I lived on those sour key candies when I was pregnant the first time! Anything sour seemed to be magic. Also prenatal vitamins can make you feel sick, I always took mine at night - when I took them in the morning I always threw up.

I am on here posting for a bit while I drink my tea - I only have one daycare kiddo here so far so I am enjoying a few minutes to sit down before a busy day begins. He brought a box of donut holes from my favorite bakery. . . so thoughtful but now I will be fighting the desire to have some all day long. My goal is to not touch them, I don't need any "treats" today...but I want one so bad!
What are you doing this weekend? We are going to a barn raising (don't laugh! I live in hickville, ok!) on saturday and I have no idea what we are doing Sunday - we go to church in the morning.
Any decor or home projects on the go? I am still working on those bookshelves I posted - they do look a bit better I think!
Thanks girls! I actually have afew good stores for buying nice rods, it's just that this window is so huge that I need a massively long rod (thats what she said) so it's just pricey no matter what.

I don't like the pattern/color that much. On the site it looks like a pale baby blue with cream. In real life it's like a textured blue, almost like denim...chambray-ish. And the pattern is light brown.
Not what I was expecting at all so it threw me.
It actually matches my living room perfectly, better than the colors I thought it would be would have. I just don't know if I love them.
Opinions??? Keep in mind I have like 10% of the shopping options you guys do, and I've been looking for almost 18 months and this is the first ones that have been even contenders that I can afford. I am pretty sure I am keeping them but I am just not in love with them. I think they are a great choice but it's just that the picture in my head was so different than what I got - I feel like this isn't what I ordered! I think I like them, it's just not what I was expecting...
Curtains are on the left, the blue thing on the right is my throw blanket on the sofa. I am not married to the throw pillows - I am probably going to swap them for some that are cream with blue stripes.
Also, I hate how dark they are. I am not ready to paint them --- I am probably going to cave and paint them white in a few years but not ready yet. I was thinking about putting a new backer board on them - getting beadboard and painting it a color, or white?? I think white will look weird. Should I do the wall color, it's a soft grey? Or a watery blue or green???

I have two of these, with a tv stand in between. I took half the stuff off before I took the photo.... I need to keep breakable stuff OFF the bottom two shelves as much as possible for kids. The Coke crate was a new find, and the shotgun shell box was from DH's grandfather who passed away. It's hiding our DVDs.
Here are some things I have, along with books of course. I also have other stuff around the house I could steal like some blue mason jars, another glass cloche, a tiny blue iron bird, some random frames (all black though so they blend in with the back of the shelves and look dumb).
The pears are just random. The milk glass I love, the bust was from my mom. The blue seltzer bottle and harmonica are antiques that were passed down to me from DH's side of the family.
I have two of the glass hurricanes from PB I think. Old postal scale from our trip to the USA, random glass cloche I have no idea what to put under it.
The clock is just pretty, the glass float was found in some of DH's great grandfather's posessions and given to me, and the iron tower of piza was something my mom was getting rid of that I said I would take.
Like I said, I also have lots of books to work with - mostly paperbacks though but I like the look of books turned backward since these shelves are not my "bookshelves" they are just to look pretty. All my books I read and love are stored elsewhere, I just use books I won''t read again mostly anyway.
Any suggestions or ideas? And what to put into the white wire basket if you think I should use it? I have clam shells in a bowl in my dining room already, and I don't have any decorative balls or anything. I can make some I guess...was thinking about doing some with ripped up book pages around styrofoam balls??
I have tons of cool stuff that I love on my shelves, but I can not make it all look right. I want it to look styled, not like I just stuck a bunch of stuff up. And yes, I tried layering things, putting things on top of stacks of books, using the rule of 3s and making things in a triangle shape with different heights, all the tricks.
I don't know why I suck at styling bookshelves so much. I even try to copy photos of bookshelves I like, but mine don't turn out the same.
I will post pics in a bit of all the stuff I have...maybe you guys can direct me ?? What things to put together? I think I did this a few years ago with these same darn shelves...I can style a tabletop or a coffee table, decorate for the holidays, but I can't seem to get my shelves right.
Eek hooray! how was it having it taken out - I just had one put in and I was so freaked out but it wasn't too bad. Is getting it taken out any worse?
You will be fine - I promise. Just have fun, and don't take it too seriously. charting and temping takes a lot of the excitement and fun out of it, or at least it did for me. It has it's place definitely but there's nothing wrong with just "not preventing" for a while
DH is getting Emma's name tattooed on his back, under Brook's name. I am nervous to see it - I am not a big fan of tattooes but he loves them and I think it's sweet. Hopefully it turns out good.
I am thinking about how I need to clear out the dead stuff from my flowerbeds this afternoon but I really don't feel like it. I'm working on a mountain of laundry and tidied the house so it's not like I am being lazy My neighbors are raking their lawn and sweeping their sidewalk and it is making me feel guilty.
I have a food scale, actually. I need to dig that thing out. I have done it in the past, I just find weighing and measuring everything doesn't work long term for me - I am busy busy busy all day, I eat half the time standing up, or I eat two bites and have to abandon my meal and come back to it 2 hours later some days. I need to be able to grab and go, so unless I spend the night before pre-portioning my food I find it hard. And honestly I know I won't stick to preparing everything the night before long term.
But I think even doing it for a week or two would give me a better idea of what proper portions are, if I am underestimating how much I am eating.
I don't think I need to calm down...I am just annoyed.
yeah, I tried a cleanse my friend was pushing me to do. there were no products or anthing, it was just that stupid dr oz juicing one where you have smoothies made with veggies, fruit, almond butter, etc. basically all day long. She raved about how it gave her tons of energy and she started sleeping better at night and her skin looked amazing. She kept saying I HAVE to do it so I gave it a go.
I didn't do it to lose weight - it was just like a jump start into eating healthy and forcing myself to cut out sugar, etc. I didn't expect that any weight I lost would stay off...if you read my post about it I gave it a big eye roll. But I do feel better having done it and I notice that it's much easier to get up in the night with the baby and wake up in the morning this week. Whether that's from the cleanse or not I don't know but I wasn't doing some weird lemon water diet or anything.
I gained all the weight I lost from the cleanse back the next day, and then I gained another 2 pounds since then. Every day I get on the scale and it goes up another pound. I weigh in the morning, before I eat every day. I know daily weighing is not the most accurate it's just a bummer when I feel like I am FINALLY getting my shit together in the eating department and I see a gain every day.
I don't think I am eating too few calories. I am tracking at least a few days a week on MFP, and I am usually within or over my goal calories by 100 to 200. yesterday I was over by 250 or so. I don't weigh and measure my food but I try to eyeball portions and I always try to err on the side of recording that I ate larger portions than I did....if I am not sure if it was 3/4 of a cup or 1 cup, I say 1 cup.
For those of you who use MFP - is there a way to enter recipes? I make all our food from scratch so it's hard to calculate. I don't know how many calories are in a 1/2 cup of my homemade spaghetti sauce, and using their generic "Spaghettti sauce, homemade" entry is probably not completely accurate.
And I have been eating egg whites with cheese for breakfast, salad for lunch ( and homemade, not loaded with dressing or nuts or anything...literally a giant bowl of kale and veggies.) healthy snacks and small portions at supper.
I did give in and eat a couple of chocolate chip cookies last night but it's not like I binged on them.
And my pants are tight. And it's not that time of the month so it's not bloating. And I am drinking water, although probably not enough.

How about send out coupons once a month instead of every weeek, and have them actually be big enough to motivate me to shop at your store? 5% is not even getting me to browse around your site ---now %15 or %20, I would probably be a regular customer!
Not sure. I know in our town, at Christmas time when the whole town does their "Midnight Madness" shopping, they do 20% off all paint and you can pay for it and just have it on your account, so you can actually go and get the paint tinted and pick it up whenever you want - it's just a credit to your account. I usually buy a couple gallons then.
How are you doing?? I am finally back on the wagon - I did a cleanse over the weekend that a friend was raving about giving her tons of energy. Not only was it nasty, I lost 5 pounds and then gained them back this morning.
Whatever.
I am back to just eating healthy and watching portions.
Question for everyone - What do you find works best to avoid giving in when you are being tempted? Those moments where you just want to eat everything in the house, or binge on chocolate, or order that dessert. When you have no self control and all you can think about is "FOOOOOOOD"
I am finding that for me, praying and reading my bible helps a lot. It calms me down and gets me to focus on something besides food. And for me I know I usually get those sudden strong cravings because I am having a negative emotion like stress or sadness. Turning to God for my stress relief is a much better idea than turning to food.
Share what works for you! I also brush my teeth after supper and that helps stop the evening munchies because my mouth is all clean and minty.
Also, I tend to get out my bucket of white paint and paint everything in sight. I know the "all white" look is not your style, but it's mine! I get the bug every once in a while and I drag out the white paint and go to town on random stuff. Last house I re-painted all of our wainscotting and trim, all the doors. I painted the cabinets from oak stain to white, etc. This house needs the trim to be painted so bad but I am lazy...I have painted my coffee table white and a bunch of frames and random decor got spray painted white.
Do you have a lot of "Cut" flowers in your flowerbeds, that you can make bouquets out of??
I love it - but so far I have never really had it. At our first house I didn't really plant much. At our last house, I planted hydrangeas and peonies and a few other things that would make good cut flowers, and they really only gave me a few blooms each before we had to move.
We moved to a house with not a twig planted. No flowerbeds or anything. So I put in two big ones last year, and I re-planted more hydrangeas, peonies, daisies, and some things I don't even know what they are that I got cuts from my mom's garden beds. Last summer I only got a few measly blooms aside from the daisies but the daisies smell like cat piss so I didn;t bring them inside.
I planted a white lilac bush too - I am so hoping that this year I will get enough blooms to have fresh flowers throughout the summer inside my house. I am planting more things this year too - finally we are in a house where we will still be here to see the flower beds mature!
If you don't have flowers in your yard, do you buy flowers very often? I try not to because I feel like it's a waste of money - but the tulips in the spring time always suck me in and I buy them a couple of times. Also once or twice a year I will get a bouquet from Costco - I love hydrangeas and they usually have huge bouquets of them for under $10.
I was feeling that way too -everything is bla. Our lawn was turning green and then we got a blizzard and now have a foot of snow - depressing and makes everything grey and icky again.
I bought $9 worth of tulips at the grocery store and put them on my coffee table, and an orchid for my dining room. It has really perked up my mood, believe it or not!
But what you REALLY need is for me to come and visit you and spend a whole day playing around with decor and styling stuff together...that would be awesome
