This morning's Covid test had a weak line for the positive so I'm hoping tomorrow morning I test negative so I can go into work. I feel good enough to do stuff now. Got a big presentation done this afternoon, so all I'll need to do is practice it (for a week from Monday). Cross your fingers for me that tomorrow I'm Covid negative!

Truly random…PDQ. Do you think people can casually use harder drugs just for fun on random weekends and maintain normal mostly healthy lives or do you think it usually turns bad at some point down the line?
H just found out a casual friend does coke on the weekends at times. We were surprised and also not. My parents had friends who were big into drugs and for the most part it always caught up with them. I just wonder how many people can be casual coke users and pick it up and put it down at will.
mcppalmbeach, that's a great question I was pondering lately also. H went to a college football tailgate a couple weeks ago and a friend of his brought along another acquaintance that we don't know as well. H said he set up the tables for the tailgate and the next time he turned around this dude was doing a line of coke off of one of them! I did not realize I knew anyone who did this casually.
True random question. Anyone color their hair an ash blonde color? What's the maintenance like?
What is your natural color? If you’re lightening it at all, ash colors are hard to maintain because all hair lightens warm at first and needs a toner to cool it down. And that toner washes out over time, even with the use of purple or blue shampoo. So you’d want to get it done (at least toned) probably every 4-6 weeks depending on how often you wash your hair.
mcppalmbeach - everyone I have ever known who played with that kind of fire eventually wound up getting burned. Of course, I don't know everyone on the planet who is playing with fire, so I don't want to make blanket statements. Maybe this person is okay 🤷♀️ ...for now.
Speaking from my own experience only... I'm "in control" until I am most definitely not. And I never remember where the line is because by the time I'm at that line I've also stopped caring.

I had a very unpleasant lunch while seated next to a family who decided to name their female child (I’m taking a guess at spelling) “Arian” like maybe “Ariana” Grande?) except they left off the last “A””) so the kid’s: name is “Arian”.
Replace the “I” with a “Y” and add Nation and what the actual fuck? Maybe they just don’t hear it? I really hope the old adage of not confusing stupidity with maliciousness holds true because ummm, 🤮

beerlover did anyone else mention it in the group? That’s crazy! My H had an after school special moment declining an offer to partake lol. But I can go have drinks and not drink again for six minths or longer so it seems feasible I guess that someone could do the same things with harder drugs.

Aryan is a very common Indian/Persian name.
Thank you for sharing! I had no idea and that makes way more sense.

If I have learned anything on the boards over the years, it’s to not judge names. There are too many reasons someone chooses a name that might not align with our style or customs.
It’s been a relatively low key weekend, but yesterday felt busy. Coached DS2’s soccer game, went to a shop nearby to get YoColorado hats for our leadership team meeting next month, and went to DS2’s friend’s fall party. It ended up just being most of their neighbors, who I don’t know, but I had a nice time and stayed a little longer than intended.
Today was more relaxed with meal prep and agility class for the pup. This was her first one after graduating from the fundamentals class and she absolutely crushed it! So proud.
I haven’t done much with Halloween costumes this weekend, but hopefully I’ll feel like picking it back up in the evenings this week. I’m so close to being done.
We go to Chicago early Thursday morning for the boys’ fall break and I’m really looking forward to it. I think we’re all going to have a great time.

mcppalmbeach Special occasions like fight night or monthly? Yes, that’s fine. Every weekend? No.
The true measure is seeking it out. If it’s around in a group setting and they indulge, then that’s perfectly fine. If they know where to buy it / procure it / they need it NOW? Massive 🚩

Growing up with a brother named Rake, I have no room to question other family names.

Is it pronounced like the garden tool? Is there a special meaning?

We have a close friend who is a regular user of shrooms. He runs a very successful business as a side project. He also is a licensed professional who does well for himself. So far he’s had zero issues maintaining his career and his private life. When he’s working he’s serious business. One the weekends he’s a completely different person.
It isn’t something H or I want to do. We are also very vocal about him calling us if he finds himself needing to drive or needs help.
With all of that said… it’s only one slip up or one accident away from ruining everything he’s worked hard to obtain.

Yes it is pronounced like the garden tool. All 5 of us kids have crazy first names and my parents will not tell us why we are named the way we are. There is no family history to these.
another funny tidbit is not one of us came home from the hospital with a name so all our birth certificates say "Baby Smith" (my last name is not Smith.)

Naturally dark blonde/light brown. The greys have been driving me insane so I was going down the Pinterest rabbit hole for for solutions for dark roots but annoying greys.

I almost, along with several other parents, got kicked out of DS’s game yesterday. And I am not sorry. They are 15/16 year olds and the adult refs let the game get completely out of control which ended with a giant brawl and a kid from the other team trying to choke DS’s teammate. The refs had no control, even trying to break up the fight and I let them know that along with the other parents. I have never lost it like that. My kid can’t stop laughing and my husband was watching the game live and texted who is the unhinged woman yelling at the ref knowing it was me. Oops. He did try to kick two moms out and that didn’t happen.
I absolutely loved my self-indulgent weekend (I had chocolate cheesecake for dinner last night).
And within an hour of getting home, we found out DS has impetigo. The doctor at the clinic gave him antibiotics, but also cleared him for school tomorrow! He's got crusty red sores and will have only had 12 hours of antibiotics, but Dr says he can go to school.
It’s really shocking how quickly I’ve gone from “this rescue dog was the biggest mistake of my life” to “I’m pretty sure I’d save my dog over my mom in a Sophie’s choice situation.”
