My point isn't the direct quote, but the evidence in the tax filings that they've stopped donating to such groups. Minus one - I'm sure that someone around here knows which group that is.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes
And my point is, I don't understand how you can just sweep years of funding and millions of dollars of hate under the rug because they have delicious lemonade. We're not talking about one year and a few thousand dollars. Nor have the leopards changed their spots. They're just better at hiding them now. Or are donating to them privately.
And maybe they aren't. You don't know for certain. There are some assumptions that they're ok with killing gay folks - and maybe they aren't. I could keep on hating Ms. Jane's entire family because Ms. Jane doesn't like black folks, but her relatives don't. Which speaks to the point that iammalcolmx and others bring up when they mention the franchise owners they know and want to see do well.
And that's the point here - have they done what others think they can live with - that answer is yes. So, there ya go.
This did not end well on ML for the person that admitted to still going there...
Welp. It might not end well for me either because I go there because the salads are much better than that shit they try to pass off as a salad at Wendy's and McDonalds. Wendy's screwed up a perfectly good Strawberry Fields salad by putting bacon on it. Just nasty.
I just tried two salads last week and they were sad, too small, not good, and overpriced. $2 more and I could have had the giant salad from panera with the fancy lemon and oil dressing. I would rather pay $10 at panera than $8+ at chickfila... And def $6 at McDonald over that

That isn't my point at all. My point is that there are either enough people who agree or people who just don't care enough to boycott that their business didn't decline. It wasn't a personal declaration from me either way.
I know, my statement wasn't to you. More to the prevailing opinion about them.
Who knew that lemonade and nice salads could make people sponsor hate agendas? The KKK could learn a few things from them, although I hear their pie is good.
Yes. The GAP has a long history or human labor violations. They keep saying they're going to clean up their act, and then they're busted for something else.
hm. I can say with 100% certainty I did not know this about these stores. I have not been attentive to the garment industry. But I have created an army of anti-blood diamond young adults, lol.
So wait, is it about what the company believes (since we're all "companies are people" now) or is it about what their dollars go to actively support? If the company no longer gives money to these organizations and thus your money isn't going towards them, does it matter what the people who run the company personally believe?
Is it about punishing people for having anti-gay beliefs? Or is it about not wanting your money to go towards those groups?
The hell kind of twisty logic is this?
People are punishing Hobby Lobby for having Christian beliefs, so that's part of it sure. I'm PERFECTLY FINE for punishing a corporation who has funded such nice little niceties as orgs who want to reform gays, whatever that entails. You know why? Because it's hate. Pure and simple.
I also don't want my money to go towards those groups.

But all their money is going back to Ms. Jane, if we continue to use your example. So by proxy, you're supporting Ms. Jane.
OK. So the guy who founded Chick-Fil-A has a charitable foundation, which the company contributes to, and the foundation used to give money to another organization whose president once in 2001 gave a speech to a white supremacist group. I'm not defending any of it, but I think that's a pretty big leap from "Chick Fil A is affiliated with the KKK."

Well, I am very emotional and headstrong about the issue, so the open anti-gay beliefs were enough for me.

The final straw for me was way back in 2007 when they were busted for having Indian children embroider their tops. The children had been sold by their families to the factory. (Yes, I can hold a grudge for a long-ass time.)

I'm not going to tell them they can't use my dollar to make sure Ms. Jane's raggedy ass doesn't get bedsores either tho. Ms. Jane's evil ass deserves not to have bedsores.

Okay. Well then don't pretend that someone who buys a chicken salad is funding hate groups when they're not. Just be clear that you don't eat at Chick-Fil-A because you disagree with the owners' beliefs and the organizations that the company used to indirectly donate to, and that you think other people should do the same. Don't be accusing people of "funding hate."
Where are these places that I *can* shop where nobody profiting from the company holds any objectionable beliefs or donates to any hateful organization?
hm. I can say with 100% certainty I did not know this about these stores. I have not been attentive to the garment industry. But I have created an army of anti-blood diamond young adults, lol.

There's more, ttt, if you bother to research. He also purchased the mailing list of the kkk and has stronger ties to the group. I threw up the first thing I found. At some point I just get tired of throwing up all the information like this is a BRAND NEW thought, and y'all are brand new to this argument. We've been having the same discussion since 2012 when the story broke. So really my question is, where the hell have you been?

With all due respect, then half of the companies in this country, and well this country would fall under the same principle. We had slaves once, well, better move to a different country.
But they haven't owned slaves, nor actively supported the idea of slaves, within the last 5 years.
I'm wishy-washy on CFA. I think part of its appeal is that it was uncommon around here for a while. Now I have one right by my house so I'm kind of over it. I think it's good but not amazing so I dont get the obsession people have with it.
anyway. Not just CFA related. But if a company DID donate to hate organizations and then stopped doing so, for whatever reason, is that company just doomed for eternity? I mean, we let people rehabilitate themselves, why not corporations if they are people too? (that was really for asdfjkl and ESF). If the KKK suddenly said you know what, we're sorry, I wouldnt start buying their pies because I mean, they're still the KKK. but their mission is hate. CFA's mission is chicken. But if CFA were donating to KKK, and then stopped, I'd still say "no" to CFA because I mean, again, KKK. How could they not know they were, well, KKK.
I'm not defending CFA here really by any means. I just wonder to what extent we allow a company to reform and change its donations. I dont know if I will ever shop at hobby lobby, even if they start donating all their profits to GLAAD. So I'm not sure where I stand here.
So wait, is it about what the company believes (since we're all "companies are people" now) or is it about what their dollars go to actively support? I'm following you. Since it's seems as if they aren't donating to said heinous groups, I can be ok with it. But, I can't change how they (Catheys) view marriage. And they aren't alone. There are a lot of people who aren't open yet. But, that's just the Catheys. I can't say that for the person who operates the local CFA and doesn't have those views. The local CFA owner/operator could be a completely different leopard with rainbow spots.

Ms. Jane had over $2 billion in profit last year. I think she isn't suffering from bedsores.
Where are these places that I *can* shop where nobody profiting from the company holds any objectionable beliefs or donates to any hateful organization?
you know, a couple years ago-- right after I learned about blood diamonds-- I started having very intrusive thoughts / feelings of guilt about products. I told my husband that I was going off the grid and getting rid of my cell phone and iPad because I got so upset about conflict minerals being used in them. He had a come to Jesus talk with me at that point. I actually talked to a professional about it because my feelings were so pervasive.
Where are these places that I *can* shop where nobody profiting from the company holds any objectionable beliefs or donates to any hateful organization?
Chile, I just know if can't be AT or LOFT because I'd look a hot ass mess daily. And I can't look a hot ass mess daily.

I read the entire link. He purchased (back in 1996) the mailing list of someone who used to belong to the KKK. He also doesn't work for Chick Fil A and as far as I know, isn't actually affiliated with Chick Fil A beyond being the president of an organization that used to receive donations from a foundation associated with Chick Fil A.
I'm not telling you to eat at CFA. But to act like buying a salad at CFA is directly funding the execution of gay people is ridiculous.

Ms. Jane could be senile and have a nurse stealing her monies and the relatives find out that her ass is covered in bedsores.

So a portion of every dollar spent wasn't going to their charitable giving? Tell me more.
