A $13.00 charge showed up on my AmEx CC from my favorite neighborhood Thai restaurant for a day that I did not dine there (was actually oot.) I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt before I disputed the charge and called them and inquired about it. They told me they didn't have a record and to go ahead and dispute which I did. I said I did not recognize the charge. (I wasn't there that day, didn't eat there, and it's besides the point but our bill is usually closer to $50-75, never ever exactly $13.)
I just got a letter back from AmEx saying I'm responsible; it was a "mail order" which means I gave my CC# over the phone. That didn't happen (and my CC was never left behind.) WWYD? It's $13 so not a huge amount and it really is one of our favorite places to eat; we probably go 1x month. On the flip side, it's $13 that I shouldn't have to pay.
I'm thinking of taking the AmEx letter to them and have them show me the order? Or would you just let it go?
You are totally within your rights to follow up. You can start with the restaurant again, and see if they are able to offer details of the order. Then go back to AmEx (with or without the evidence from the restaurant) and state again that you were out of town and that this is not your order.
Having said all that... the time and energy required to do all this is more than I have the bandwidth for at the moment. I personally would let it go bc it seems like a huge hassle for $13.
My son has his last hockey tryouts tonight and I might be more anxious than he is for the teams to be posted.
To be clear, I really don't care what team he makes. I just want to know which mom friends I get to be with 5-6 days a week and at out of town tournaments.
sunshineandpinot - maybe I'm on edge because of the recent attempted hacking of my HSA, but I wouldn't care about paying the $13, but I WOULD want to know how the hell my CC number was given over the phone to a restaurant so I wouldn't be able to just let it go.
I just updated 1 leg of my flight to Ohio for Thursday. How much would you spend on first class for a 3.5 hour flight? Not sure if it matters but I’m plus size and never feel comfortable while flying.

I agree with this. I'd want to give grace if it was a locally owned place (sounds like it is) more than I would for a chain but the fact that my card number was out there would outweigh things.

Quoting myself - I'd ask the store if they could pull up the receipt and see if there was any more information they could give and explain, you're not trying to get out of paying it, but you want to figure out how your CC number ended up in someone else's hands. I'm assuming you've asked any family members to make triple sure no one placed the order?
Someone on the new team I've been working with just called my work "impeccable" and that I'm the best new dev added to the team in the 10+ years he's been here. I'm so touched I could almost cry. I love being a dev, but it's a very thankless job. It's good to be seen once in a while.
There was a fight between parents at C's football game yesterday. So shameful. It was the group that played before C, so 1st and 2nd graders. Just ridiculous. The kids were perfectly well behaved. It was a handful of parents who ruined it for everyone.
WOW. 1st/2nd grade?? I feel really sorry for those kids. :/

Maybe $100-$150? For the upgrade.
$50 per hour of flight time is the amount I think I'm good with.
Someone tell me how airline prices work. Earlier today a one way flight was $169, when I just checked again, it is now $204. What changed in a few hours?!

I think I mentioned that DH retired a few months ago. Today (now I did ask him) he took all the vents off the walls and cleaned them. I am super happy it's something I don't have to take on and they look really clean and nice. Puts me in such a good mood. We have guests coming in this weekend for my 50th. I don't think we've ever done it in the five years we have lived in this house.

I recently paid $116 per person from New Orleans to Philly and had to change plans in DC. I got 1st class on both flights. That's probably the max I'd spend. Maybe up to $150.

We're leaving OOT on Friday for a wedding and had the chance to upgrade to first class for $150 each (3 hour flight). We looked at the size of the plane and decided against it. If it was a larger plane with meal service/alcohol we would have upgraded.
Our dog died this morning, and I am not ok myself, let alone trying to pretend to be for my kids.
She was 11, about to turn 12 on November 2, so it's not like she was puppy or anything. But she had no serious diagnosed health concerns, so this came out of nowhere. She was fine yesterday, but when we got home from dinner last night at 7:45, she wouldn't eat her dinner. She also seemed weak, weaker than her normal "11 with osteoarthritis" self usually is.
We carried her to her bed in our room, and she slept there until 4:15 or so when she got up and got sick in the bathroom. We cleaned it up and stayed there with her, since that's where she seemed most comfortable. We planned to take her to the referral vet hospital as soon as we put the kids on the bus. But she didn't make it. I sat with her on the bathroom floor while H showered, and then she got up on her own and staggered over to her dog bed. I got her settled, and went to shower myself. When I came back, I found she was already gone. Based on symptoms, and the histories of other dogs to whom she's related, my money is on hemangiosarcoma.
Since it was peaceful, we let the kids come in and see her, and say goodbye. 5 yo DS didn't "get it." 8 yo DD definitely did, and DS's not getting it made it harder for her.
Marcy, named for Mt. Marcy, the highest peak in the Adirondacks, was the best girl. Totally well behaved, totally easy going, totally trustworthy with babies, puppies, everyone. Just the sweetest and most generous disposition. She was my most constant companion through my pregnancies and my postpartum weeks, and through a really hard time during the pandemic when my mental health fell apart and I struggled with insomnia.
We also have a 1.5 year old dog, so the house is not empty, but it will not be the same. I miss my girl.

Oh Susie, I'm sorry you had to say goodbye to your beloved dog Marcy. It's ok to not be ok about it. I did not understand grief for a pet until I experienced the passing of our dog in January 2020, and I still tear up thinking about her.
Oh Susie, my heart is breaking for you. Goldens are such special souls and it sounds like Marcy was no exception. I'm glad she had such a wonderful life with you and your family. (((hugs)))
