"Not gonna lie; I kind of keep expecting you to post one day that you threw down on someone who clearly had no idea that today was NOT THEIR DAY." ~dontcallmeshirley
I said upthread that it takes me a couple of months to recover, but it's worth it.
Yeah, I don't usually have much of a sweet tooth, but the super sweet whipped/frosting filled ones really hit the spot sometimes. If you're going to go for it, go all the way.
Regular cream is fine too, though, if that's what you've got.

This thread is just making me angry about my sub-par paczki this morning that was really just a bad stale doughnut. I would totally go out and get a different doughnut to make up for it, but there really isn't anything worthwhile around here until Thursday. Fuck.
I have literally never heard the term Long John used to describe a doughnut. I would have called the doughnut pictured "chocolate cream filled." I think the votes for eclair are from folks like me who are like "long what now?"
But I'm in the west and not only do we have those, but we also have Donut Hole Cakes...same thing, but a giant cake-sized donut cut in half and filled with crème filling, then topped with chocolate and frosting and sometimes they'll write "Congradulations!" when you ask for one for a baptism b/c we're klassy like that out here.
Good idea...pumpkin flavoring would really class this cake up!
Dunkin Donuts makes the Vanilla Kreme... it's dusted with powdered sugar and filled with frosting and will give you the diabeetus if you have more than two a quarter
but whenever I'm anywhere where there are DD's, it's #1 ON MY LIST.
I had forgotten these things existed. I have always had a love hate relationship with them, because on the one hand, FROSTING!, and on the other, um that's a lot of fucking frosting and I'm going to need to lay down with the sugar sweats while berating myself for my bad choices, then I am going to be starving about 8 minutes later, when I reach for the honey glazed.
I miss the little mom and pop shops I grew up with. Or at least some friggjn' Shipley's!

While I love dunkin donuts (I am a slut for donuts), I weep for the lack of family owned donut shops/bakeries around here. My favorite donut is from a locally owned place in my hometown and I've never been able to find anything like it anywhere else. My mom buys them for me when we visit though. God they are so good.

I also don't like Dunkin Donuts. I mean, I don't turn down donuts because they are donuts, hello!, but I did not get the Massachusetts gene that makes me want to hump them.
I'd choose Krispy Kreme over them any day. And the donuts from the fried chicken and donut place in town, amiright meshaliuknits?

I'm never calling a donut a long john.
Mmmm fried chicken and donuts. Sounds like a good dinner.

MH calls me an old southern lady because I LOVE lemon anything. Golden lemon oreos? DIVINE.
The fuck is this? Do they really exist? Aren't those a form of girl scout cookie - the lemon cremes?
Lemon Oreos--best non chocolate oreo! They are almost a dup for the old Lemon Chalet Creme GS Cookies and they are way better than the nasty Savannah Smiles and Lemonades that the GS are currently offering.
Our local donut place makes a donut cake...my birthday is on monday and I am so tempted to go order one
