I've heard that if you have enough money you can just travel different cities looking to get in the transplant list. Therefore raising your chances to get in on one. Is that true? I don't want to be wrong about that.
If it is... Well there's a lot of us here. All over the place. Couldn't we do something to have like a network of places squirrely could come apply for the transplant list? Maybe provide lodging? Some others could chose to donate money for flights and stuff.
I work in transplant and yes, people who have been turned down do travel for second opinions. I worked in heart transplant for 3yrs. He probably has all of the necessary testing, I'm sure any facility would want to do some of their own but they could get a lot of information from his already existing testing.
I know squirrely is busy but I'd like to hear exactly why he was denied b/c it sounds like it's been from multiple centers, not just Denver? I wonder if he is a complicated medical case due to multiple co-morbidities? On the other hand I have seen the facility I work at throw all caution to the wind when it's a child involved, which is why this is pissing me off so bad for her:(
There are definitely legitimate reasons to not transplant someone, it can make things worse and ultimately end a life. I'd be more than happy to help in anyway that I can and have PMd her that before:) At the very least I could help her navigate our system to have the appropriate doctors look at his information.
I don't know what co-morbidities means, but she has mentioned that he is T1D and has a mood disorder.

This lung recipients daughter would happily put then up in Chicago. And I've given her the contact info for my moms focus in NY. Yes, there are reasons he is being turned down. But that doesn't mean you give up.
ETA: Also, the husband? Critical Care paramedic with peds experience. See? The Chicago gals got you covered :-)
Twin Cities here. I don't have room to host but I would do anything else to help that they need. Rides places, deliver meals, whatever. I am just devastated for them.
I'm near New York Presbyterian. Their current commercial campaign here is all about them taking on high risk and complicated cases that other hospitals won't accept. Maybe worth a shot?
Happy to host or help in whatever way I can in Dallas Texas. I also have a home in Telluride but not sure how helpful that would be considering that you're already in Colorado.

I'm moving to eastbumfuck and don't have a hospital that does transplants close by. But I'd be more than happy to donate money or anything else to help.
I'm outside DC. We are crammed into this house with DS and SDs this summer but if you come here I'll help any other way I can. I'm so sorry this is happening to you.
I sent you the info of a hospital I know of that is huge with heart stuff. I'm 3 hrs from the hospital so I can't help w/ place to stay etc but I know there are lots of ladies from so cal, so maybe someone closer could help.
I can't host (no space), but I do have lots of free time as a SAHM, so if you're in Denver at any point and need anything at all, I'd be more than happy to help.
I could also help with really long sentences apparently.
