I just remembered I dreamed last night that I posted a picture of Henry on here and I got 63 likes on it. In my dream, I was like, oh, this is why I don't get many likes, I need to post pictures.
Now I feel a bit like a loser, dreaming of getting a bunch of likes.
I tried to post a couple of pictures yesterday, and got errors, and gave up.
Maybe because the cell phone conversation can distract you, whereas the burger will likely not (unless you drop it, because then that would be bad). LOL
Oh, and true story: when I was driving back from college (many moons ago...because I am old) there was a jerk on the road and he would not let me pass him, so I finally got up the nerve to speed up and get in front of him and it pissed him off. He drove faster, sped up next to me on the highway and threw his big mac at my car, I shit you not. When I got to NY there was ketchup on my window, hahaha.
Omg. What an asshole. I cant believe he wasted his big Mac on you!! You made him so angry that he wasn't hungry anymore!
no way! what food abuse! Just kidding. people are monsters. that is insanity.
i have no idea how to post pictures on here unless I waste 20 minutes, upload to tinypic get a code and paste it. you all seem to post pics in a nano second.
I have also never uploaded a video, ever. I have video ok K just sitting on the flip. We haven't even videoed him walking yet.
same here. Amazing race sure. I can see why people (romantics, etc) like teh Bachellorette franchise but I don't get big brother but I have only seen it one or 2 times.
Driver's education in the US is a joke. No wonder we have so many accidents. Look at some of the other countries with more driver training and look at their accident rates. It's staggering.
I just quickly looked up the US versus Ireland and it looks like in both countries the rate of fatality is dropping steadily each year which is awesome. Does this mean drivers are getting better though?!
In 2011 in Ireland there were 41 fatalities on the road per million of population. According to a graph I found on wikipedia, in the US it is a little over 10 per 100,00 so I guess that is 100 per million, over twice Irelands rate. I haven't compared any other countries.
My husband insists that having manual transmission cars makes people in general better drivers. In Ireland (and most of the rest of the world possibly?) the vast majority of cars are stickshift. Whereas in the US the vast majority are automatic. (including my own!)
There is often the argument that the US's amount of major highways is a reason for so much fatality/accidents but in Ireland in the last couple years a new highway has been built from dublin to cork with speeds of 120k per hour allowed (though most go quite a bit faster like on highways here). Yet, the Irish road fatalities for 2012 are at the lowest per one million of population in as long as has been recorded.
I could understand this as being true. With a manual you have to pay more attention to your car. You are less likely to be talking on the phone or doing something else, and as a byproduct are going to be paying more attention to the road.
Most of the MVAs H responds to are not on the highway.
I think the numbers droping in the US is probably more becasue of medical advancements and safer cars than people driving more safely.
The truth is that people in the US are just shitty drivers. We are not trained how to drive on different road conditions such as ice, snow and rain. We are not being trained to drive defensively. We are being distracted by food and putting on makeup, and cell phones in the car and the police are not pulling people over who are doing this. We have far too many people drinking and driving, still. And far to many cases of road rage leading to accidents.
I still cant believe that musiclover got a freaking Big Mac thrown at her by someone experiencing a heavy amount of road rage.
Holy crap, I just remembered something about that (this was like 12 years ago I think). So they had pulled up next to us at one point and DH (then just bf) noticed that they were piggishly eating some fast food, so he kinda mocked them as they were next to us . This is most likely why they felt the need to throw their burger at us. Too bad they did not ask if we wanted fries with that. lol. people be nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NEVER make fun of someone who can use food as a weapon. lol so its all your H's fault. I see it now.

I think countries in Europe have a lower Moyer vehicle death rate per capital because they drive less? Maybe I'm wrong but that is what I have always assumed.
I googled. The US has less road fatalities per vehicle than Ireland. We just have way more vehicles per person and drive way more.
I love Miami Vices when on vacation I am not a mojito fan I drink most my cocktails with seltzer to limit the calories K listens to adult music
Hernandez is an idiot
I want a drink
OMG, right??? I mean I don't mean to make light of the situation in any way, but aside from the idiotic "destroying your life and the lives of others" portion...has he NEVER seen an episode of CSI? I mean, the evidence against him is spectacular. Didn't they find his rental car keys in the pocket of the victim? I mean, come on.

Did you just see he is now linked to 2 more murders from July 2012?? What a idiot! Way to throw your life away.

Big brother is cultish in the UK. They have dedicated channels to you can watch them 24/7...you.can.watch.them.sleep. Mental issues right there.
You can do that here too. They have BB after dark and an online channel you can subscribe to watch the live feed. An old roommate of mine subscribes every year.

He is such a dumb criminal. Also, the news needs to move on. I am sick of this story already.

very interesting! It makes sense. I mean, I never drove a car until I moved to the US! ha.
Although I feel that the fatalities per person is a better statistic than per vehicle when trying to determine driving skill in a population or lack thereof?

I'd like to chime in that driver's ed is mucho expensive here and very comprehensive; I became a much safer driver after going through the German system.

Well @lindy was using per vehicle statistics which would still factor in population, but even more specific since most US homes have 2 cars (and 2 drivers!).

I mean, I assume most homes other places also have two drivers & two cars?
Still I am feeling that a per person statistic makes more sense? My next door neighbor has four vehicles, for two adults. I would say having more than one vehicle per person is more common in the US than other places? I feel like the per person statistic makes more sense but I agree there are a LOT of variables to consider.
However I really think people in Ireland seem to be better drivers than here. I've never driven there personally however. But there is so much crazy shit that goes on here. People are always pulling out in front of me when they REALLY don't have time so then I have to slam my brakes. People on the highway drifting in and out of lanes. Texting, fixing makeup and such. People not indicating they are turning?! wtf. I mean I don't think I am a great driver because I am nervous but at least I am attentive (due to excruciating fear. ha)
I just cannot FATHOM being on a highway and even being able to glance at my phone never mind send a text message but I assume that is my "new driver"ness and over time I'd become more confident (and more sucky?) as a driver.
Driving - I took driver's ed so I didn't have to take the road test. I still failed the written portion the first time though...oops. I do agree w/having to be tested more often because MOST people need a refresher!
Alcohol - I'm not a fan of frozen drinks because I think the ice takes up too much space in my tummy that the liquor could occupy! For anyone who likes Sangria, this White Peach Sangria recipe is AWESOME! My go to drink at home is cherry rum and diet coke. If we're out I like fancy pants martinis and mango/blueberry mojitos.
MY UO - I am NOT ready for a Christmas countdown people!

I feel pretty confident driving, but yeah I can not imagine being able to read something while driving. That's just crazy. I feel like a lot of the crazy driving stuff now is in tune with the general attitude of people today to have zero consideration for others and feel like they are the most important thing there is. It affects all parts of life and it kind of freaks me out what it might be like when A is older.
Maybe this is a UO, but I feel like this stems partially from the "everyone is a special snowflake" attitude put towards children. I feel like this can easily breed a "I am amazing, everyone get out of my way" mentality. Please note the use of the word "can". I am not saying everyone will come out this way, just that if you don't teach the balance of respecting others alongside it that it can. I think competition is healthy and I'm going to have a problem if A's future sports, classes, and school are of the "everyone is a winner and amazing" sort.

Booze: you mojito haters need to let me make one for you. I'll make it with cachaca, use less sugar, and strain out the mint.
Hernandez: LOL @ hasn't he seen CSI! I was so WTF at the coverage on ESPN yesterday. "We never saw it coming! Football players committing crimes? Wow!" Uh, I think I heard on another channel that almost 30 football players have been arrested (not all for murder of course) already this year. Michael Vick, OJ Simpson, Ray Lewis, the whole Cowboys team investigated for illegal activities...I could continue.
Driving: yeah, people drive like asses around here. Taxi drivers are the worst. They should be required to have those plug-in monitors the car insurance people advertise and turn them in to the cops once a month for review. They cause accidents here so often (we live right by the airport) that we are seriously talking about moving when E is old enough to ride a bike. I love my neighborhood, but the cabbies scare the crap out of me.
Paula Deen: this is not one incident from 25 years ago. This is a pattern of racism and sexism across many years, in multiple restaurants. For example:
--"Well, what I would really like is a bunch of little n***ers to wear long-sleeve white shirts, black shorts and black bow ties. You know, in the Shirley Temple days, they used to tap dance around. Now, that would be a true Southern wedding wouldn't it? But we can't do that because the media would be on me."
--"It's just men being men." (About allowing her brother to force his subordinate female employees to look at porn with him.)
--"I know that in the heat of the moment you can say things that would ordinarily not be said. The restaurant business is just so stressful, so stressful." (Excusing a manager of Lady & Sons for an incident in 2010 where he threatened to fire all the "monkeys" working in the kitchen.)
--"If you think I have worked this hard to lose everything because of a piece of pussy, you better think again." (Deen talking about a manager who was in trouble for sleeping with his subordinate employee.)
This is on top of all the controversy about her continuing to sell diabetes-inducing food even after she was a diabetic, and then hiding her diabetes until she got a lucrative sponsorship deal representing a diabetes drug.
If it was her saying the N word once in her whole life, it would be different. I am certainly the last person to say that saying one stupid or offensive thing should make you a pariah. That's not the case, though. This is example after example of her being a nasty person who cares about money, not people.

Also: Using a cell while driving: illegal. Passing in the right lane on the highway/interstate: illegal. Age to get license: 18. Average cost of driver's ed and tests: $2,000+.

Ive said this before but i agree. Nowadays, Cheerleading in my town EVERYONE gets trophies. Everyone. In my day you only got it if you placed in the top three.
I think everyones a winner is fine for little kids who don't really "get it" yet. But for older kids? no. Everyone is NOT a winner and you have to learn that. Otherwise how would you even truly know what you are good at?!
