so people who are on state aid shouldn't have kids?
lol you love a good debate.

Though everyone else seems to be ignoring it which is surprising to me! I can't be the only person bothered by the insinuation that people on welfare shouldn't have the same reproductive rights as people not on welfare?!
Hmm. Perhaps I should take this to tomorrows UO...

Anyone else feel free to correct me, but I think what @huahualove meant was that if you are on assistance it's generally not best to be trying for more children.

If that is what was being insinuated (trying to give the benefit of the doubt here), then it really bothers me too. You're not alone in that.

Everyone should have the same reproductive rights! Of course! But I was recently told by someone after discussing how much my prenatal and L&D costs were that they needed to get KU with #2 before they have to get their own insurance because they didn't want to pay their own costs. No really, this was a real conversation that left my jaw on the floor. I think you'll find a crazy range of opinions on this. I think it's something most people don't want to touch though.

sorry. I didn't check back to this. What I meant is that it's cheaper in many states for parents to not have insurance for giving birth because of what the state pays (tax payers). I know it was that was in Kansas. Also though about people having kids when they cant afford them, let's face it, they cost a lot of money. Purposely doing anything that cost a lot more money than you have is never a good idea, having kids included. Gov aid is a great resource for people and families who fall on hard times but it shouldn't be used as a way to pay for more children that you want but cant afford or be permanent.

I honestly know several people like this. People a lot of times who think that way don't realize where that money is coming from.

I honestly didn't believe this happened but I obviously know different now. Aid is great, I was lucky and fortunate to qualify for CHIP when I was a teenager and without it I would have not gotten the basic care I needed - let alone when something more serious came up. Aid is a good thing but I think it's alarming how many people have no intentions of trying to get off of it or using it in a way that takes advantage of it.
