What station is everyone watching tonight (if at all?)
I know I cannot handle Wolf Blitzer, so it won’t be CNN.
I’m always an MSNBC girl unless Andrea Mitchell and Katy Tur are on. They are off now and it’s safe.
I kept myself really busy today to avoid being over anxious. I got the sticker shot from my last family member that hadn’t voted yet in Texas. All my friends and family are calling or texting and checking in. It feels like THE most important day and we all know it.
I just saw Paul Rudd handing out water to the hours long lines of Temple U students in Philly. I just burst out crying. Young people and old ladies. Women and the men that love us. What a beautiful blue world. 💙💙

We don’t have cable so I was hoping MSNBC might be available on Peacock, which we do have. Unfortunately not. There is, however, a Kornacki cam, and it just shows him frantically tapping away at his touchscreen board, looking at counties in Indiana currently. I might just have to watch that for the comedic relief!

Pour one out for the tech and design teams tonight-my husband works for a major news organization and ALL of their interactive widgets just...disappeared from the website and app. Just poof! No maps, nothing.
@@ We were expressly told that we can't express our political ideas at work because impressionable children, but 1) I wore my Kamala shirt under my sweater today and 2) pretty much every teacher was wearing blue, so noticeably that kids (8th graders, who notice nothing) asked if it was intentional.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

I watched the Kornacki cam, too, and I feel a little guilty. Like, should we give him a moment of peace? I need to see his enthusiastic consent to the full-time cam before I can decide, lol.

So true! It’s like when Taylor Swift has a camera on her the whole time at an awards show. Do they actually want that? Probably not. But, for Kornacki it is his moment to shine, so maybe he’s okay with it?

@@@@ In my DD’s pickup line today I noticed her music teacher was wearing pearls so I yelled out the window “I love your pearls!”
She got the biggest smile and said “if you know, you know!”

@@@@@ DD's 1st grade teacher held a mock election (we are in very red FL). 9 kids voted Trump, 6 for Harris. I'm not sure how I felt about that honestly. DD said she picked Harris because H is closest to her name that starts with an A. But she knows I'm voting Harris. The teacher didn't share any of her views, but it still seemed weird.

@@ My 4th grader had a mock election and he said something like 74% voted for 45 in our very red area. My 1st grader, who is very pro Harris, said her classmate called Harris "stupid" and that she "lets all the bad guys in". 🙄
It always surprises me when people don't vote. H's extended family all have strong political opinions but I learned in 2020 they don't vote. Ever.
H took DD to an activity tonight and was talking to someone there who has expressed strong political opinions throughout this election cycle. He came home shocked bc she told him that she didn't vote.
All of the people I'm talking about would have voted for Trump, had they voted, so I'm not exactly sad about it. But JFC people, we live in Pennsylvania and you have strong political opinions. It's fascinating to me what would be going through their mind that they wouldn't vote.

It's my grandkiddo's 21st birthday. It's also the day GK learned she is getting separated from the military for medical reasons. She is pretty devastated. I'm hoping ex will be able to talk her through some stuff since he was also disabled; I'll be able to talk her through some other stuff since I had to be his support and I'll be hers as well.
On the election front, i spent this afternoon knocking on doors to make sure folks had already turned in their ballots and if not, they should drop them off at a ballot box rather than a mail box to ensure they are properly counted. (They need to be POSTMARKED by 5:00 p.m. on November 5 if they are mailed. They can be handed/dropped off at ballot boxes until 8:00 pm and most ballot boxes are manned by elections workers; as long as you are in line your ballot will be taken and counted.)
Friend just posted a pic of the line out of the auditor's office. They are having late hours for in-person voting (we're a 100% mail in state but you CAN go in person to the auditor's office and...election day only...to local libraries for voter assistance or to drop off your ballot in person. The line was not only to the door, but out the door and wrapped around the corner and down the side street.
