I will preface this by saying I do not have favebook.
I have done several beachbody programs and although the name may imply shallow intentions the programs really are not that way. The focus is on setting goals for strength and fitness. They never talk about having an ideal "beachbody" it is more about pushing yourself to be the best you can be. Many of the developers and success stories are people that overcame huge obstacles to be strong for themselves and their families. I am fairly convinced that without the structure and motivational nature of a beachbody program I may not have been able to lose enough weight to concieve A. everyone needs something different from a fitness program, I found success with beachbody and hot yoga when my knees were too wrecked to run anymore. rubber pants I heart you
this implies best=skinny, and i do not agree with that
again, i don't think physical activity is terrible. i just don't agree with messages that you need to be thin in order to have worth.
Actually it doesn't. The focus is on strength, endurance, etc. You are to challenge yourself to achieve your best. There is no discussion of becoming skinny. It is about becoming strong. Obviously toned muscles will make you leaner but the emphasis is on becoming a stronger you. Also I am not skinny so take that for what you will
Bacon is delicious! Pretty much anything wrapped in bacon is delicious. Sorry jfh, I hope we can still be friends. I do like cute little piggies, I just can't think about their future.
I will probably never own fluorescent shoes, it would highlight my large feet.
I only get glazed yeast, glazed chocolate cake and glazed blueberry munchkins. They will put whatever you want in that little box, just like ordering a dozen of whatever you want.
I've never been on a train or subway. The last time I was on a public bus was when I was a Freshman in high school. FL living.
I'm not in love with the name either. I love bacon. FFTC? J has an I love bacon shirt. But he doesn't eat it.

FFTC - Lillian loves bacon. She's only had it at the IL's, so not too often.
I don't think there's anything wrong with the kids eating bacon! I mean it's bacon, but everything in moderation. If it comes from an animal, it will not be ingested by my picky toddler. Unless it's milk or a chicken nugget.
James Patterson books are terrible. There were several good ones back in the beginning but overall, a high percentage of them are just bad.
I will still read one if it's free but I'll read pretty much anything.
It just pisses me off that he puts out a new book (now not even written by him, its James Patterson & some random writer who actually wrote it and just cut himn in I assume) and it goes right on the bestseller list

so if you're not strong you're not good enough. i still have a problem with that!
i mean, they are selling a product. and it's working. their "strong is better" is what sells their product. and i get that. i just don't like the implications.
^also, that's obviously not limited to the BB brand.

I feel like you have a problem with everything health and fitness related. It's always something. Like, should we all just accept who we are and never strive to be better? Never strive to be stonger, faster, healthier...god forbid thinner?
DDd donuts are meh. I like donuts from a place around here called Heav'nly Donuts. YUM. They have Boston Creme muffins now, too. LOVE THEM.
I hate their coffee though. Besides 1 or 2 jelly donuts a year I don't really indulge. I was so disappointed when I got an iced coffee there and it was just not very good.

I'm not sure you're reading all my posts. I'm very supportive of C25K, for example. And I've openly talked about how I started it because my post pregnancy body was broken.
I'm just against the INDUSTRY. I mean, that's not something I made up. That's something that is very well covered in the media or anywhere on the internet.
I mean, is this really the first time you've heard criticism of such things? And do you really not think that calling a workout program that where the coaches are encouraged to show before/after photos of stomachs "BEACH BODY" is sending a message that if you have a soft tummy, you don't have a "beach body"?

I've also openly talked about how getting a personal trainer and working in a small training group was very motivating for me. And that I didn't lose any weight. But I can walk up a flight of stairs without getting winded. And I sleep better. And I'm generally happier.
And, yeah, I'm more comfortable on the beach in a 2-piece swimsuit. But my before/after would look the same.

I really don't think it's bad that people work out! And I know I'm not always clear when I type things out, but I've been pretty clear in saying that in addition to saying that I don't have any feelings against the coaches. But I hate the marketing!!! I really hate it!!!!!

But that's all stuff that works for you. I just seems, to me, that you are constantly criticizing other aspects of the "industry" but they work for other people. Everyone has different motivating factors. Not wanting to go on the beach with a flabby, soft stomach is a motivating factor for me. So, you don't agree with the term "Beachbody" or the message it sends, but others are fine with it. Obviously, since it's highly successful. I doubt that the series "flabby, but that's ok" would be quite so successful.

Honestly, I don't like the name itself either but I do have to stick up for the videos here since I have actually done many of them. From a video perspective, not a business one, they definitely do not insinuate that if you are not strong, you are not good enough. I have used several different trainer video lines and I never ever got that impression. They are more about giving you the confidence that you can indeed do it and that you should push yourself and that you are stronger than you think. They never imply that are not strong enough, quite the opposite actually.
admittedly, i've only ever seen the tummy FB posts.

How would you market something then? A new exercise program?Maybe you should create something Dixee! I am being serious.

I did Chalene's Turbo Jam videos as my primary source of exercise for a long time. I loved them. I had them all! She was a little cheesy sometimes, but the overall tone was encouraging.
I don't think wanting to be stronger or thinner is a bad thing. It's not always coming from a disordered place.

See, this is how I thought too. But it makes me want to cry a million tears to ever think that my daughters would be uncomfortable going to the beach because they are fat.
There is a "fat yoga" movement right now that is actually very successful in its early stages. Also, Curves was very successful.

sadly, i'm not 'there' yet. but i really hope the next generation is able to get beyond where i am.
