Of course, it's all within reason... their website has measurements so you can see if it's completely out of reach.
Even though I love tall boots, I've pretty much given up on them. I don't like the way they look on my legs even if I can get the calf to fit the way I want. Now, I wear shorter shaft boots. Motorcycle boots are about the height. My Hunter rain boots are about the same height, and I just bought the first boots Vespasia posted.
Honestly, I don't wear short skirts in the winter months, which would be the only time I'd be showing off a knee-height boot... the shorter ones look good with longer skirts, and with pants. I haven't bitten the bullet to try them with skinnies, but I think they'd look pretty OK.
I posted this in the other thread, but 6pm.com has some Frye boots at amazing prices right now.
Examples (stuff I like, YMMV)... they have a TON more styles... Here
I have been trying to convince myself that I don't need a pair of cognac riding boots in addition to the black ones that I already have. This is not helping. Lol.

Most wide calf boots measure 16.5" from what I've looked at. I don't think there's anyway that could be stretched.
So I'm really jonesing for some over the knee riding boots in cognac leather but all I keep finding are brown or black ones and while nice, aren't exactly what I'm looking for. Anyone want to accept the challenge?

I just got the Talbots fall catalog. WANT IT ALL!
This also highlights why I like fall and winter fashion better. I really just don't like my legs and arms and find myself looking more polished and more comfortable in long sleeves and dresses with tights and whatnot.
Pick a cami of any of the colors in the skirt or white or black. Tuck in. Pair with a jean jacket or cardigan of a color different from the cami but from the same options above (though I wouldn't do white & black on top; I'd pull at least one of the colors from the skirt).

yes and pair with metallic shoes and jewelry.
You could go with the gray and then wear your palamino lippy!
Thanks to you guys I'm seriously considering the LE tweed coat now. I need a winter coat (true need- I have one coat for ~ 30 degree weather and that's it).
I have fallen into the procrastination rabbit hole of clothing websites. I may have to start using Pinterest to save some of these looks. I've found some beautiful tweed coats, but the ones that I keep wanting to send sbp's way are pricey.
So I went and looked at when I got my wool coat.
It was mid-September. They were running a 40% off sale. Got it for $163 with tax and free shipping.

Can someone tell me what shoes I'm supposed to wear with the drapey pants and fancy sweats that are out now? I'm all for not wearing real pants if I don't have to, but I've only seen them with open-toed sandals and other unrealistic-for-the-northeast-autumn styles.
I'm wearing a pair of black drapey pants today, and I love them. The only problem is that the waistband keeps slipping above my belly button (thank you, DD, for making sure I'll never have a waist again). I have them paired with a pair of black flats, which looks okay.

close toe heels, booties, does a belt help with the pants?

If we're talking winter coats I have to plug my L.L.Bean ones. I have two pea coats from them: one wool in light blue, and one wool/cashmere blend in red. I have had the red one since high school, so it is 10+ years old at this point, and still in great condition (and I wear the crap out of it). Both hit the right compromise of warmth and stylishness.

Yes - booties! I've been looking for an excuse to buy some. No bent - the pants are drawstring/elastic.
