What's with this long john nonsense? Out west we call those bar donuts, so that would be a filled chocolate bar (which incidentally I have never seen out here).
I have literally never heard the term Long John used to describe a doughnut. I would have called the doughnut pictured "chocolate cream filled." I think the votes for eclair are from folks like me who are like "long what now?"

But I'm in the west and not only do we have those, but we also have Donut Hole Cakes...same thing, but a giant cake-sized donut cut in half and filled with crème filling, then topped with chocolate and frosting and sometimes they'll write "Congradulations!" when you ask for one for a baptism b/c we're klassy like that out here.

OMG, how have giant donut cakes been absent from my life for 31 years?
ETA: This thread represents why I will never be skinny. Thanks a lot, CEP.
In my neck of the woods, that's a Bismark (Bismarck?), but since it wasn't an option, I chose filled long john--I think that's what they were called when I lived in Nebraska.
I lived in Omaha and St. Louis during high school and in one of those cities--can't remember which now--maple bars did not exist. Those were dark, dark days.

at the board GTG, i see miles and miles of long john donuts
Pudding/custard are the best. I once went to Krispy Kreme to get a bismark and they gave me some bullshit doughnut with frosting in it. FROSTING. IN THE DOUGHNUT.
MH calls me an old southern lady because I LOVE lemon anything. Golden lemon oreos? DIVINE.
The fuck is this? Do they really exist? Aren't those a form of girl scout cookie - the lemon cremes?
Lord, they have these cookies here that are lemon sandwich cookies. In addition to lemon cookies with lemon creme in the middle, the top has a hole in it that's filled with lemon jelly, I guess you can call it. Gumdrop consistency complete with sprinkle sugar but thin.

Must have been St. Louis b/c I've never seen one But we have gooey butter cake so maybe it all evens out in the end.

I can eat a whole box.
I need these. IN MY MOUTH.
I usually see them as CVS, Walgreens, and dollar stores.

That sounds nasty.

SHUT YOUR MOUTH.
Dunkin Donuts makes the Vanilla Kreme... it's dusted with powdered sugar and filled with frosting and will give you the diabeetus if you have more than two a quarter
but whenever I'm anywhere where there are DD's, it's #1 ON MY LIST.
