If so, which ones and why?
I've recently added 5g creatine daily bc I was influenced on social media. I'm think I might like to add magnesium bc 50% of the time I wake up at 3am and cannot fall back asleep. Aside from that, I'm a (thankfully) healthy 45 year old and I eat a pretty balanced diet. I'm not sure if any supplements or vitamins are really necessary?? I do want to support my aging body/brain but it's hard to know what's actually legit. MH on the other hand takes a host of vitamins for pain and joint health- turmeric, D3, COQ10... idk if they really help or not?
I take a bunch honestly. I don't know if they all help but I can tell you when I run out of my turmeric or forget it for whatever reason, I feel it. It really does help me with joint pain.
I take a Flintstones chewable. Sometimes two. Sometimes I throw in another gummy vitamin, like calcium or an Omega-3, but I'm not consistent about anything but the multivitamin.
I have tried multiple times over the years but have yet to find an "adult" vitamin that doesn't make me nauseous, even with food/water. So Flintstones Complete it is, and my 80s-child heart still likes the pink ones the best.
The biggest thing for me is that when I am consistent about taking the multivitamin daily, I notice a huge difference in the state of my lips. I've had issues with severe dryness/peeling for years and no amount of moisturizing or drinking water helped. I got frustrated, did some googling and it turns out that some vitamin deficiencies (certain B vitamins, iron, niacin) can cause flaky lips. Once I started taking a multivitamin daily, my lips improved SO much. And if I don't do it for a few days, they start to get peely again. So I see direct and noticeable benefit from the one vitamin that I bother to take.
I take Amberen Perimenopause, multivitamin with iron, probiotic, magnesium glycinate, melatonin for sleep, and at the moment I'm taking prescription vitamin D.
At my last physical, my doctor suggested having my vitamin D levels checked and they were extremely low. I really thought they would be normal because I'm outside a decent amount, and it was right after summer. They really should make vitamin D testing part of the routine panel! I've probably been deficient for a long time and just chalked up the symptoms to other things.

I take a multi vitamin every day plus Vitamin D. After a bad round of constant illness last year I am taking my doctor’s advice on both. Not sure if they are actually doing anything though.

I take vitamins D3, C, and B12, all on the recommendations of a doctor. I could actually probably stop the B12 now because the reason it was recommended was because another med I was taking makes the absorption of B12 harder, and I am not currently taking that med.
I take a women's multi-vitamin that are the "petite" ones that are smaller, so 2 of those. Then vitamin d because my bloodwork showed my levels were low.
I take a probiotic in the morning and magnesium glycinate at night. I really should take a calcium supplement, but I haven’t found one I like and will take consistently.

I take MHT, Magnesium, Probiotics, Collagen, Creatine, and Digestive Enzymes because I have a crap stomach. I'm not knowingly deficient in anything and eat a healthy diet so I don't take any other types of vitamins/supplements.
The collagen and creatine I add to my morning coffee.
I take magnesium glycinate and find that it really does help me with staying asleep. I also started taking a multivitamin recently and I don't know that it does much but whatever. Both in gummy form because I'm 5.
I take Vitamin D3 at the recommendation of an OB I had like 15 years ago. I don't know why that stuck, but it did. Probably because it's just a small gelcap that's not hard to swallow. I also take 1g melatonin but maybe I should switch to magnesium glycinate from what I'm reading here.
I'll take zinc gummies if I feel sickness coming on. I do feel like they help, as I'm only ever sick for a couple days, but they could also be doing nothing lol.
I take daily vitamin gummies, fiber gummies, and probiotic gummies. I take the daily vitamin to ensure I am getting the necessary vitamins and minerals. I take the fiber and probiotic gummies at the recommendation of my gastroenterologist due to gastrointestinal issues.
I take -vitamin D3 (have been slacking on remembering, but now that winter is coming I'll start up again) -vitamin B12 -fish oil -Magnesium (Glycinate) at night
Magnesium has been a godsend for me. I rarely wake up in the middle of the night now. It's not an immediate fix though. I think I read it takes a few weeks for it to help and up to 60 days of taking it consistently for it to really start fully working.
adding to the choir of magnesium to try to help with sleep. i just started a few days ago so hard to know if it's making a difference yet, but the past couple of nights i've gone from waking up at 3am to 4:30, so maybe?
i'll also be adding vitamin d and calcium thanks to this thread
I’m like your H - I take a multi, calcium, vitamins C and D, Omega 3, and CoQ10. Some are related to health conditions are some are just because I think they’re a good idea.
Pretty much everyone is Vitamin D deficient I think so I take that to make sure I can absorb calcium. The only other thing I take is an iron supplement because I seem to be chronically low and it was getting annoying being turned away from blood donation appointments all the time.
I take the OLLY Probiotic+Prebiotic gummy and a Vitamin D softgel that I got at Costco. I also like the OLLY Energy gummies, which are B12 and CoQ10 I think.
I’d like to add that it’s nice to not see any of the typical “supplement are worthless; you’re pissing your money away!!!” comments that usually appear in these posts. Good supplements aren’t worthless, and sometimes they are needed.
I do agree that brand is important. Pure Encapsulations is one that’s regarded as having high standards for their ingredients and manufacturing. They’re one of my go to brands.
