I do full size bars and usually get the Hershey's 30 packs from Costco which has Reece's, Hershey's Bar, Hershey's Almond Bar, and KitKats. I also give out Shooters for adults, last year I did Fireball and Banana's 99.
Full size candy bars. We're in the back of our neighborhood and the neighborhood is pretty big so I want to reward the folks that make it that far back!
I let David pick his favorites. It's usually a huge bag of mixed mini chocolate bars and a huge bag of that gummy/hard candy that everyone on here hates. I don't give full size, but I do give very big handfuls!
Huge bag at Costco of as many mixed chocolate stuff as possible and a smaller bag of a mix of gummies and fruit stuff that is nut free. I keep them separate. We don't have a ton of kids in our neighborhood and ours isn't an area where people can easily move from subdivision to subdivision so I've thought about just doing full size but it varies so much from year to year, I've never perfected how much to get.
I usually get some mix that includes Snickers, 3 Musketeers, Reeces, Twix, Milky Way, and then something fruity like Starburst and Skittles. I do fun size, though those are getting surprisingly harder to find - I accidentally bought some minis from Aldi last week so now I need to get something bigger.
I'd love to do full size bars but I've never seen them for a price I want to spend. I am also never sure how many to plan for! This is our first year with a dog so I'm also going to have to see how things go with him - we may not give out candy long if he's too crazy.
We just buy a big mix. We get a ton of kids in our current neighborhood so I don’t buy full size bars. I do give two smaller pieces per kid though. So I just get the assortments that have the most good sounding variety, like Hershey’s, Reese’s, Snickers, Twizzlers. I try to do a mix of chocolate and non-chocolate.

Full size of Hershey's bars, Twix and Kitkat I think and then another full size box of three different types of M&Ms. I also got a bag of fun size Reeses pumpkins as a back up, but to be honest, they're mostly for me lol.
This year we have a chocolate mix, fun dip, and rice krispy treats.
I have had multiple years where I waited until the week of Halloween to buy the candy and it's already out of stores. So we have been the house doing Tastycakes and bags of chips, or Christmas candy LOL.
I was on top of it this year though.
Usually we get whatever we personally like (twix and kit kats) in case of leftovers.

Full sized Twix and Snickers. They're free with purchase of a fountain soda at my convenience store in September and October and my 5x a week habit is enough for number of kids we get.
We haven't been home the past few years, but before that we would get 4 - 6 giant bags of fun size chocolate and gummy stuff from Costco/BJs. Our neighborhood gets hundreds of kids, people drop their kids off here because it's a grid and very walkable.
Now that we go to our friend's we ToT in their neighborhood and there is one house that is always super decked out and they have hot chocolate, it's the kid's favorite stop.
When we do it at our campground, I have one basket with Reese's peanut butter cups, peppermint patties and Kit Kats. I have another basket with dye free candy (my son is dye free) and items like pencils and stickers. Amazingly, many kids, even including older ones, dive for the pencils especially. I get cute Halloween ones from the dollar store.

We do full-sized bars, usually an assortment of the chocolate favorites, and then I also usually get a mixed pack of skittles and starbursts. We also put out a container of small bags of chips, because we buy multi-packs for dh's and the kids' lunches, and there are always flavors that don't get eaten. I start saving those in a box at the beginning of the school year, and then usually add an additional box (this year I picked Takis at my kids' requests). Similarly, we buy multipacks of Ice drink, and tend to have like 8-10 bottles of flavors that aren't the favorite, so I put those out too, and they have gone quickly the past few years when it's been unseasonably warm.

Our co-op has a million rules, including being nut/peanut free. I think this year I might just do Pirate Booty, skittles/sour patch kids/swedish fish because we have some vegan kids, and then temporary tattoos or non-edible options.
This year we have ring pops, sour patch kids, and Swedish fish. I think I am going to pick up some snickers and chips, too. We usually leave out a bowl of candy and it goes pretty fast.
We switched to full size bars for Halloween a few years ago. With hunting a deal- I've been able to stick to the 0.50/bar. This year we have Hershey's and Reese's plus some slap bracelets, tattoos, bouncy balls for kids that can't eat chocolate.
For trunk or treat- I did DumDums, nerds, Trollis- all fruity/non-chocolate without nuts- since it's at the school. Those are all fun size. I'll have the same non-candy options there too.
I do some kind of candy mix that isn't chocolate like lollipops, Skittles, etc, since DS has peanut and tree nut allergies and can't have most of the chocolate candy, and he is bummed when we give out candy he can't even have.
This year rice crispy treats and a bag of Costco candy (if my H doesn’t eat it all first). When we first moved in we handed out mini bags of microwave popcorn, they were a huge hit but not sold in bulk at Sam’s/Costco around here anymore.

Full size bars - usually a mix of candy stuff and chocolate. The candy stuff like sour straws always go first. I also put out an array of other things like popcorn, apple sauce pouches, etc. At this point, the mini candy is so small and pricey it's not even that great an increase to hand out full size bars b/c most people give 2-3 little ones.

Jeez! So you have the fun house! Were you the one last year that passed out mini bottles of liquor to the adults?
David came back with two enormous bags of candy- once all chocolate and one a mix of chocolate/fruity. It's going to be way too much for us, but I'm sure it'll get ate between his friends, David and my H!

Nope, not me. We don't open the door for trick-or-treaters, I just put everything on a table at the bottom of our driveway (I used to because I would be going around with my kids, but now that they are older and go alone, I realized my 2 dogs would go crazy barking if left outside or if I was trying to open the door repeatedly, so we've stuck with it).
We live in a small neighborhood (one street off a main street that comes down a hill and Y's into 2 cul de sacs, probably total of 50 houses), and it only takes my kids 45 min. to hit every house on those 2 streets if they don't want to venture out of our neighborhood, but they still come home with plenty because everyone here tends to go all-out. Sometimes I actually get sad that they don't get any of the 'junk' candy that was good once a year when I was a kid, like bit 'o honey and stuff like that.
Whatever bag includes Almond Joys and then I pick them out to save for myself. Controversial, I know.
LOL I do this with peanut M&Ms.
We do 2 big bowls, regular and teal for allergies. The regular we fill with the Costco fun size chocolate mix which has most of the candy I like (Hersheys, Milky Way, Twix, etc) and then we throw dum dums, smarties and a bunch of toys in the other bucket. This year I got slap bracelets and stretchy toys. We don't get a ton of kids, so we usually have candy leftover, which is why I buy the stuff I like.
Am I the only one that doesn't like full size candy bars? It is too much for my kids. And after Covid a lot of houses in our area give out bags prefilled with a bunch of candy (like treat bags) and I hate it. I'd rather they just pick a few things they like and keep them fun size. We ended up donating, posting on Buy Nothing, or throwing away a lot of candy after Halloween.
