Driver's education in the US is a joke. No wonder we have so many accidents. Look at some of the other countries with more driver training and look at their accident rates. It's staggering.
I'm not taking up for her. She did wrong and I don't agree with her remarks at all. It just seems like she pissed off an employee that saw dollar signs.
She's also not acknowledging that she did anything wrong.
This is my biggest issue. Apologize, say you were wrong and ignorant and you are sorry for anyone you hurt. End there. Instead she pulls the it was a long time ago and cast he first stone crap.
I don't get why holding a cell phone up to a ear while driving is not okay but holding a hamburger in one hand is.
Maybe because the cell phone conversation can distract you, whereas the burger will likely not (unless you drop it, because then that would be bad). LOL
Oh, and true story: when I was driving back from college (many moons ago...because I am old) there was a jerk on the road and he would not let me pass him, so I finally got up the nerve to speed up and get in front of him and it pissed him off. He drove faster, sped up next to me on the highway and threw his big mac at my car, I shit you not. When I got to NY there was ketchup on my window, hahaha.
We do a mix of music in my car. Some days the kids get to listen to my Disney music CDs or some kiddie music, most days they get what I love: The boss, Paul Simon, 80s etc..

People are animals. My step sister was driving and had a similar situation. As she passed the woman, she threw a frozen water bottle at my sister's car. Seriously?! Who does that?! Thankfully it just hit the door and not her window.

Omg. What an asshole. I cant believe he wasted his big Mac on you!! You made him so angry that he wasn't hungry anymore!

I just quickly looked up the US versus Ireland and it looks like in both countries the rate of fatality is dropping steadily each year which is awesome. Does this mean drivers are getting better though?!
In 2011 in Ireland there were 41 fatalities on the road per million of population. According to a graph I found on wikipedia, in the US it is a little over 10 per 100,00 so I guess that is 100 per million, over twice Irelands rate. I haven't compared any other countries.
My husband insists that having manual transmission cars makes people in general better drivers. In Ireland (and most of the rest of the world possibly?) the vast majority of cars are stickshift. Whereas in the US the vast majority are automatic. (including my own!)
There is often the argument that the US's amount of major highways is a reason for so much fatality/accidents but in Ireland in the last couple years a new highway has been built from dublin to cork with speeds of 120k per hour allowed (though most go quite a bit faster like on highways here). Yet, the Irish road fatalities for 2012 are at the lowest per one million of population in as long as has been recorded.
mh listens to rap/hip hop when in the car. I am always telling him to change the channel but you know when i am not around he plays it. Kel is going to be dropping f bombs by the time he is 2.
I love Miami Vices when on vacation I am not a mojito fan I drink most my cocktails with seltzer to limit the calories K listens to adult music
Hernandez is an idiot
I want a drink
Soon! You will be able to soon! Isn't today your due date? Come on baby Hayes!
maybe I should start a new poll to see when he will be here. I am not feeling much pressure or BH today so I am thinking tomorrow at the earliest. I was convinced he was comiing Tuesday night bc I had serious contractions for a good 3 hours but they went away and nothing since.
It would be nice if he arrived on a weekend so I can have visitors in the hospital but with the holiday I guess I would be happy anytime. July 1 sounds like a wonderful birthday. A ruby is nicer than a pearl. July 4th would be a great birthday but dangerous when he is older and drinks. July 5th would get hte most bang out of my maternity leave.
the highway terrifies me when driving, I assume travelling at 65mph means certain death in an accident. However my hubby informs me this isn't the case, the worst accidents are of course head on collisions or basically a collision where both parties are travelling in opposite directions (or one party is a stationary object I suppose)
so on a highway everyone is travelling in the same direction, and the division down the center ensures no drifting into the wrong lanes. Therefore in a collision, both parties would be travelling at the same or similar speeds in the same direction so it might actually be "not so bad". Or at least, isn't an automatic death situation.
This makes me feel better when driving on the highway with my precious cargo.
Also of course the US must have the best carseats in the world? Because we HAVE TO. Ha.
no way on the hamburger thing! I had no idea. I eat and drive all the time. i think that is a stretch of that law though. I see police eating and drinking (water, coffee, soda, etc) all the time.
I've never tasted a good Long Island iced tea. I drink them whenever I order them but I don't think it tastes good.
Long Islands aren't meant to taste good. They are meant to get you shit faced. That was my drink in college. Well that and a grateful dead, which is a long island but with chambord.

My new guess is tomorrow evening at 8pm, you will get admitted into the hospital. And i am upping the his birth weight a little too since he is still in there!

I am a pretty terrified driver too. Luckily I carpool with DH most days. On the days I have to pick Henry up from daycare by myself, I take a longer route, (about 5 min) to avoid the interstate. We only have to go on it for a short time, but you have to merge 4 times, I HATE it. So I avoid. I also hate driving at night, man I sould like DH's grandmother right now.

Well the WORST part of highway driving is getting on the highway. Oh man it gives me the cold sweats. I really don't like doing it at all.
