good news - 1st time in history we will have 2 black Senators, we have our first Korean American senator
I have the CNN county map pulled up. The rural counties looks like they are nearly all counted (in the 90%s), but the areas around Philadelphia are at 11%, 36%, 40%. We'll see a big swing there with those vote dumps.
I'm looking at my home county at 95% reported. Have they opened the absentee ballots yet? If not, there one more coming for Harris!!
I am very fortunate that I've never had to wait more than 10-15 minutes. Maybe this is a dumb question but how do they handle elderly or disabled people who cannot physically stand in line for 3 hours? Is someone offering them chairs? Are they expected to bring their own?
I was in (a 10-15 minute) line today with an older woman who was absolutely losing her mind because her husband wouldn't be able to stand very long and she wanted him to get to the polls in time to jump the line in front of her. He didn't make it but I saw him in line with a walker when I left. I'm sure he was fine for 15 minutes, but not sure how it would have worked if he'd needed to wait hours.
Also, I am not watching TV, just reading. I wish it weren't so close but nothing I'm seeing is shocking-- no states called so far have flipped from 2020. PA isn't going to be called tonight. And a lot of the other close states probably won't either. I know we all have PTSD from 2016, but I think we all need to take a deep breath.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
Have you seen any (local) coverage about mail in ballots? Over 1.9M were returned with 2:1 dem to rep party lines. Aside from having 10x more people processing them I can't figure out if there is a significant amount outstanding.
The mail ins are what threw the race to Biden last time

I could be wrong, but I think I heard one of the talking heads somewhere say they were processing mail-in ballots first. Which is why the initial numbers reported had Harris with such a wide lead out the gate.
You can’t panic over the red mirage. I’ve seen some news outlets call some states and I look at other outlets that don’t call it and show the opposite. Let’s see what things look like at midnight pacific and how much counting is left to do. We didn’t even know until Friday or Saturday last time. As much as we wanted a landslide, I don’t think we’ll know tonight. Small red counties finish counting first. Big blue counties had massive turnout. All the republicans saying they were voting for Harris has to mean something. 55% women to 45 men voting has to mean something.
Nevada voting locations are closed but there are still 1-3 hour long lines…now THIS should not be allowed ever..and should be illegal regardless on who you are voting for.
NV will not report ANY results until all voters have voted....so maybe midnight?
Correct
And to be clear on my comment…having to wait in line for 1/2 hour, an hour…3 hours should be illegal.
Voting should be easy and convenient for everyone regardless of the state or county they live in.
Is there a reason why Minnesota has such a low vote count reported? I'm expecting it to go for Harris/Walz because... Walz. But it's been sitting at 11% reporting for a long time now.

In Australia postal voting is very common but assume in the US this isn't a reason you can posta vote? We even set up poll booths in the prisions on election day so realise very different systems voting wise

I don't think the big counties have reported yet at all. These numbers are crap right now 😂

MN polls close on the later side (8 CT) and our vote count always takes forever for whatever reason.
In 2020, Biden took an early, temporary lead after mail voting results began to be released shortly after polls closed at 8 p.m. ET. By about 10 p.m. ET, Trump took the lead as more results from Election Day voting were released. By early Wednesday morning, Trump led Biden by nearly 700,000 votes, but that lead would gradually shrink as more mail ballots were tabulated. Biden eventually retook the lead by Friday morning.
I am not promising anything. If anything, I'm usually a pessimist. I'm just saying that this is a marathon, not a sprint.

Mail in voting has become more common since the 2020 elections. Republicans in general tend to distrust it and claim it’s voting fraud so a lot of people who could/should vote by mail, don’t.
I am in a historically red county in central Oregon. Right now, we are at 54% for Harris. I will cry if TFG wins, but the fact that my county might be becoming more normal is so wonderful to see.
Per CNN just now, 2nd batch of PA mail in ballots will be released at 11:55. I don't know *where* the batch can be attributed to (urban vs rural or mix)
An election worker in Detroit was involved in a multiple vehicle crash while transporting ballots. Fingers crossed they are okay as they were taken to the hospital. Police secured the ballots until another election worker could arrive.
That could be part of the reason for the delay in Wayne County counting.
I’m going to try and go to bed, prepare for a Trump win…thinking of my next steps of how to fight for our democracy and protect our people. And also hope to wake up and find out all of that was for nothing and she’s ahead.

I know in Georgia if you are 75 or older or disabled you go to front of line
I don’t trust the whole “mail in ballots tend to lean blue” anymore. I think there is a high chance we will see more Republicans vote by mail this year.
