I HATE Trump but am more than disappointed in Biden. He is a moderate Republican in nature. He completely flipped on student loans and for what? Republicans will always hate him just because he's a dem and democrats are hating him because he keeps "compromising." His approval rates aren't good and we are screwed for mid-terms. So yeah, I too am not optimistic.
On a global scale of conservatism to liberalism, yeah, he is. But our choices were him and Orange Foolius. This is getting into "but her emails" territory.

Hair chalk, bath bombs, nail polish, hair accessories for the girls. I was not allowed to have anything with an open flame in college.
For my son (age 10), I'm getting two Hot Wheels exotics (he's into supercars), squished animal bookmarks, Slapzi (From the makers of Tenzi), and a popper fidget toy in Pokemon shapes, plus candy.

I'm in the Philly suburbs (Montco). We still have substantial COVID spread, even though about 50 to 60% of eligible people are vaccinated. The PA Supreme Court recently struck down the DOH's mask mandate, but DS' school is keeping their mandate in place. They are in school full days, 5 days a week, and DS's class has not had to quarantine at all this year. Most stores require or "strongly recommend" masks, and we always wear them. I'd say 75% of other people in the stores wear them.
DS played soccer this past fall, and after-school activities for elementary school are coming back in January.

He's in fourth grade, just turned 10.
This fall, he did soccer (travel league, by accident -- my fault for not reading the sign up email all the way through), so he had practice two nights a week, and games on Saturdays.
He also has in-home drum lessons on Thursdays after school.
We did soccer AND fall baseball at the same time one year. Never again.
ETA: Elaborating on my answer now that I'm on a laptop and not my phone.
Did they have any activities that met more than once a week? Yes, soccer.
If all the parents in the house also work, how did you line activities up with work schedules? Soccer practices were in the evening, so if H was home from work, he'd take him; if he had to work late, I'd take him. Games were on the weekends. We can manage after-school drum lessons because A) they're at home, and B) I'm still working remotely.
If your kid meets or has at times met the ADHD or SPD criteria did you pick specific activities that you/your teacher/your pediatrician thought might help? DS has diagnosed ADHD combined type. Our pediatrician didn't specify a particular activity to help, just encourages us to help DS explore his interests.

I will not volunteer for DS' school HSA. The current co-president was one of the room moms who wanted the then-second-grade classes to host a diaper drive for a crisis pregnancy center, and publicly insulted me (along with her husband who questioned my mental health) for suggesting a different, more neutral charity, so I want as little contact with her as necessary.
Our school's education fund (separate from the HSA, but run by many of the same people from the HSA) hosts a clothing drive fundraiser with a for-profit company that sells the clothes to "third-world" (their term, from their website) countries. Hell yes, I'm going to speak up about that.

Since September, there've been some occasions where I wish DS had a way to communicate to me whether to pick him up or not. Once, I forgot to go get him at dismissal. Other times, he WANTS to stay after school and play on the playground with his friends, so I'm going over at dismissal for nothing and having to go back and get him an hour later.
However, I *don't* want him to have a phone. He's not responsible enough to take care of it/not lose it or break it. He doesn't have enough self-restraint to not play with it during class time.
Are there any other options? He has a school Chromebook and knows how to email me, but the WiFi signal isn't strong enough to reach outside and he can't get back in after dismissal and half the time, he forgets to pack it in his backpack to bring home.
Ooh, that sounds like the cookie icing I make with dried fondant powder. Tastier, and dries glossy. I might try this, since dried fondant powder is so hard to find.

DS and I are going to make a gingerbread house from scratch.
I'm going to make chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, and oatmeal cranberry cookies. Maybe another variety or two, like chocolate cookies with peanut butter chips.
DS wants to make chocolate crinkle cookies from a past Raddish box.
We have a herd of deer that live in our neighborhood and those assholes poop in my yard all the time. They never pick it up either. Jerks.
I got lectured once for letting my dog walk over someone's rock-hard-frozen mulch on a walk around our neighborhood in the dead of winter, and since then I only let him walk in yards if I'm personal friends with the homeowners. He is a special snowflake who won't poop on a leash so at least I'm not leaving poop crumbs behind us.
I used to walk dogs in the area of Northern Liberties/Olde Kensington. A lady yelled at me for letting a dog pee on a tree, because she keeps it clean "for the squirrels."

Probably something like the Loew's at 12th and Market, or the Downtown Marriott. Between the two venues, and close to Reading Terminal Market, Old City, and other things to do. Plus easy to get public transit or a cab to the museums on the other side of Broad Street.
I care. Depending on what I’m baking. The average person probably doesn’t.
What's the difference? Performance? Flavor?
I assume it doezmt matter much for stuff like cookies or thickening a gravy but like baguette it may?
There are small differences among brands, but most often, using the right TYPE of flour (all purpose, bread, pastry, cake, etc.) matters more to the average home baker.
For something like a baguette, with very few ingredients, I'd use the best brand I could afford, because there's few flavors to mask poor quality.
How does that work? H needs a sleep study, but just recently started a new job and hasn't built up enough PTO yet.
Let me call my SIL and see what they had to do. I know what ever he had they hooked up at home. I’ll get back to you.
redheadbaker . SIL said her H had to send a request to the sleep specialist, who sends a request to the medical supply store, where he picked up a machine to take home. He connects leads to his chest (peel and stick), and wore an O2 thing on his finger for a couple nights. I can’t remember if he dropped the machine back to the med supply store, or the specialist, but specialist reads it and orders CPAP if necessary.
SIL said all the studies are at home now, because it’s cheaper? I hadn’t heard that, but H got his machine over 5 years ago. I also don’t know if BIL had to have an in person consult with the sleep Dr before all this went on. I’m pretty sure the ones we see would still want an in person consult.

I'm doing an at home sleep study today/tonight. I have an appointment at 2pm today to pick up the equipment. I'll use the equipment tonight and return it tomorrow. I'm happy to give you more detailed info/steps/pictures if you want. LMK.
Thanks! If you want, message me on Facebook for privacy.
For those whose H’s won’t go for a sleep study, check and see if the Dr will do an at home option. My BIL, had that done, and was measured for a CPAP after the study.

Also, I DREAD tomorrow when we have dinner with my Republican extended family. One of them ALWAYS brings up current political shit in conversation. I worry I'm going to blow and say things I may regret.
I've started getting up and leaving when that happens. I was scared to at first, but it got easier. Happens less now, too.
