There's more, ttt, if you bother to research. He also purchased the mailing list of the kkk and has stronger ties to the group. I threw up the first thing I found. At some point I just get tired of throwing up all the information like this is a BRAND NEW thought, and y'all are brand new to this argument. We've been having the same discussion since 2012 when the story broke. So really my question is, where the hell have you been?
I read the entire link. He purchased (back in 1996) the mailing list of someone who used to belong to the KKK. He also doesn't work for Chick Fil A and as far as I know, isn't actually affiliated with Chick Fil A beyond being the president of an organization that used to receive donations from a foundation associated with Chick Fil A.
I'm not telling you to eat at CFA. But to act like buying a salad at CFA is directly funding the execution of gay people is ridiculous.
I'd have to eat a lot of salads tho. I'm only in there maybe twice a month. I usually eat at Panera.
If it was all just no big deal I don't think Mayor Menino in Boston would have said no fucking way are you coming into our city.
You don't think a mayor would capitalize upon a politically popular issue with his constituents?
Nope. For one thing he was / is dying of cancer and he had announced long before that that he was not running again. And there are plenty of people in Boston who would be totally fine w/ anti-gay businesses.

So a portion of every dollar spent wasn't going to their charitable giving? Tell me more.
People are punishing Hobby Lobby for having Christian beliefs, so that's part of it sure. I'm PERFECTLY FINE for punishing a corporation who has funded such nice little niceties as orgs who want to reform gays, whatever that entails. You know why? Because it's hate. Pure and simple.
I also don't want my money to go towards those groups.
Okay. Well then don't pretend that someone who buys a chicken salad is funding hate groups when they're not. Just be clear that you don't eat at Chick-Fil-A because you disagree with the owners' beliefs and the organizations that the company used to indirectly donate to, and that you think other people should do the same. Don't be accusing people of "funding hate."
Chikfila donated millions of dollars, yearly, directly to multiple groups. There was nothing indirect about it (until 2011, when chikfila became more covert in their donations but even then they donated more money to some of these groups).
hm. I can say with 100% certainty I did not know this about these stores. I have not been attentive to the garment industry. But I have created an army of anti-blood diamond young adults, lol.
The final straw for me was way back in 2007 when they were busted for having Indian children embroider their tops. The children had been sold by their families to the factory. (Yes, I can hold a grudge for a long-ass time.)
So a portion of every dollar spent wasn't going to their charitable giving? Tell me more.
I am talking about right now. July of 2014.
We don't know what they are doing right now. We know 2010 and 2011 they donated over 2 million each year to these groups. 2012 they donated like 25k to the christian athletes foundation. We don't know what they did in 2013 or what they are doing in 2014.
What's wrong with Christian Athletes? Because, locally we have an Athletic Ministry that works in close conjunction with our inner city youth. Is being Christian alone nefarious?

I'll sit next to NitaX . If CFA really has stopped donating to those groups (which seems questionable?), I don't have a huge problem with people stopping their boycotts. What incentive does a company have to change their ways if people will continue boycotting them anyway?
Where are these places that I *can* shop where nobody profiting from the company holds any objectionable beliefs or donates to any hateful organization?
Chile, I just know if can't be AT or LOFT because I'd look a hot ass mess daily. And I can't look a hot ass mess daily.
Yeah! Who cares about the child who earns 25 cents an hour to stitch those clothes together? As long as you don't look like a hot ass mess.
Damn. I know that it's difficult to go out of your way and avoid sweatshop labor. But I just don't get the "I don't care as long as it's easier for ME" response.

Look here. Lemma get you straight real quick. I need professional clothes. I can't walk up in my office look like some shit scraped off the bottom of a shoe. AT and LOFT fit me well. Now, unless you are going to buy my clothes - Imma need you to SAT DOWN.
Come at me again and I don't deal with you on the regular. I'm cool with Pixy. I'm not cool with your ass. Understand?
If things slow down, I could always bring up how many people know that SUVs pose a danger to pedestrians and cyclists and drivers of smaller cars and just don't care because dogs or something.

They're anti-gay like the boy scouts.
Ok. Got it. Because their Vision Page is similar to some local groups I know of.

But, you know, only if this thing fizzles out.
Shit. I'm so conflicted on this now since I have a cross over. I have become the enemy.

I honestly think it's kind of cool that Dan Cathy learned some things.
That said, FCA is still a pretty problematic organization, IMO, because it targets youth. One of their national directors lauded deliverance from homosexuality, and their website had this whole feature story of a coach who prayed the gay away. Kids and young adults seem the most vulnerable to such dangerous ideology. The FCA athletes also have to sign a sexual purity pledge. This club is just one way of backdooring Christianity into public schools.
eta: I just saw NitaX was asking about what's wrong with the FCA. Hopefully this explains.

Well, David Duke's position in the KKK isn't "used to belong to." He was the grand poo-bah of the KKK and also founded a new state branch to spread the organization. He founded Stormfront, which is THE white supremacist online hub. In fact, he himself is a huge white supremacist presence worldwide.

Are you kidding me? No one is coming at you.
I don't really care if you're cool with my ass or not. This is a discussion about corporate ethics, and that's all I'm talking about.

Paraphrasing my statement and putting it in sarcasm is what I read as coming at me.
You want to talk corporate ethics do so, but when you quote me and throw in sarcasm I'm entitled to respond in a similar manner.
