I have the windows open while I get ready. Glorious!
STBXH, my parents and I are taking DS to the pumpkin patch today. This part of coparenting is weird, but it makes DS happy and my parents are a good buffer.
I think today is going to be really nice out so I want to rip out the garden and spend some time outside. We are going to dinner and to see Niki Glaser with friends this evening.
My 100 year old grandmother passed from cancer today. She lived a very full life and had a party to celebrate her birthday and 50th anniversary instead of a funeral so there won’t be any services. I love that because I don’t want a funeral either but it feels weird just having nothing either. I’m worried my grandfather is going to follow soon. Even though they’re second marriages for both they’ve been married for 50 years and he’s been so sweet taking care of her and being in charge even though he’s not in great shape himself.
I’m in Ohio visiting family. The weather has been great and I’m even looking forward to the rain since it has been so hot at home. It’s still 85 at home, so I’ll soak up this cool fall air before I leave.
I loved first class so much, I upgraded on the way home too. I justify it because I am staying with family, almost all meals are covered. So my only expense is getting here.

My flight last night had a lot of turbulence. Probably the most I’ve ever experienced. It doesn’t really bother me but I do generally prefer the window shade to be open so I can see when we’re landing. I usually sit in the aisle though cause I often have to pee. Anyway, no one was in the window seat so I could keep the window shade open and all was fine!
Kinda not looking forward to this wedding in the cold lol, but I’m sure it’ll be fun…
I stayed up very late making a Brooklyn Blackout Cake (for no reason aside from it's my online baking club's monthly challenge) and also cinnamon rolls. I'm very tired but my house smells great this morning.
We have a slower-for-us weekend and the weather is perfect. I spent the morning watching GBBO with snuggled with my 6yo and puppy.
My friend is visiting, so it's kind of a busy weekend. This morning we walked my dog around our nearby lake, which went better than I expected - my dog loves to bark at other dogs but he actually did pretty well with most of them. Since it went well today, I will probably start doing that more often - I love walking around the lake and it's great exercise since it's about 4 miles of walking.
We are going to go watch college football and then probably go to an Oktoberfest at a brewery after. It's beautiful outside so I am especially looking forward to the second part of that.

No early morning hockey for DS this morning so we had a slow start for the first time in a while. Just got back from a good workout at the gym. I’m having a smoothie that tastes too much like the arugula I put in it. I’m avoiding H who is doing paperwork and keeps talking to me trying to get me to do chores he wants. I know I have things to do and will get to them in my own time, thank you very much.

We’re doing some work at my parents’ new house today.
Tonight we have tickets for a Halloween pop-up bar at a local place where the back half of the restaurant is all decked out in decorations and they have special themed drink and food menus. I might get the cranberry vodka cocktail that comes in a blood bag.

We're still fully in the "why did we do this to ourselves" phase of dog ownership (potty training + not being able to leave dog and toddler unsupervised take up a lot of time and energy), and I am solo parenting all weekend as H has a work event. I took L and Cookie out to breakfast and then to the park all morning, which was great until L was hungry and tired and had to pee on our way home, and suddenly I'm telling him getting a dog was a mistake, and maybe if he's going to act like this we should give her back. So. It's nap time now, and my goal for the afternoon is to be a slightly better person than *that*.

I took the dogs on a nice long walk at the dog park this morning, but forgot my Apple Watch. Lol. Then I stopped at McDonald’s on the way home, and spent $55 on breakfast. I figured out why it was higher than expected - I accidentally ordered an extra coffee. Oh well.
Delivery for our laundry center mover up from this afternoon to noon. We have drywall to continue, and I’m just soooooo looking forward to having this over with. I do like mudding and taping - it’s like frosting a cake.
Also, I got too many things from Amazon, and one package was misdelivered. I think it went to a neighbor’s porch down the street, so either me or DH will walk down there and see.
We went out to dinner yesterday and a family we went to preschool with was sitting a few tables away. We haven’t seen them in years and I was excited to show off our kids and find out what theirs had been up to, but they slipped out before I got the chance. I know there were probably reasons that didn’t have anything to do with us, but I’m still a little hurt at the non acknowledgment.
We watched The Shining, one of my favorite movies and the only horror film I like, with our 11 year old when we got home from dinner. I had been holding off because I was worried it was too much, but he loved it and aside from the oral sex scene which he audibly questioned what was happening, I think it was fine for him.
I recently discovered that I can screenshot cookbook recipes from kindle and then save them as pdfs to add to my meals calendar in Todoist. There are a bunch of cookbooks I’ve been eyeing on Amazon and I had the genius idea that I could borrow them on Libby and then I don’t have to buy them. Only, all of them have like 10-12 week hold waits. Whomp whomp.
I'm monitoring a play date for autistic adhd DS(8) right now. Only one meltdown when I wouldn't let him and his friend play with his dad's lego roller coaster set that is having issues lately.
After H gets back from hiking with a friend I plan to go to Starbucks since I have a $5 gift card.

My mom had a small stroke yesterday. If it was going to happen, it happened at the best possible place and she was able to get seen likely within 30 minutes of onset of symptoms. They gave her "clot busting medicine" and it helped within minutes. I think prognosis is good, still waiting on an MRI and ECG and she's likely staying one more night. Parents getting old is the worst.

Girl, you are me a month ago (we adopted Ziggy Sept 1st) and things are SO much better now. We are in a good groove and my (deep deep) regret is gone. Hang in there!
C has a soccer tournament about 90 minutes away this weekend. They lost their two games today horribly. His team is mostly 10 year olds and maybe one 11 year old. They typically play U12 but the division for this tournament is U13…so they were playing against a bunch of 12 year olds (and some nearly 13). We go back and play one more game tomorrow morning.

I happened meet last night with a friend who's a f&b manager at a small resort when he got notice that today there would be no water on the island (of 100k people, so it's not small) from 7a-10p today. Less than 12 hrs notice. I'm guessing (hoping!) it's a rolling outage, but there were no further details. Did I get notice? Not at all.
Water outages have happened without notice, but never in my neighborhood. I'm sure the fancy pants resorts have their stashes (we have big names like ritz, st regis, 4 seasons, etc), but the smaller places don't. He called his staff to start filling whatever containers they have.
Because I have to drink filtered water, it takes a bit of time to fill up a 5L container (tank holds only 1.5 and has to refill) I thankfully had on hand. I personally go through usually 2L/day, and the cats are as water greedy as I. If I were thinking clearly I'd have filled another container for toilet flushing.
I do hope that this is intended to fix some major pipe issues.

Thanks, and I'm glad you guys are on the other side now! I know it's normal, so I'm not freaking out about it, I'd just like to hurry up and get through it now.
Thankfully I did manage to be a more mature adult and kept my shit together through the afternoon, so gold star for me.

Either I lost a roast from my grocery order, or they forgot to put it in my bag. I guess I’m hoping for that latter? Even if it results in my being out money, I’d rather that than finding a several day out of refrigeration hunk of meat. It’s not in the fridge or freezer. Oh god, noooooo!
We had a fun day yesterday. Soccer game in the morning, went to an event at a brewery for lunch, then to a friend's patio to watch PSU/USC where PSU won in OT (not that I really care about football but everyone else's mood was good because of it!)
There's always a price to pay for being gone all day Saturday though so today I need to do a bunch of laundry, work out, walk, get a grocery order, and tidy up the house. We should still have some time to relax, though!
