I don't really buy M clothes, we got a bunch of hand me downs and I'm not fussy about brands and such. I've spent maybe a hundred dollars at consignment sales and I bought her a halloween costume. I've also bought her some shoes and recently three swim suits so I'm estimating I've spent about $200 on clothing so far.
i'm assuming at some point I won't have boxes of clothes to pick from and will have to actually BUY all the clothes she needs. Wondering what the average "year of clothes" tends to cost people! I assume as they get older it's less $$ because you don't need as many clothes? Matilda goes through three outfits some days. She's a messy dirt bug. I shudder to think of what all these changes of clothes would be costing me if they weren't free. Or maybe I'd just have to do laundry more often, lol.
anyway spill it! Estimate how much money (obviously I don't assume you know EXACTLY) you have spent on LO for clothing so far.
I don't know a dollar amount, but usually at LEAST $200/season for Ethan. He has a dress code for school and needs weekend/play clothes as well. Plus he's growing so fast
I probably spend about $100 per season per other child too to fill in gaps in the hand me downs we have. So about $400/season? That includes shoes.

Under $500 for sure. I shop sales and clearance at Gap and Old Navy, and Target is good for basics. Every now and then I find some great pieces at the consignment store.

Probably about $200. I got a lot of hand me downs, but that train has slowed. I just buy a bunch of clothes at one time in the size he needs, mostly for daycare. I am cheap.
He has a few nicer outfits for church and weekends.
Now if this next baby is a girl, I imagine that amount will increase substancially.
I'm sure over $500, but I have bought a lot for next year already. We don't get any hand-me-downs. We get some outfits here and there for gifts, but the bulk is bought by me. As they get older clothing gets much more expensive and Jameson is destroying his clothing much more now, so I don't see as much being able to be passed down to another kid/sold as he becomes even more active.

I voted $500-$1k but I really have no idea between DH and I. I do only shop sales whereas DH doesn't. But then again, we got tons as gifts so maybe not that much? All I know is its nice to only have to do his laundry once every couple of weeks!
I'm guessing right around $500. We got a lot of hand me downs and gifts. I mostly shop clearance and consignment. I may have to invest a bit for this winter since I don't have much and he's going to need a coat/snowpants/boots this year.

We've been really lucky, like REALLY lucky. My 3 year old cousins are triplets (2 boys and 1 girl) and my uncle gave us everything. We lucked out because everything fits in the right season. I can honestly count on 1 hand the clothes I've bought for X.
laurack I'm in the same boat as you, I've probably spent under $200 and I fear for the end of hand-me-downs! When I do buy clothes it's from the thrift store - but at some point I'm sure he'll have an opinion about that. Hopefully that's far, far into the future.
We have no hand-me-downs and our parents don't really buy clothes for her. I probably spend $100-200/month on clothes for her. But it's about 80% BabyGap with the remainder being Zutano/Tea/J&J and now Boden. I love shopping and I no longer buy for myself really so I'm not spending much more than I used to on myself.
I'm not really sure. I didn't have any hand me downs because she was the first girl in either family. Her grandmothers have definitely bought some clothes, but I like to shop. I usually cut myself off around $400-500 per season. I know I spent more in the spring because I bought a few special outfits for pictures/ birthday. I probably spend too much on her clothes, but I hardly ever shop for myself anymore so that's how I justify it in my mind.
Between stuff I've bought new, and stuff his grandparents have bought new I'd guess between $700-1000. This includes shoes, swim stuff, hats, jackets, socks etc.
Eta like nicolelaroche I don't shop for myself much anymore, if I go to target or the mall I always come back with new outfits for him. Some things are a little more expensive but most of it is in the $5-10 range.
I get hand-me-downs and do a ton of garage-saling/consignment sales. I don't buy all that much from the stores because I think 'I can get this for a few dollars at a garage/consignment sale' If I do get stuff from stores, I'm definately not paying full price - clearance and sale racks.
I reserve the right to change my answer this afternoon. I'm planning on going shopping for Andrew after his nap. I'm only planning on going to H&M. They're stuff is pretty inexpensive anyway, and they're having a sizable sale right now. But, H&M is surrounded by other stores that aren't as cheap.
To date I've probably spent about $1,000. I went crazy his first year but he also grew like a weed so I kept buying more in bigger sizes. I do buy a lot of things ahead of time on clearance. We have quite a bit of 2T and 3T already. I would personally expect to spend $500/year ($125 a season). We got no hand me downs.
Then I start totaling and realize I'm probably really underestimating. I buy him a lot of smocked/customized things which are $30-$50 a pop. So, who knows.
I really have no idea but I have bought a lot and continue to buy a lot - we go no hand me downs, I didn't know anyone with a girl. I can't resist buying her clothes on a monthly basis, she has tons of clothes and shoes. For our vacation I bought 6 bathing suits. I have no idea if that is excessive but one per day sounded ok to me. The clothes are just so damn cute! And like nicolelaroche I spend my money on her and not myself for clothes. I work from home now so the need is much less for me.
We are between 500-1000. We barely received any clothes as gifts. We were very lucky that most shower gifts were items from the registry. We purchased 95% of his newborn to 12 month stuff.

Probably $50 a size/season but we normally get a bag of hand me downs, some outfits from grandmas and some of DS1's clothes (he was a fall, weird sized baby).
I spend closer to $100 size/season on DS1, mostly at consignment sales and OUAC and unfortunately the grandmas no longer like buying him clothes, they are not cute and cost more
We have been lucky to get a lot of gifts, she got a lot of clothes for Christmas and from her birthday from family. We have had a lot of hand me downs too. But I usually buy a couple outfits at a time and spend like $20 so I have no idea. I'm guessing less than 500.
Not very much. We didn't get any hand me downs, but we did get tons of clothing gifts when he was born, at Christmas, and again at his birthday. I've only bought a few things here and there to round it out, usually from the Carter's outlet or Old Navy sales.
