I want to rock leggings this year, but I don't know how. Exactly how much of your ass is supposed to be covered? How long do the tops need to be? I tried this last year and decided everything in my closet was too short.

this depends on what kind of lady you are. I am firmly in the leggings aren't pants camp so I recommend at least tunic length.

I vote entirely.
Maybe you can get some of the really tight, stretchy jeans? Those are a little better with stuff that's just a bit short.

A top should cover your whole crotch in leggings. That's really the danger zone, more so than your butt.
Can someone tell me what shoes I'm supposed to wear with the drapey pants and fancy sweats that are out now? I'm all for not wearing real pants if I don't have to, but I've only seen them with open-toed sandals and other unrealistic-for-the-northeast-autumn styles.
I'm wearing a pair of black drapey pants today, and I love them. The only problem is that the waistband keeps slipping above my belly button (thank you, DD, for making sure I'll never have a waist again). I have them paired with a pair of black flats, which looks okay.
I like them with pointed toes if you are going to go the flats route. At least, that's what I wear with mine. I really think they look best with heels but I walk way too much at work to do heels.

Yes!
I cannot be the only one old enough to remember wearing palazzo pants. Can I?
Oh. Or if you could find a really cute pair of oxfords? That could work.

Ok. But....I was looking on pintrest last night and that's not what I saw, which is why I asked. Where do you buy these tops?

Tunics aren't always easy to find during fall, but Target has long sweaters with a scoop neck this season. You can also do shirttails under a chunky sweater.
These are from Target. They have a bajillion colors. ETA: the second one also comes in V-neck.
On the topic of knee-high socks that stick out of boots, do we have a preference between these:
I have four pairs of boots I'd like them to work with: black matte Wellies, grey suede, black leather, and brown leather. They're knit patterns I'm trying to decide between so don't worry about the color as they appear in the picture (although I'd love to hear color suggestions as well).
ETA: Regardless of color, I like the first ones more. The second read a little sporty to me, so I think that would limit the look. A burgundy would be pretty.
I love it. Wearing it today with skinny jeans, riding boots and a white tank.
Where is that from?
I found it randomly on pinterest, here is the link to the store Piace Boutique. It's a store in Bloomington, IN. When I ordered it, it was on back order so it took 2 months to get but shipping was free.

I really, really wish there were an online mall of sorts. Or a way to create my own mall. Something that I could type 'yellow wool coat' and it would give me the selections from all of my favorite stores that I religiously shop at. Maybe a way to throw a 'surpise' store in every once in awhile so I was exposed to something new. There is an app for this, right?

I think shopstyle does something like that but it's only their participating retailers. I use it as a guide to whether or not my want is realistic or imaginary, like my never ending quest for the perfect black flats and gray heels.

I want this and also for them to combine my purchases so I only pay shipping once and wait for one package.
What I really want, is someone to do a style profile on me, pick out stuff, I give feedback, we settle on some pieces, and then they go to the mall and buy it all for me and send it to my doorstop. I want to be able to do this all online because I've done a really good job of using my too-busy-for-phone calls schedule to cover up the real reason I don't like to talk to people, socially awkward introvert.
I'm willing to pay a premium, which I realize makes the "save on shipping" thing moot, but I have unreasonable issues with buying just one thing at a time online, and it stops me from getting good stuff when I see it.
Basically, stitch fix, but with stuff I know I'll like, reasonably priced, and some feedback before they send me random shit. And better reviews.

That is an interesting idea. Burgandy would look nice with all my boot options. Thanks!
Can I just say I hate all of you who are able to wear sweaters right now? It's been in the 90's all week and it's going to near 100 this weekend. This is the first time it's gotten that hot where I live all summer. In September!!!
I realize they are still in beta and have a few things to work out (mainly that the stylists often suggested items that are sold out in the sizes you need), but I really liked what my stylist picked for me. Their selections come from Nordstrom and Asos only though so if you don't like those stores... (I kind of feel like Asos has something for everybody. So does Nordstrom.).
Speaking of which...I should try it again for fall.

I would gladly trade. I'm having a complete meltdown because it is 48 outside and raining. Too early...way too early. I still haven't worn all my cute summer stuff yet.

FYI, Costco has some really nice v-neck sweaters for $12.99. I just got three - a deep red, a royal purple, and a bluish teal. Love them and can't wait for it to get cool enough to wear them.
They hit low hip on me (5'4") so they should work for y'all people. The sleeves are loooong but for $13, I can cuff them.
I'm going to get a couple of scarves and maybe a new pair of shoes. Gray knit skirt, black tights, sweater, scarf = harpy fall wardrobe almost complete.
I went shopping this weekend and why is it 50 shades of oatmeal in the stores right now? That non-color is probably the worst for me, right next to breast-fed-baby-poop-yellow stores like to call mustard yellow. Nope.

Where are all the saturated jewel tones??!?
seriously, I've been wondering the same thing. When the H&M catalog came in the mail with their ugly diarrhea color I was so disappointed
