E (10 year old) says she still believes. A couple years ago she asked about different Santa’s and I said Santa has helpers. And she thought that made a lot of sense.
I’m sad this is probably the last year.
I said the same thing when DS asked a couple of years ago.
Is this true?! I must’ve missed it. While they were discussing the request for mistrial with prejudice, the judge’s phone started ringing with the song “God Bless the USA”.

I talked to the parent of one of DS' soccer teammates who works there. He said it's not a university-wide ban, but it's a department-by-department guideline. IE, your department head and manager need to be ok with it.

This campus is a short commute -- even shorter than the commute to my current office building (which I'm not making because WFH). If they allowed SOME remote work, even 2 days (which is what I had before COVID), I'd be more excited.
But anyway, I just got a third interview request from the other (bigger, more prominent) university I was also interviewing with (which is further away but does offer telework).
redheadbaker , does your FIL have anyone living with him to keep an eye on him? I'd be concerned if he's forgetting something like that and didn't have anyone near by to check in on him.
For me, yes. It would be a dealbreaker. My job is a basic computer job and there is no need to be in an office full time. Once or twice a week is fine for me but five days is not for me anymore.
Yeah, I'd be in marketing -- not student-facing. My job can easily be done 100% remotely.

With so many people leaving jobs, looking for new jobs, etc. I have a question.
If a company prohibited working from home as a policy (although temporarily being flexible if you or a minor need to quarantine), would that be a deal-breaker for you?
I was really excited about the prospect of working at my alma mater. I just had a third-round interview with the VP of marketing. The money isn't great, but medical benefits seem good, decent PTO/sick time (about the same as I'm getting at my current job, though once January hits, I'll be getting more PTO at my current job b/c of my 5-year anniversary with them). I doubt I'd take much advantage of the tuition benefits myself and DS is still only in elementary school.
They don't allow working from home. I currently WFH full-time, and if/when the office re-opens, I doubt I'd be in much more than once a week. I've had the ability to work from home at least a couple of days a week for years, I don't think I can go back to being in the office 5 days a week. It's been so good for my mental health to work at home a few days a week.

FIL (has lupus, is fully vaccinated plus got his booster) has COVID. H talked to him on the phone today, and he totally forgot that we have two dogs. I'm concerned.

We had a warmer than usual October, and now temperatures have tanked and we are unprepared. DS needs a jacket somewhere between a fleece/hoodie and his winter coat.

We had gotten an appointment at a CVS about 20 minutes away, but then another parent at DS' school told me that the county clinic where I had gotten my shot was now scheduling for kids, so I was able to get him a (sooner) appointment closer to home. Win-win!

It's hard to complete open enrollment (particulary decide how much money to put into dependent care FSA) when you're not sure if you'll still be at your job by then. 🤞🏻
