jennlin, I'm sorry you're struggling with eczema too. From what I've heard it goes hand in hand with food allergies . If you want anything new to try, we've had reasonable success with using the original A&D ointment (ie the one with no zinc) on G's eczema patches. Aquafor worked ok for us too. And every night before bed, we put on her "sock puppets" ie a pair of socks pulled up over her elbows with a pair of baby legs on top. It helps keep her from scratching as much MOTN.
his eczema is most of his body--not just patches.. starting this week, i've also tried extra extra rinsing his clothes, to see if it's laundry detergent issue. we use CD and the same detergent for clothes and CD, and there's no(t a lot of) eczema under his diaper, but it might be because i rinse the crap out of those (literally) after i use the detergent.
boy continues to be a challenge to us every single day. he is really high needs, and is exhausting. as you can see in the picture, he has intensely dry skin, and i slather it several times a day with coconut oil. he seems to be allergic to the eczema lotion we were using before. i will try that again once everything clears up to see if it's really that. i'm currently eliminating dairy, soy, and seafood in my diet, and i think i finally see a little bit of clearing up in his skin. it drives me insane. i love seafood. we have his 4 mo visit tomorrow, and i will ask for a referral for an allergy test. we never did the allergy test for bjl bc hers was clear cut, obvious, that it was milk, and milk only. boy just has so much going on, i don't know what to do anymore. i constantly hear his tummy gurgle, like something is upsetting him, so i know i'm not fully there yet on the correct eliminations. also, in the last week, he has become super ninja and scratching his face like crazy. we cut his nails super short, every other day, but somehow he's still getting scratches. he now has socks on his hands, bc gloves just don't work!
bjl is TWO. i still can't believe that. in her picture, she's laying on the bathroom floor, slowly dying because she didn't want to put on a diaper. drama queen.
Well poo, I had planned to trade ours in for a convertible one as well, missed it by days!
Anyone know when the next trade in event is? Or is only once a year?
They don't do it on a schedule, and after the last one (before this last one) they said they weren't going to do it anymore, and it surprised everyone that they did another. Before they announced that they weren't doing it anymore. They did them maybe 3-4xs a year.
Your typo-d thread subject made me think at first you were storing Stooges and I paused, "I didn't know she had a secret 3 Stooges collection!" Sigh, it's been a long day! I tried finding a funny picture of them in a box to post but no such luck.
Lol I didn't even notice the typo, and that's a pretty big one. #tired.
Luggage! That's a good one! We keep suitcases out in the garage but have 2 or 3 weekend/overnight bags we keep in our closet on the floor. Off the floor is better.
Oh, luggage is a good idea. We currently keep that in our too-full-under-the-stair storage. I'll still have a bit of extra space after this.
LOL, I really don't have much clothes (and my closet is pretty big)-- definitely don't need to store seasons up there. All my clothes are already in the closet, and I have the extra space. @ksta, in theory, it'd be a great space for shoes, but I have all my shoes in the garage, since we don't wear shoes inside the house, ever
Oh, I also need a stepladder to get to it, because it's about 7feet high.
I never bought much maternity clothes, and if I did, I still wear it! I have a friend who is 3 months pregnant right now and I only have like 2 things that I will not wear anymore (I bought mostly versatile pieces), and I plan on giving it to her.
I will probably start with kids clothes, I suppose. All of bjl's old clothes are boxed up, but in her own room.
I have some extra storage space in my walk-in closet that's not being utilized. I'm not huge on shopping/clothes, so I just don't have the clothes to fill it up. It's a shelf (on top of the hanging rack), and I have 2 sections..one is about 4 feet long, the other is about 7 feet long. The 4 foot one has about 2 feet of height above it, the 7 feet one has about 3-4 feet in height.
WWYD with this storage space? I'm thinking something along the lines of towels? Bed Sheets? Kids stuff we haven't opened yet or outgrown?
Oh I thought I should add that we finally got the house cleaner that I've wanted for years. Since h and I have been going through our rough patch right now, I try to pull every opportunity to stop and discuss our expectations etc. Last night, I stopped him and he was like "do we have to?" He said having the house cleaner has relieved a lot of his stress and he feels much better. I guess he doesn't realize I'm still mad at him .
This would be lovely if we had any money. Â
Maybe you should tell him. Â I think the source of a lot of our issues is that my H never says he's upset and let's it build up until it's a huge problem and then I'm like WTF just happened? Â I'm not so quiet when I'm upset. Â
Oh he knows I'm mad at him. I just meant that he didn't realize that I could still be mad at him even though HE feels better.

I'm finishing up my second full week of my kids not being sick. It's honestly a little weird. We have the snot sucker sitting in the bathroom and h picked it up and was like "where does this go?" And I had no idea bc we had been constantly using it for so long.
Gonna attemp to do some dishes today and then head out to 99 ranch. But the rain is deft making me hesitant about leaving the coop.
@jennuinne, 4&5 remind me of things your h may need to work on. Would it work if you sent him the article? That's how I usually get the point across to my h...I will be sending him this article now!
My mom had the day off today, so we went out to lunch and did some shopping. Boy was soooooooo good, which he never usually is. He slept the entire time in the stroller, which gave us free hands to eat, etc.
We had bjl's bday yesterday...I can't believe she's TWO!! We had my family over and it was just fantastic chaos. My intent was to do something "traditional" from my family, which we made the food exactly like my grandma used to do it, etc. My cousins actually thanked me because it was nostalgic, and all the kiddos playing reminded my cousins of us when we were young. It was the first time we had a family party like this since I was maybe 10yo. (My cousins all married non Chinese so for their kids bdays we all did hamburger/hotdog/pizza style parties).
We had about 8 kids 4 mos up to 3.5 yo, so it was crazy and crazy fun. I honestly have never seen bjl have so much fun and so happy. It was the best.
The bad part though was we've been sneaking dairy into bjl slowly with no reaction, so we decided to give it a go yesterday and let her eat frosting from her bday cake.........last night did not go well. She woke up crying, screaming about 7xs last night. So....guess we're not there yet. Most kids grow out of the intolerance 6-18mos, with 3 years still within the norm, so we'll just have to test it again later.
Anyways, there was my dear diary post. Have a good rest of your Monday and Tuesday too since it's so late in the day
Honestly, after bjl, things were fantastic--never been so in love, etc. The boy, however has really put a toll on us. We are sleeping fine, but we have zero downtime throughout the day bc the boy does NOT nap unless he is held and we are so exhausted. The house is trashed, we snap at each other..and I'm still gonna point my fingers and say it's his fault. He doesn't have as much patience as I do (dad vs mom thing), and I honestly can't trust him to respond to the baby the way I think he needs to, especially when he's exhausted. This makes me on baby duty 100%, and him on cleaning duty 100% and we are resenting each other for it.
Not really sure how long this lasts--but this is where we are at currently.
We both slide out of bed and sneak away to work like ninjas. Mil is here and waits for them to wake up, which is usually about 4 hours later when it was bjl. Dunno what it will be like with both. Mil brings the kids home, have breakfast, play, lunch, nap, then I pick up after nap.
No vday plans from me bc I'm lame and lazy. I'm trying to at least get laundry off the couch today, that'd be a treat for my hub, but the baby is literally sleeping with one eye open and hanging on to my shirt with one hand.
Hub made reservations for Elliott's oyster house a few weeks ago, not knowing I would be eliminating seafood for a few weeks to see if it helps boys eczema. Plan B tonight, but I dunno what that is. Hopefully not sex. (Ouch!)
Fwiw, we bought a house while pregnant (sorta). We shopped, made an offer, negotiated, had an inspection, then found out we were pregnant. So it was a terrifying time for me, esp since my company was talking about striking at the same time.
The hard part was moving, since I couldn't actually lift anything and h liked to do things at his (slow) pace.
I might be the voice of dissent, bc I think right now is a great time to buy a house. You pinch and struggle for a few years, but after that, you'll have equity to show for it.
Not to be the downer to this, but you didn't have to pay for child care, right? I think that makes a significant impact in finances, even if someone went with the cheapest (not free) daycare option.
Yes, I don't pay for childcare, but i still think that an investment on a house is important. House prices are increasing right now and so are interest rates..if you put off home buying too long, you are paying for the same thing or smaller at a higher cost.
Budget accordingly-especially since you are not already committed to a house.

Boy is 3.5 mos old. He has rolled tummy to back 5 or 6 times but I miss it every damn time. I asked him today if he did it on purpose and he laughed out loud at me. What a jerk . He has really bad eczema...I'm now on day 2 of eliminating seafood from my diet to see what's causing it, bc I think the big flare up started right around the time I pigged out on crab a few weeks ago.
Bjl turns two on Saturday (holy freaking mother of heck). We have no big plans, though. Family and a few friends over for traditional Chinese noodles. Noodles represent long and prosperous life.
I don't know our vday plans...it's something I make my h take care of!!!
