I would like for you to explain how I am a "fake Jew". Is this because I once called the way in which I tie my scarf a tichel (because, you know, the sites I bought said scarves from online sold them as tichels). You explained to me a year ago what tichel meant, I learned, and changed the description of my headcovering to a scarf.
As for me wearing my scarf tied that way in order to appear Jewish - that isn't the case. I wear it that way because it stays on my head that way. I think you'll find Christian women around the world also wearing their scarves that way as well.
If I walk down the street with my scarf tied around my bun in that manner, people don't assume I'm Jewish. For all they know it could simply be a non-religious accessory. Jewish women where I live do not wear headcoverings in that style. Muslim women, however, do wear the hijab around here, which is why I avoid wearing it in that style.
If I wanted to pretend to be Jewish, I guess I would buy a wig to cover my hair, right? A scarf as a headcovering isn't inherently Jewish, but a wig for religious reasons is.
I'm not Jewish, but I do recognize that the history of my religion was founded in Judaism. There are some rituals and parts of my worship life that may be similar to Judaism, but I do not feel bound to any type of Jewish Law.
Please explain how I am a fake Jew. Do you categorize all headcovering Christian women that way, or just me because I called a scarf sold to me as a tichel what I thought it was.
As I walk through the valley where I harvest my grain I take a look at my wife and realize she's very plain But that's just perfect for an Amish like me You know, I shun fancy things like electricity At 4:30 in the morning I'm milkin' cows Jebediah feeds the chickens and Jacob plows... fool And I've been milkin' and plowin' so long that Even Ezekiel thinks that my mind is gone I'm a man of the land, I'm into discipline Got a Bible in my hand and a beard on my chin But if I finish all of my chores and you finish thine Then tonight we're gonna party like it's 1699
We been spending most our lives Living in an Amish paradise I've churned butter once or twice Living in an Amish paradise It's hard work and sacrifice Living in an Amish paradise We sell quilts at discount price Living in an Amish paradise

I don't think so, 2V. I'm pretty sure Jews for Jesus are Jewish or were Jewish and converted but still hold to many Jewish traditions.
These would be opposite, people who are Christian and have decided to pick up Jewish traditions.
Got it. I'm not sure why it is a bad thing to bring in some Jewish traditions as Jesus was Jewish...as long as they aren't religious traditions that go against the Christian Faith.
I'm still not understanding how this all came about. What else does AW do that's fake? This seems like a left-field post. Someone enlighten me! Don't let my popcorn go to waste.

Yeah but we aren't talking about some traditions. We're talking about taking on the whole kit and kaboodle and then being all, I'm Jewish tooooooo! (but not really)

It's totally not. When it's an authentic use of a previously used culture. When someone annexes a portion of a culture or religion then claims their own use of it superior..well, that's when the charge of hippo-crate and faker make sense
I guess I don't see where anyone is saying it is superior. I see it as acknowledging roots and honoring them.

i had a friend who was a Jew for Jesus and he emphatically denied being a Christian.

But from what I'm reading in the back story, AW was appropriating Jewish customs and then rejecting them because she didn't want to be mistaken for Jewish or Muslim. Doesn't Christianity have enough rituals and observances that she doesn't need to take on others from religions she doesn't want to be mistaken for? It's weird.
No, in many circles they are saying, look, we married Jewish and Christian traditions in a way that's decidedly more awesome than either Judaism or Christianity.
And as for what they are calling themselves, it depends on the group but usually, they call themselves perfected.

I've had Christian and Jewish friends do that Messianic thing. The Christians adopted pseudo-kosher habits and celebrated passover, and the Jews took up easter egg hunting.

I feel like the easter egg hunting jews are kinda missing the boat there.
That's not picking up christian traditions - that's being a pagan.
As for the topic at hand - I don't get it. Is it the head covering thing? Because she wears the same style of head covering as some jewish people? Aren't there only so many ways you can wrap some cloth around your head? Or are there other Jewish-ish things that aw does that I've missed?

You are so not reading AW. She is the most pompous "holier than thou" poster ever. Worse than me, even.
Well, to be fair, I have not read that entire thread....and I don't want to. Maybe I see things differently because I have been on both sides of the fence, so to speak.
