To this day, I have no idea when my water broke with A. It didn't break before hospital, and I can't recall it breaking at hospital. No one mentioned breaking it. And A wasn't born with it! It's all a big mystery to me.
This is interesting!
Mine was broken for me at the hospital when I was already 10cm and pushing.

Mine didn't but my BFF's did! Her little girl came 20 days before her due date ( which coincidentally was the day Luke was born a year later).
She woke up in the middle of the night because she felt wet and thought she needed to use the bathroom. Stood up and there was a gush. Off to the hospital they went. She had been having strong intermittent contractions all day the day before.

I remember hearing it. It sounded like a "snap". But it didn't feel like anything. Doc told me I needed to go to L&D because my contrax would start in an hour. They started an hour to the minute.
They broke mine at 8cm with Adeline and I remember the warm gush under me, but that's all. I already had the epi.

Mine broke in the hospital bed when they were talking about sending me home even though I was in labor and I was about to sob. I was all, "Umm... something is happening..." It was the weirdest feeling.
I was in the hospital for my induction and I felt a pop and another pop and then OWWWW! I had H get the nurse, she said I was not the same person she had seen 15 minutes prior, hahaha However, she checked me and said no, my water had not broken. BUT when I went pee, GUUUUUUUUUSSSHHHHHHH. I am so, so glad I was in the bathroom because TMI WARNING(wait isn't that implied by the thread name?) my water was full of blood. Never did know exactly why, just speculation, they ran some b/w and it was all fine. It would have been a holy mess anywhere else.
ETA: The OW was my contractions going from annoying to *&%$ in 0.3 seconds.
I had mine broken both times. I was uncomfortable and it was a really weird sensation but not painful. The contractions after it was broken were, though! With Theo, they told me it wouldn't have broken on its own. I was at 6cm when my midwife did it and I delivered an hour later.
I felt as fine that day as anybody does at 39+. I bent over to pick up the pen I dropped on the floor and felt the pop. I thought it was my hip popping but when I sat up I felt the gush and knew it was my water. It continued to gush in spurts as I went to the bathroom, drove myself home, took a shower, and then went to the hospital. My contractions didn't start until after I got to the hospital and had been walking for at least an hour, so several hours after it originally broke.
It was a lot of fluids. I weighed myself at the hospital and was already down about 15 lbs.
My water broke at 37 weeks 1 day. No warning of labor at all. I had gotten up at about 4 am to pee and I laid back down in bed. About 30 seconds later I could feel it break, I could feel all this fluid coming out. It felt different than peeing. The bed was totally soaked.
I immediately woke up my husband and told him and he was like you probably predict yourself. No pretty sure it was my water! I got dressed and it kept leaking. I put on a pad and sat on a towel in the car but my pants were totally soaked when we got to the hospital. At first they were like oh we'll test to see if it was really your water breaking but when they saw the puddle when I got out of the wheelchair they were like uh never mind!
I never had a single contraction! They did my c- section right away because she was still breech. Water broke at 4am H was born at 8am!

I had what I thought was a "slow leak" which they didn't detect in triage so they sent me home, a few house later (at 5am) I woke up to a pop, stood up and it was gushing.
It was so embarrassing going into the hospital with a bath towel shoved down my pants.
My water broke Niagara Falls style both times out of the blue. With H, I stood up at a meeting at work and boom. With C, I was lying down in bed and boom. The amount of fluid was CRAZY! Like gallons of water.

It was my due date, and I just felt really off. I had contractions randomly, but I'd been having random real contractions for two days. I felt some pressure and went to the bathroom. When I sat down I heard a loud pop and felt what I initially thought was a really strong kick. Then the gush came, and it didn't stop! I grabbed a towel and waddled upstairs to get MH and off to L&D we went! It was a really weird feeling!
I woke up at 3am to pee, noticed a teensy bit of dampness (gross) but thought it was just normal disgusting 39w pregnancy grossness. Called the doc just in case - I was GBS+. Went in at 3 that afternoon, very annoyed as I only had a tiny bit of moisture that I attributed to being very pregnant. I was not having noticeable contractions and did not feel off in any way. Internal->super slow leak in my water->go next door and check in to the hospital since it had been at least 12 hours and they wanted me on antibiotics. I had pitocin at 5 since I wasn't really having contractions and they were worried about the GBS thing. That changed very quickly, I was still able to labor med free and I had a baby at 10:02

who cleaned it up when you were at work?
i was always scared it'd break somewhere that someone else had to clean it up. i decided the best place would be petsmart because they have those clean up stations for dogs.

Around 3:30 in the afternoon I went to pee, when I stood up there was a small gush, I honestly didn't know if it was my water or if I peed a little as I could always pee a little no matter the last time I had gone. I put a pad in and went to lay down because my back was bothering me. After a few more small gushes I mentioned to my husband around 5 that I thought my water was slowly leaking. I had my first contraction around 6:30 and continued to leak with each one for hours and hours after.

Mine was also middle of the night to pee - 12:45 to be exact. I had no indication I was going into labor the day prior or anything, it was the morning of my due date. I didn't hear anything, it was just like instant wetness that kept spreading. I was in no doubt because there was no controlling it like pee. The grossest thing was no matter what you do it just kept coming, leaking all the way to the hospital and all through labor. Gross.
I also had zero contractions and needed pitocin finally. I ended up with a c-section and I'll never forgot when they turned off the pitocin machine all the lines went flat...and 19 hours after my water broke I STILL wasn't having a single contraction!
Mine broke at night. I was 38 weeks 5 days and it was Good Friday. I was supposed to return to work from Spring Break that following Monday and did not want to go back! So, we had sex Thursday night. I woke up around 2 a.m. on Friday morning, feeling like I had to go to the bathroom. I stood up and felt wet underwear but thought it was my husband's semen (sorry for TMI). I went to the bathroom to clean up and it kept coming. I never had a gush but figured it had to be my water because it didn't stop leaking, either.

Mine was broken during my induction to speed things along. I remember the feeling so well. So weird.
They told me that I would probably get to 10cm in 6-7 hours after that (it was around midnight). 3 hours later I was screaming "there's pressure and I feel like I have to poop! Get the doctor!" They didn't believe I was ready to push until I mentioned having to poop, lol. Then they were like "wait! Did you say you feel like you have to poop??"

Mine broke at the hospital. They tried to break it for me when I was like 2-3cm to get things going but they couldn't get break it for some reason? It broke on it's own like an hour later. I didn't feel a pop just wet gush- gross! I want it to break dramatically too!

Lol, it's the truth! My OB literally said to me "Push her out like you would push a poop! Push from your butt! Forget you even have a vagina!"

Yes! I couldn't get the hang of pushing until I realized how excited they were that I was pooping. I was like "oh I know how to poop. Why didn't anyone tell me that?"
