registered for a tournament. She actually said “if you live within driving distance of NYC, shame on you.” And “east coast veteran (age 40+) women are damaging fencing.”
Give me a fucking break.
My engagement was, I like to think, somewhat tempered. “I thought this group was for supporting, not shaming? Veteran women have so many competing priorities, kids, aging parents, careers, etc. We don’t all have enough free time to devote 6-8 hours of travel time.”
Also bitch, I am signed up for a vet tournament the same day, 15 minutes away. Not 4 hour. And I guess that’s why turnout is so low.

That's great!
Along these lines, I subbed for a 9th grade Spanish 1 class. Dealing with the immature 9th graders made me realize just how much my 10th grader grew up/matured over the last year.
Props to all teachers, but teachers of 9th graders especially!

My mom is having emergency surgery this morning. She had extreme pain in my her abdomen and so she went to the ER. They did an X-ray and saw something shaped like a needle in her belly. Upon talking more about it they think she swallowed the tine of a metal grill cleaning brush. We were all at my brother's last week for a cook out. He feels awful but what a freak thing. I'm just waiting for the all clear from surgery now.

Yes. My youngest is a sophomore and he has changed so much as well. He also has hit puberty a bit on the later side so his voice is just now dropping at 15. lol

Our Harris sign finally shipped! I'm hoping those delays are why it's not super common to see them yet.
DS13 is home from his week in DC! They got in around midnight last night. Apparently there was some drama with a 13YO girl who was mean to him. 🙄 I keep telling him that traveling/road trips with anyone is challenging and reminded him that when we were in Hawaii this summer I spent...a lot of time in the adults only pool and she didn't have that option but he's still hurt.
I am cleaning the house this morning, h is working (in the basement) I pulled out the fridge to sweep up dust bunnies. I noticed water. It was dry when I started so obviously I caused. Asking him to come look at this was the worst idea ever. I should have just shut off the water and said fuck it. In the end I shit off the water not just waiting for it to dry before I put the fridge back. Lesson of the day. Leave the dust bunnies.

I’m on vacation!!! I don’t go back until 9/30, and I started it off with a nice long/fun walk with the pups at the dog park! Not doing anything, but errands, some appointments for my mom, my DD, some pets, and doing stuff around the house.
I’m hoping to get my embroidery stuff out too, so I can do some of that as well. So boring, but I’m still excited to do mostly nothing!
Honecoming is next weekend. My daughter needs shoes that:
1. Dont pinch her toes 2. Cover her toes (because toes/dogs are embarrassing?!?) 3. Dont slip off 4. Dont have any buckles touching her skin because that feels funny 5. Have a heel of 1.5 inch or less
This does not exist. Pray for me.
My boys just went to Homecoming last week. All of the girls were wearing high-top Chucks with their nice dresses. A couple of the girls were wearing nicer shoes but changed into the Chucks they brought when they saw what the other girls were wearing. Part of it was that the school didn’t want heals on the new gym floor, but I do also think it’s the style these days.

It’s so hot today but I did go to the pumpkin patch and get my pumpkins for the yard. I’m going to decorate for fall today.
Tonight is our town’s Oktoberfest and we like this band that always plays so may go to that.
My knee has been bothering me since our CO vacation. I was way more active than in my normal life and everything I’ve Googled fits with runner’s knee from overuse. But it has affected my gait so when I went to the office this week where I have to walk a lot, I then pulled or hurt something in my calf. So now I’m full out limping which is so fun. Trying to rest it a lot and do ice.
The boy DD was “talking” to broke things off and she took it pretty hard. DS is staying with XH this weekend, so she and I are going thrifting and to brunch. May do the same tomorrow if she’s up for it.

I tried to convince her of this but she is t having it. Because I am a dumb stupid head who knows nothing. I might text my sister or cousin and ask them to tell her, because they are not dumb.

Ballet flats or is that against the skip off rule.
I’m laughing in solidarity at the last part. It’s so hard not knowing anything.

I put our Harris/Walz sign out last night. Made me feel better that I was combating the dumb Trumper up the street. Let's go rest-of-the-street, get your H/W signs out!

It’s finally the homecoming dance.
Our school is extra extra when it comes to Homecoming. I think the kids have been doing something homecoming related since school started mid-August. I love that they are involved but I am sooo ready for it to be done!
(((( buckeyegirl,)))) I hope your mom has a speedy recovery! That’s sounds horrible.
I also would like to report that either my call out shaming the lady for shaming people caused her to delete, or the mods deleted it for not being supportive. But the mean post is gone. 😁

I like the idea of chucks that pp mentioned, but if your DD isn't into chucks, then maybe try a plain pair of ballet flats?

I’m glad they caught it! This isn’t as uncommon as people think, and can cause a lot of issues if not caught. Hope your Mom recovers quickly!

In our town the girls all wear chucks or all white vans or Nike Air Force ones. I love it because I always hated wearing heels. And I still do we an adult 🤣
