Oh ya, plus my H is stingy as hell. He would pitch a fit if I bought everything I want.
Haha yeah. I bought a $10 new swimsuit from target and he was like we didn't really need that. I used to buy what I wanted when I worked because we made a lot more money but now that I don't I feel bad and try to buy all used.

I am so tempted to go to the J&J store at the mall near my mom's house, because the hot air balloon romper is 15.99 online, but I wouldn't want to pay for shipping...
I would rather buy used! Carbon footprint and whatnot!
I don't judge the clothes-buying, though, because we all have our consumerist area of life. Mine just isn't clothes. It annoys me if I think people are judging those of us who DO buy used, but that doesn't really happen on this board. We like to fight about other, more interesting stuff.
Not judging but consignment sales are hit and miss here and I don't want to spend time searching for stains. I HATE stains. HATE DESPISE LOATHE.
I can't believe your stores sell things with stains! I have bought probably 100 items used and none have had any stains except one bundle on eBay and the lady told me there was a stain on one item.
I didn't realize Carters didn't have good online sales! We have several stores nearby and they ALWAYS have some stuff on clearance. They are always having a sale too, they just had a 30% off clearance sale on all the summer stuff and I had to buy some more things, it was just so cheap! Also they had a $6 romper/shorts/t shirt sale not too long ago. I never pay full price there.
TrudyCampbell - No judgement here. You get to spend your money however you see fit. Fwiw, the only reason I have spent less is because I have a nephew that is almost exactly one year older than A so I get tons of hand me downs.
I'm still a few pages behind, but in response to the incredulous posts about low spenders and accessories, it can be done.
I've bought his shoes off Facebook co-ops for $5-9/pair, his sunhats have all been gifts, I crocheted his winter hats with scrap yarn, his winter jacket one piece things were mostly gifts (I bought one for under $10 at a TJ Maxx-type store), he has one pair of $2 sunglasses, and his one summer jacket (a zip up sweatshirt) was also a gift. So I've spent under $50 total on accessories.
I've had two Carter's/OKBG outlet trips that came to about $70 each, and I've probably spent $20-30 every other month on misc. pieces. I did spent ~$25 each on Christmas, Easter, and wedding outfits. So around $500 total.
ETA: if I had a girl or a boy who I knew wouldn't destroy everything, I'd probably spend more. I love bargain-hunting, though.

I wasn't incredulous, just amazed! I bet his hats are adorable, I wish I could crochet or knit!
- SIL buys nice stuff for A and has good taste. So I happily let her. - Stuff here is expensive and crap - If I buy online, I have to add at least another 50% to that cost to get it shippped here and to pay customs duties etc. And it takes at least an extra week from whatever the US shipping times are - Same weather all year round. A has one sweater that was a gift! He has no proper shoes, just sandals - His nanny does his washing 2 or 3 times a week so we don't need huge quantities of stuff. - I am trying to be good because I know when he is at nursery next year, I'll want him to look cute then! Kids here wear uniforms all through primary and high school so nursery is the only 2 years I'll ever get to dress him for 'school'!
But if I have a girl, I may go wilder....
Hope this isn't too creepy for you, but I'm happy to bring some stuff over there if you want. That way you don't have to worry about shipping.
I really don't know how much I have spent, but C has pretty much gotten a new wardrobe every season because the timing and L was bigger so I cannot reuse a lot of L's clothes.
My girls usually live in basics because it is easy and I don't care as much if something gets ruined. C goes through 3 outfits a day at home.
Oh and I save money because Calista is still not walking so she doesn't need shoes.

I voted $100-$500. It's hard to calculate. We got no hand me downs, but I am a penny pincher. I garage sale and craigslist. It's hard for me to even shop consignment sales or stores because it's too expensive. For instance, I think I spent $115 on a HUGE lot of 18-24 clothes from craigslist that was over 100 items. It included tons of shoes and winter coats that weren't my style so sold them and bought even more stuff with that money. I swap a lot so the only cost is shipping. Got her xmas outfit from gymbo nwt that way. All of her shoes but one pair have been NIB swapping. PJs or basics never seem to last long and I'll usually buy them from kohls when they're on sale plus have 30% off plus free shipping plus getting kohls cash back. Then I just spend that free $20 or so on more clothes. I just PERSONALLY have a hard time justifying paying $5 for a pair of shorts/pants when I can get them (often like new) from a garage sale for $.25-$.50. LOVE gymboree sales too.

Oh yes, and I feel like I spend the same or more on DS, but he has less. Used boy's clothes are MUCH harder for me to find. Plus, I'm pickier on what he wears.

I have definitely noticed this at the consignment stores in Portland. The girls' section is 2-3 times larger than the boys' section.
I didn't see any judging, and i don't think anyone is judging.
I do think its easier to spend less on boys. I think boys have less options. Boys clothes are freaking adorable, and i do love shopping for my boy but i feel like there is more selection when shopping for girls. Like there are tons of different styles of skirts vs. pants.
ETA:Random, but Lou needs a Fedora.
Here is one from A Children's Place. He was trying it on in the store. Attachment Deleted

Probably only about a couple hundred? He wears a lot of the same things, I shop at target and get shirts and shorts on clearance, get carters for half the price at Ross or Burlington. Pajamas or other carter stuff at Costco.
I hate consignment stores and sales. The stuff I've seen is so worn out. I may try it this time, but I don't like paying 3.50 plus for something worn out already.
biblionerd the people in my area on craigslist must thing their clothes are God's gift to the world because I rarely find good deals. I'm also soooooo picky! I can't buy lots of boy clothes because I hate characters and sayings. Maybe I need to tone down the caring.
I guess that's good ol' Indiana for you! A lot are CRAZY though. Like I was looking for maternity clothes since I refuse to spend $40 on a shirt, but I also refuse to spend $10 on a used maternity shirt! You can find a lot of used Carters, osh kosh, target, kohls, etc., but a LOT of people think that gymboree is absolute gold around here and sell it way too high. So it's usually not super fancy stuff, just basics. That one lot I found was awesome though! Had some cheapo stuff, but a lot of gymbo, baby gap, etc.
Due March 24! I get my first ultrasound on August 12. Happy birthday to me.
We're due 12 days apart and got a BFP the same day. That seems weird to me. Are you only 4+ weeks along, then? I'm supposedly 6 weeks tomorrow and due 3/12. I'm confused!

Ok, I thought I found out early. You don't play around and you didn't have to squint!
I've gotten most of G's clothes 2nd hand at yard sales/church rummage sales and Goodwill. Every 3-4 months if I feel the need to shop, I go to the local consignment shop and spent maybe $20, but I feel like their stuff is expensive, at least compared to yard sale prices. I've started filling in with Old Navy and Kohls sales for socks, leggings, and pajamas. I got lucky and found 6 pairs of barely worn shoes for $1/pair a few weeks ago, 5 of them are Stride Rites, so now I have sizes 4 through 7.5 covered. I also got 50 items of high-end brand clothing for $42 (including several Hanna pieces and 1 J&J). It's a fun challenge for me right now to find dresses that I love cheaply. We already have a 2T and a 3T winter coat but I'll probably have to buy her a hat this year.
