Yea sears. Amazon on Canada doesn't really have much home stuff. I am pretty sold on those west elm ones. Just hoping navy is the way to go. I have a lot of that robins egg bluey green and I hope it doesn't clash. My end tables, throw blanket, and a big metal star are all that sea greener blue. I think it will be fine, if I go for more of a cottage beachy feel.
I replied 3 times and it keeps disappearing. Weird. I love the west elm ones so far! Emo, I can order from etsy or west elm or pottery barn or sears. Halfpricedrapes, country curtains. No jcpenney no target. And our Walmart doesn't carry the bhg line so all their stuff is ugly.
Hooray! I hope all goes smoothly and quickly for you dear! And get the drugs..haha. I had Brook naturally and I had some lovely IV drugs with Emma and I would highly recommend them
I think I want blue, I am thinking like navy or a jewel toned blue rather than a pastel - and definitely a pattern. My living room is bland and blah and I need some drapes with punch.
I am thinking something like these from Miss Mustard Seed..
Holy crap! Girl that is awesome! You should post before and after pics to inspire the rest of us! Any tips or advice? I think it's pretty normal to plateau, especially when you get closer to your goal weight. You should still be proud of yourself!
We have an old dresser we are repainting for my 3 year old's room.
DH convinced me to step away from the plain white and try something fun, since it's for a 3 year old. We're going to do a pink ombre look on the drawers like this...
I am not sure if I am going to like it, it's really not my normal style. MY preference would be to paint it my favorite white and distress it, and add some glass knobs. But DH says that is boring and I need to step away from the plain white once in a while.
Are you guys still doing check ins??? I have weight to lose dammit and I need some buddies!
I was doing so good - I lost all the baby weight within the first 2 weeks and then dropped another 5 pounds. My jeans are still tight and the last few days I have been adding in way too many treats. A big mug of hot chocolate with Baileys and ice cream on top, and then a neighbor brought a plate of cinnamon buns. Last night a friend came over and brought pumpkin bread piled high with icing. . . .
I gotta get back on track!
I've been drinking smoothies every day with a big handful of spinach in them and they are actually pretty good! My favorite is a frozen banana, a tbsp of peanut butter, almond milk and spinach with a glob of greek yogurt thrown in too for good measure.
I used to have a cleaning lady. I would always spend the night before tidying, not cleaning. She can't clean if every surface is cluttered....I get more of my money's worth when the house is ready for her. I always did all the laundry and cleared all the surfaces, meaning I cleaned up the toy disaster in DD's room, cleared off the coffee tables and did the dishes. then when she came in, she could dust and scrub and mop without wasting time moving piles of stuff or putting things away. I'd rather pay her to scrub my floor than put my daughter's toys away KWIM? And if she finished before her time was up, I got bonus things like her washing walls or cleaning my fridge shelves.
I'd probably get her a nicer version of something she registered for. If she registered for a cheap plastic strainer, I might get a nice stainless steel colander. If she registered for some $20 hot pink sheets, I'd grab a $50 pair of really nice sheets. Or just give her a gift card and say screw it.
ok now its terrible. Last diaper it looked like it was healing, now it has spread forward and she also has a cut in the crease of her skin.
the only thing we did different was use penaten. I gave her a baking soda bath and put vaseline on again. We are taking her to have it looked at first thing in the morning poor thing.
-apple slices dipped in peanut butter -tortillas spread with peanut butter and jam or nutella, rolled up and cut into spirals -tortillas filled with cheese and chicken and grilled -good old sandwiches -Cubed cheese, crackers, and slices of ham or sausage
I just started making spinach smoothies and DD loves them also! I did one today with mango, strawberry, banana, a bit of greek yogurt and milk and spinach. She slurped it up and she HATES veggies and mango.
I do trail mix - when I am running low on things like cereal, raisins, goldfish crackers, I dump them into a big container and shake it up.
Thanks you guys! It looks better now - not that shiny red anymore, it's still sore but the "shine" is gone.
I do use cloth, but she is still in sposies because she is so tiny -it'll be a few more weeks at least before we start the cloth up. I don't think it's the diapers because it's concentrated in one spot - if it was the diapers wouldn't it be a rash all over? And I've seen yeast before and this doesn't seem like it.
I will do a baking soda bath tonight and I have been letting her air out as long as I can between changes on the change table. We don't have triple paste around here but I threw out the cream that I am pretty sure burned her and I bought some penaten to try.
I was really impressed and I think I am going to subscribe. Hopefully this mag sticks around - seems like all the good ones die out and all the ones that have been around forever stay around, even though they are stale and not for the "everyman"
I picked one up a few weeks ago and I really liked it!
It's very practical, for every day normal people. No 5 million dollar homes with tassels and gold fringe on every thing, and I really like how they have a list of all the paint colors from the entire magazine at the back. Super smart!
Emma has a bad diaper rash. It's like the skin is raw - bright red and shiny.
A few nights ago I thought her bum looked a bit red, but i wasn't sure. So I slathered on some cream. Did it again in the middle of the night. In the morning, all around her bum was like this. I figured the cream must have been too strong, especially since I wasnt even sure if her bum was really red or not ---it was late and dark and I thought maybe it was a tad red...but it could have been fine. I was trying to be a good mom and prevent it by using some cream.
It's been 3 days and it is not getting any better at all. Changes are torture. I am using a wet washcloth and then putting on Vaseline as a barrrier because I am scared to put any sort of cream or ointment on her sensitive skin since I think that's what caused it.
If it was her reacting to her formula, would I have any other symptoms?? When she poops it gets worse it seems...if she goes a long stretch with no pooping it starts to look less red and then she poops and it's awful again. But she doesn't act gassy or fussy ever. She doesn't have tummy aches. She loves her formula and she doesn't get rashy or anything from it around her mouth. And her poop looks fine, it's not a strange color or pure water or anything, its just normal runnny baby poop.
Changing her makes my stomach sick. I feel awful. Any tips or advice? I just worry maybe it's her formula but I am pretty sure it's not. Should I switch brands anyway just in case? But that is also hard on their tummies too...
I am changing her often, using the washcloth and then letting her lay there and air dry. Then vaseline as a barrier.
I love my scented candles and scentsy, but if your air smells "bad" the best thing you can do is air it out and clean. Masking a smell is not fixing it.
With my older daughter, my milk never came in. I started nursing, then pumping and giving her formula because I never had more than maybe a teaspoon in me. We fought for 3 months and I was on all sorts of medication to bring milk in and it never worked.
This time, I told myself if my milk doesn't come in I am not going to kill myself trying to make something work that obviously doesn;t.
New baby is latching better and sucking way longer than my first dd, which is good. I am nursing her as often as I can stand it - every 2 hours on average. I am also on a prescription that is supposed to increase milk production. I am taking fenugreek and blessed thistle as well, which are for milk production too. I am also drinking a cup of nursing tea every morning and eating oatmeal every day. What else can I do? I definitely have colostrum but my milk has not come in.
I am so frustrated. She was born Monday night so its possible it will still come in right? She is hungry and roots around crying shortly after I finish nursing and attacks a pacifier. Would you give her a bit of formula or just wait for the milk to come in? i can see she is hungry...
We went in after 4 hours, because I was having contractions 4 minutes apart. They were barely painful so apparently were just braxton hicks...once I got hooked up to the monitors they stopped. We walked for an hour and then they sent us home to sleep. We are going back in about 3 hours to see the doctor - they will probably induce me since my water broke so long ago and nothing has happened on it's own. Booooooo. With DD, I was induced and it went super fast...this time not so much apparently. We are getting DD ready for the day and taking showers and then back we go again. Hopefully this time to stay. For anyone who prays - we'd appreciate prayers for a safe delivery with no complications and that I will be brave:) I'm skeeeered lol.
I don't know if I will actually get it done..I'm due in 11 days and I work until 2 days after my due date. Not a lot of energy to spare right now, but we'll see!
I know a lot of you guys roll your eyes at how overdone the whole country/shabby/vintage style seems to be online, but it truly is MY style and I love it! I think this piece is cool and I am making one with our last initial.
I am also thinking this would be a great project to pass the time for me...
And I love this bracelet - my MIL makes jewelry - like legit, has silver pounding hammers and has a workshop full of thousands of dollars of beads and crystals. I am going to ask her if she can make me something like this...not sure if she has the right guage of silve wire to make the bow though.
I am sure we will post the announcement on Facebook within a day of the baby being born. I have lots of friends and all my daycare clients who will want to know, but we can not call that many people. We'll call family and then do a facebook post for everyone else...you are welcome to share the info on here for me if you want Emo! Just no last name please!
I have been cutting way back on my internet time in general.
And, yeah, just taking a step back from the board for a bit. Been feeling like all I do here is complain about my life or criticize bloggers or home decor people....I would post away my entire lunch "break" and then look around my messy daycare and realize I didn't get any of my paperwork or cleaning done that I was supposed to, didn't even eat lunch, and instead I just gossiped online for an hour.
With a new baby coming soon, been trying to wake up earlier and spend more time being on top of things - keeping up on my paperwork end of the business and cleaning all the toys, etc.
I will still post, just need to cut back for various reasons!
