Its the first day its rained in about a month here (abnormal) but my rescue dog from West Texas (who we've had 3 weeks) is so confused and will not go out in the rain to do his business. He keeps nope noping everytime we bring him out and peed in the house. Friend, you better get ready for Boston winters because this is childs play compared to that.
I’ve lived in the Netherlands for 6 years. It rains nonstop. My dog still hates to go pee in the rain. He loves snow though! (He came from Toronto with us)
My Mom is definitely trying to downsize… she sent me a picture of a decorative Peter rabbit plate with my birthday and name written on it and asked me if I wanted it…. Of course I don’t! I said yes because I can appreciate her trying to clean out clutter and not wanting to throw that out

In honour of the first day of Fall, I am making roast beef with mashed potatoes, carrots, gravy and Yorkshire pudding for dinner. This is a total comfort food for me - growing up, it was the meal I always requested when my Mom would ask what dinner I wanted for my birthday.

I’ve eaten like absolute trash this weekend because I haven’t wanted to cook in the midst of deep cleaning my house. Brisket nachos at the football game Friday, Subway for lunch Saturday, pizza for Saturday night dinner and Sunday lunch, and probably just Trader Joe’s orange chicken for dinner tonight since I haven’t gotten to the store yet. Oh, I also drank a few Oktoberfests while cleaning lol. I also skipped my workout yesterday and haven’t done my walks the last few days. I feel blah.
beerlover , those nasty bastards are a long battle. It was all for naught! Just the major assault. There will be skirmishes that continue for awhile. It will succeed eventually. Without moving or a flame thrower.
I assume you are saying it WASNT all for naught 😂
OMG.🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ Yes!! It was *not* all for naught.
I am terrible about leaving nots out of sentences where I am trying to state a negative.

Soccer is getting weird, man. lol.
Wesley met the new coach for his team for the first time today at a game bc he’s been sick forever.
Anyway. Wes gets off the field with a few complaints. First was that the coach drank from his (Wesley’s) water bottle and then threw it in the ground. That’s beyond weird (at least to me) so I kept asking Wesley if he was sure. Maybe the coach has the same water bottle we do or maybe Wes just saw him pick it up. Wes was adamant that he was right and he’s the only one in the team with that water bottle which has a name sticker on it. Like, I still don’t know if believe it bc THAT IS SO WEIRD! That can’t possibly have happened.
Another one was that Wesley doesn’t like how this coach talked to him, Wes asked the coach if he could play defense and the coach said “I’m not letting you play defense bc you’re scared of the ball”. Again, I’m incredulous, like did a coach say that to an 11 year old he’s just met? A coach wouldn’t say something like that, right? I definitely understand a coach puts in players where they’d be best suited and wes maybe isn’t suited as a defender at this point but, surely he had to have said it more constructively than that.
So. Weird. (And I don’t think Wes is “lying” but he definitely interprets things differently than what was intended.)

How do I take an unflattering picture on my phone? My face is broken out and I wanted to send a picture to my doctor but when I take my picture it is much more flattering than reality.
ugh I have a Google pixel and can not figure this out! Its the worst when I'm trying to take kid rash pictures and then it adjusts the redness out and smooths everything it. I've looked for all sorts of settings and googled and can't find anything to turn it off.

On my pixel, there's a setting menu on the left hand side of the screen and under that you can turn off face retouching. At least it's there in selfie mode.

We ended up getting new iphones today. Mine was old and working very wonkily and with the new ones just coming out the timing worked out. I also got a pretty case. But setting up a new phone is the pits.

I could not find the correct word and just called DD’s electric toothbrush her “zoom zoom toothbrush” and this is maybe the funniest thing I’ve said in at least a month.
We are on vacation. The bed is squeaky and my husband has a headache, which he always handles very very very poorly. This time, it's constantly flopping around in bed and getting in and out of bed to try different things to make the headache go away. Which makes the bed squeak. So I too am not sleeping.
This is after he picked a fight with my 10 year old while we were at dinner because they were both hungry and overwhelmed/annoyed by the loud, slow moving restaurant. In fairness, this is atypical for my husband, but honestly. Mr Cville, get it together.
I don't want to default to men are the worst out of habit. But my daughter and I have been efficient, pleasant, and patient all day. So in this scenario, men are the worst. Tomorrow I'm taking her for a long bike ride and ice cream without the boys. See ya, suckers.

tl/dr: I had to satellite text 911 because my teen went further than he should've for longer than he should've along a river. He was never in any danger and we were reunited shortly before SAR arrived .
I went on a short hike in a river canyon with my 16yo yesterday. About 1.5 miles in we found a good spot for him to fish while I read. He wanted to go further down river and I stayed put with the dog as both the river access and trail (about 10 feet above the river) were quite rocky. After about 2 hours (an hour past a hiker said they saw him) I tried to hike the last bit of trail-maybe 1500 feet?-- but there was too much rock scrambling for my abilities and I couldn't see him along the river anyway. I waited another 45 minutes, tried and failed again and had lost all my chill by this point so I called 911 via satellite text. It's a slow system but they told me to return to my car and wait for search and rescue. I passed a few groups on the way out and asked them all to keep and eye out and tell him to get back to the car. When I was about halfway up the steep entry to the canyon I heard him calling me from the bottom. He'd gone along the river past the end of the trail, which is why I couldn't see him, and was already heading back to where I was reading when a family had told him to hurry back since his mother was really upset. Poor kid thought I was having a diabetic emergency and ran the whole way. It'd been about an hour since I first texted and we got to the car a few minutes ahead of the SAR coordinator who was really happy with this outcome. He had a lot of questions about where I was able to get sat service and gave the kid a lecture about going past the signs saying not to go further due to the risk of death, but he never saw them scrambling along the river. He did catch a 24 inch salmon and it was tasty so he wants to go back, but I will never.
My mom is having emergency surgery this morning. She had extreme pain in my her abdomen and so she went to the ER. They did an X-ray and saw something shaped like a needle in her belly. Upon talking more about it they think she swallowed the tine of a metal grill cleaning brush. We were all at my brother's last week for a cook out. He feels awful but what a freak thing. I'm just waiting for the all clear from surgery now.
I randomly thought about you/your mom today. I hope everything went well!?
