I finished all the prep for my colonoscopy. Just waiting till appointment time now. It's just for baseline purposes, I'm not having issues, but I will be so happy when they find nothing and I don't have to repeat for 5 to 10 years. I've been up since 415 and it's been up and down since then. DH took the day off and handled the kids solo this AM thank goodness.
maudefindlay- good for you! I was one of those people who rolled my eyes and went to get my colonoscopy even though the age had just changed. And they found a polyp that likely would have been cancer by the time I was 50. So yay for early detection because they yanked that puppy out and I haven’t had any other issues.
I forgot that yesterday was my niece's birthday. Usually I send a text to SIL with birthday wishes for each niece/nephew on their birthday. I feel like the biggest jerk for forgetting. We did already send a gift, but just forgot to send birthday wishes on her actual birthday.
DS, who is autistic and has ADHD, got his grades yesterday. He had all Bs, which is so great for him. And all Es in conduct, which to me is even more important. His team is great. I love them.
DD had a great practice on Sunday with her club field hockey team and followed that up with a great school practice yesterday. One of the old field hockey coaches attended practice and worked with her. The coach also encouraged the girls to cheer for DD as the goalie as well as cheering for the girl shooting on her. I’ve noticed on both teams that the goalies aren’t cheered during practice as much as the field players are, until it’s time to scrimmage. So that felt really good to her.
I have a friend whose kids are all grown who told me his wife once said you are only as happy as your unhappiest kid. That’s true. So yesterday was a happy day.
We finally started groups yesterday after all the support we provide and testing we do. I was asleep before 10pm and slept like a log until 6:10am. It is so busy and fast paced all day long.

OMG this just reminded me that my niece's birthday was last week and I forgot to send a card and money.
All of my nieces are much younger than my kids, and dh's brother's family recently stopped having 'family' parties for their kids, and I have the worst time remembering now. Also, when we stopped having family parties (we do still have family over for lunch/dessert if we can fit it in, but bil's family live a decent way away and don't always come), they started the tradition of sending a card with $20 for the kids' birthdays, so that is what we do now, and I feel like we're just exchanging $20 bills and I don't love it to begin with, but I feel like I can't say I'd like to stop because my kids are older and they've been sending money for a long time. I'd have to say, please stop sending my kids money, but then still send theirs money, but I'm sure they wouldn't be into that. I know things don't have to be 'equal' necessarily, but I think bringing it up would just make things uncomfortable so I'll deal with sending $20 back and forth. Except I'm a week late. But at least you reminded me, so thank you!

I've been doing letters for Vote Forward and I now know there is a place in Pennsylvania called Tunkhannock, do any of you live there what do you call it, it's too many syllables for me.
I shared in the other thread that we added a second cat over the weekend with a 10 week old kitten. In 72 hours time, I went from anxiety attacks and questioning everything to wearing my kitten in a sling like a baby.

My youngest passed his drivers permit test today. It was our 4th attempt. And no, he did not fail 3 times. The first time we went I forgot his SS card. The second time I forgot his Birth Certificate. The third time we only got half way there before realizing they were closed. Today was the finally the day and he passed! And not a minute too soon. He just got a new girlfriend who lives 45 min away, so only 6 more month driving him back and forth.

If he’s old enough to drive, he’s old enough to remember to bring his own SS card and birth certificate.

To be fair, while I think we can equally take the blame for the forgotten SS card (he asked me to get the documents for him because I keep them in the safe I forgot to grab the card after I said I would), I take full responsibility for the Birth Certificate. He had all of his stuff together to head there and couldn't go for a few weeks, and in the meantime I had pulled his Birth Certificate out for something else and didn't put it back.
I'm more 🫠 over a new driver doing 1.5 hr round trips to a girlfriends house. Y'all better FaceTime each other! This is not a relationship I can support in this economy 😭😂

I don’t live there but I think they just call it tunkhannock It’s fewer syllables than Philadelphia, you goof!

And that is why they only see each other once a week. Plus the other Mom and I split the driving, so that helps. My DD boyfriend lives 40min away and before she got her license I was doing that drive. Where I live and unfortunately where their SO lives, there just aren't major highways to get there. It's less than 30 miles away but because it's all backroads, it takes longer.

Do you live in Tunkhannock?!
This has helped me make a new house rule: if we're more than 10 minutes from home, do not speak to or look at anyone.
I think my dog is a criminal mastermind. He started jumping in the bed when we weren’t around. He would get the sheets dirty/gritty feeling and I was changing them more often then too. As a result I started pulling up the covers every morning so he would just get the top layer dirty. That worked for a couple months but then he learned to pull all the covers down. I started full on making the bed in the morning, everything tucked under the mattress, corners, pillows over the top of covers - problem solved. Until today when I walk into my room, pillows are all on the floor and he has somehow untucked only on one side of the bed and threw them over into the other side like a messy turndown service and he is smack in the middle of the bed.

No, but I've been (near) there LOL It's about 130 miles but only 2 hours away because there is a major highway to get there

I've been driving for 30 years and with a gun to my head could only guess at where both my SS and birth certificate are right now.

I grew up near it. Tun-CAN-uck is about as close as I can write it out.

I'm so ready for fall and a new month, but time is slipping away from me. I had a bunch of stuff I kept saying "oh that's not until the fall/Oct, I'll deal with it when we get there", and now I've dropped the ball. I never returned the RSVP card for my friends wedding, although I had PM'd that I probably couldn't go as it's on a Monday and I don't have the holiday off. I just feel like a jerk because those RSVP's are a huge PITA. I'm sure there's 800 other things that will catch up to me too. Ce La Via.
Quick boring update on the Bachelorette Party I was posting about a few weeks ago. They finally made a plan and have moved to a group text, because FB group, FB message and a separate e-RSVP isn't enough. They decided on a $99 PP dinner then gambling at a casino. I stayed in the group chat as I was hopeful to try to make the casino after they finish dinner, but they can't figure out if they're staying over night or going back to the bride's state in an expensive ride share. Casino's an hour from me, and prices are stinky even if I go in with the group (I don't know that well). I can't mute the convo so I'm finally going to just say thanks but no thanks and leave. The poor MOH is catching crap because this is getting annoying, and super expensive. I think the group size has really dropped too.
Finally, I need to book my flu and COVID boosters. I try to do them about 2 - 3 weeks pre-vacation so that they're in my system before I'm on a plane. Last year I spread them out as I get a reaction from both separately, but I don't think I'll have enough time to do that this year. I don't get separate sick time either, so I have to do it on a Friday night and give up a weekend to feeling like crap. I know it's worth in the long run, but annoying in real time.
Does anyone have a favorite crock pot recipe that you would serve to guests? Just my parents so it doesn't have to be fancy. My mom can't have gluten but we could sub gluten free something. They are arriving here tomorrow around 8 and won't have been able to eat dinner yet, but that's a little late to go out on a Wednesday

FI went back to work yesterday and his dog thinks she can walk all over me when he's gone. She's not totally wrong, but I do have a few rules, including not jumping on me. She and I will be going over boundaries again this evening and discussing that mama's rules do apply.
I dropped DD2 off at preschool and then took a 4 mile walk in a nearby park. I got to listen to a 90 minute podcast I tried to start three weeks ago. It was me and the woods and the animals. I didn’t even care that it was muddy and my glasses kept fogging up. Pure bliss.

Whatever stomach bug is going around our area I don't wish on anyone! My stomach felt off all day on Saturday so I ate very light. Sunday night I started to have dinner and had to stop my stomach hurt so bad. I went to bed at 8:30 and then started throwing up from 11:30-6am and when I was trying to sleep was miserable and could not get comfortable. I swear I was getting so violently ill I was using neck, stomach and back muscles I didn't know I had - everything was so sore. Yesterday I sipped water, gatorade and ginger ale because I didn't want to throw up again. I just ate something about an hour ago and everything seems good. Oye - it's been a good 20+ years since I have had a stomach bug like this. Hopefully it's another 30+ until the next.
