midwestmama , kind of. There is a somewhat common girls name that sounds the same as my last name but is spelled differently. So for example, it would be like calling the singer Jason Isbell, Isabelle instead of Jason, where Jason should be the default because that is clearly a first name, but the person chooses Isbell anyway even though it isn't "Isabelle" spelled correctly. It wouldn't bother me so much if this wasn't a person that I deal with somewhat regularly, I'll give people I don't know well a pass.
That is so annoying. My maiden name was a really common boys first name that was not a common last name and I hated when people called me it (gym teachers / coaches like to use last names but it would be awkward with me). My first name is also spelled 2 ways and mine is the less common version. Despite it being in my email address and email signature I get emails spelling it incorrectly multiple times and day from people who’ve known me for years and people who’ve just met me and should be trying to make a good impression (autocorrect does change it though in their defense).
I signed Mardi, an 18 month old puppy, up for a 6 week agility class. We went Saturday and it wasn't good. It was very disorganized and so incredibly basic that Mardi was bored and kept trying to get into trouble, I know the trouble part is on me, but it was hard to keep her focused on a short leash when she had nothing to do. I took her to a beginner class a few months ago and they had her doing all kinds of obstacles, this one only had her walking on a flat board that laid on the ground, circling a traffic cone, and going through a 2' tunnel. At the end of class the instructor told me it would get better, but not for several weeks. I'm trying to decide if we quit and give up the money we paid ($120), or do I finish it and hope it gets better. FWIW it's at 7:30 am on Saturdays, so quitting is appealing in that way lol.
Sounds like you are out the money either way. I wouldn't go and be miserable unless I was positive my dog would eventually get something useful out of it.
We’re going on a much anticipated vacation next week (Disney) and DS2’s preschool just sent a message that they have had several COVID cases at the school. I wasn’t able to get a booster for him so am considering keeping him home the next 2 days. WWYD?
If you can manage it, I'd absolutely keep him home!

lavenderblue, is it a man? I think you should write again and reiterate that you go by your first name and would appreciate if he called you that going forward. Hopefully it's just a silly mistake, but it's also a lack of respect to not bother to call someone by their name.
jinkies, Sometimes I think I'm too nice, then I hear about people putting up with things like that and realize there are a lot of people who are WAY nicer and more flexible than me, lol. I would absolutely NOT be ok with that.
When I was in elementary school we had this situation and the neighbors contacted the school and the school sent out a notice tailored to your stop to bus riders reminding people that no one was to be waiting on private property and where your bus stop actually was. I want to say they sent it out twice and then it basically stopped.
The school made it out to be a liability/policy issue for the school. We knew the family and got all gossip so we knew they prompted the “reminders” but the since school made it seem like it was a whole school update they acted like they had no idea the notices went out. “Well, we have to do what the school says so no more playing on my yard, sorry!”
At this point the families gathering there probably have no idea the grandchildren ever went to the same school so they wouldn’t have that to cling to so maybe they’d move on? But I’d think the owners would have to reach out to the school or physically block people if they wanted it to stop.
tacokick I'd wait a week or so to see if the class gets rescheduled before saying anything further.
That makes sense. Part of what annoys me is that you do sign up and pay for the three sections separately but they keep acting like it is one long class so we have months to do whatever.
But the class has been disorganized and delayed at every point so far so I was keeping in the back of my mind that I could always quit between sections and not get certified if it didn’t get better. But I’d want to get what I paid for already!
If we don’t cancel it, the next class is already next week so hopefully it would come up then.

@@@ humor. The other day DD told me that her whole bus (just 13 kids) had to go to the principal's office that morning. Apparently a few 4th and 5th grade boys were at the back and making the "L for loser" symbol to the driver behind the bus. The woman followed the bus to the school, then got out and told on them to the teachers. DD goes "what a KAREN!!!". If I someday lose my sense of humor enough to follow a school bus and tattle on elementary school students, take me out to the pasture!

I’m having my kidney stones blasted again on Friday. Of course my freakin period started this am. Ughhh. Doctor says it isn’t a problem, thank godc bc I want to be done (ish, I’ll still have some in the left side).
Does anyone happen to know if there’s anything wrong with getting surgery (minor) and then the next day getting a tattoo? I’ve already had to reschedule my appointment when H had Covid, I don’t want to do it again. Artist hasn’t answered yet, I’m just curious.

I love that your DD used Karen perfectly, because OMG. I would have just made the whatever sign back at them and stuck out my tongue to make them laugh.
jinkies, is there no sidewalk? This would annoy me, but since the home owners allow it, then I assume they are fine with it.
Kids always stood on the sidewalk here. Where I grew up, there were no sidewalks so they did stand in our drive way. No parents came and chatted though, it was just the kids. I assume we did play tag or whatever while we waited.
When we got the dog I was stressed about what we were going to do when our cleaning lady came every other week (we don't crate him when we're not home). Turns out my cleaning lady is OBSESSSSSED with him and sends me selfies of them "cleaning" the house together. She's sent me 4 texts already today about how much she loves him and can she please give him treats? lol. I'm glad its working out.
Does anyone struggle with plantar fasciitis? I've had it all summer and tried everything. I've had it before and it went away on its own, but I'm getting frustrated that it isn't the case this time. I'm scared that my doctor will suggest shots; I can't imagine how painful that would be or even surgery!
With that, along with my hip pain and weak knees, I feel like I'm 65 and not 49.

I had an in-person work event in my hometown 45 min away this morning from 10-12.
I could/should have called my parents to see if they wanted to do lunch afterward but it's been a hell of a last week and I just wanted to be alone. I'm sitting in a sushi restaurant drinking hot tea and eating a ridiculous amt of sushi (and miso soup!) for $13.50 which I think is pretty decent considering prices today.
I think I'm going to hit up American Eagle (never shopped there as a teen, but I like their stuff now!) and maybe Target prior to heading back home. My online school had in-person events all over the state today so no one is really working/sending emails, which is nice.

H does.
He got these insoles and they help a lot. He's got a few sets and wears them with every shoe he puts on. He also has them in his slippers and tries to never walk around barefoot. a.co/d/acYYvga
If it starts to really bother him, he wears this brace to sleep for few nights and it alleviates the pain a.co/d/iiwKiVZ
waverly , no, we are in an older development with no sidewalks. I think it was something that they started with good intentions when there were very few kids in the neighborhood (when DS was in kindergarten, there were only 4 kids at the bus stop-- the 2 grandkids, a close friend of the grandkid, and DS. Since then, almost every house on our street has turned over to younger families. The elementary bus stop alone now has something like 10 or 12 kids.
silva , my H is struggling with it really badly right now. He went to the podiatrist a couple weeks ago, and they did give him a cortisone injection but he said it didn't really help all that much. Like a previous poster said, he is trying not to go barefoot, stretching every night, and using insoles. He has also been using a frozen water bottle to roll on his foot every night. It's still painful, but it seems to be less severe. I hope it subsides soon for you!
I've been half-watching Emily in Paris and it is adorable. It gives me all of my favorite things about Sex and the City but with hotter guys. And Lily Collins is a delight.

That's exactly what I said I would have done! Either ignored if I wasn't in the mood for it, or engaged and gave it back to them. Nobody's got time in the morning to go chasing school buses over here!

I had a cleaning lady once who loved my dog. It was so sweet! We too didn’t crate him anymore as he was older. I assumed he would just lay on the couch while she cleaned- which he did. But she’s bring treats for him too.

I have a brace similar to what your husband uses and it's not as strong and basically the top part slips down and it's not secure. I may look into finding a different one that's stronger.
Can you repost the insole link? It's the same one as the brace.

I've had it since 2018. Back then, I went to a podiatrist, got custom insoles made, got 2 cortisone shots (they were quite painful and didn't give me a ton of relief) and did a few appointments of physical therapy. I also changed my habits and shoes to do all the things recommended. Only thing I didn't do was 'rest' because I'm on my feet a lot, and I stopped working out for 1 week but refused to go longer than that. My pain got a lot better, but it never fully went away. Now, I stretch my calves on a slant board that I bought back then every morning, and I ice my feet every night, and I almost only wear supportive orthotic shoes with insoles (no longer custom). So I still feel it immediately if I walk barefoot at all, and my feet get sore after extensive exercise, but generally it's minimal pain. I've also developed arthritis (big toe and mid-foot mostly) so when my feet do hurt, it's hard to tell if it's pf or that sometimes. But at least I'm not limping around anymore.
ETA the insoles I use are the same ones NewGirlNic posted (the 2nd time). I got night braces from the podiatrist and I forgot that I did use those in the beginning too when it was really bad. Those were covered by insurance. The custom insoles were only partially covered and still cost about $250. The PT was covered, and I may have had a copay when I got the injections but I don't remember it being expensive.
wildrice , it's a woman. I responded to her second email and just said "My name is XXX". I'm done playing LOL
Not sure if this was covered but is there a language barrier? I get emails to my last name all the time from our offshore teams.
The best was a coworker of mine who spoke excellent English but struggled with American slang/terms - he responded to an email with the signature "warm regards"...by saying "Dear Warm,"
