That would be a Long Chocolate Covered Cream Filled Donut. I've never heard of a long john before (donut related, that is).
I'm from Massachusetts (413 Represent!) but would always prefer a fresh cider donut than any of that stuff from D&D's. Maybe it's my advanced age but the D&D stuff requires a pepcid prophylactic at least 30 minutes prior to ingesting.
I have literally never heard the term Long John used to describe a doughnut. I would have called the doughnut pictured "chocolate cream filled." I think the votes for eclair are from folks like me who are like "long what now?"
Yep. That's where I sit. Long johns are underwear. A filled long john is probably out of a porn. So process of elimination led me to eclair, even though I thought it looked like a really poorly done eclair. Some of us haven't seen a DD in over a decade, OK? (I'm not counting the DD in Korea.)
If I am near a DD, I get a french crueller. It's probably the least sweet thing they have hence it's my favorite.
This thread would have made me get malasadas today, but the bakery closes at 2.
This thread is cracking me up! I call it a filled donut. Never heard of a long john. It is definitely not an eclair. My DH looked at the pic and called it a "Bismark".

413? Fuckitall. That means you can go to Atkin's for cider doughnuts. Best. Doughnuts. In. The. World.

Pretty sure you can get a long john, donut version, at Zippy's
DH (from St. Louis) has heard of Long Johns, but not Maple Bars. Thus confirming several points of this thread, and also giving us a rare moment of not knowing something about the other after all these years. Thanks GBCN.

Are they being intentionally funny with that name?
This thread made me buy donuts yesterday. King Soopers calls those things Long Johns. We call them "those big donuts with the filling" or "the ones Daddy likes".

I have heard of both, but I think that's from traveling/living in different places. Plus, I have never really seen a maple long john in Texas. They are frosted with chocolate while a maple bar has maple of course!
Also, Golden Tate was busted for breaking into Top Pot for a maple bar. All football fans should know this! LOL.

Yep! Grew up in Hampden. Am now in Long Island. Went to Atkins last fall. Nothing compares!
