I got one last year when I was PG, which was the first time (not sure why, but whatever), and I will get one again this year (especially since I teach high school).

I'm getting mine in October. My employer offers them to all employees, free of charge. The flu darn near killed me in college, so give me the chemically fun filled shot. Up until my unfortunate run in with the flu,I never had a flu shot. Now, I won't miss one and neither will anyone else in my family.
I will be getting one. There is a very real part of me that would rather die than get H1N1 again and I have serious regrets that my forgetfulness is probably the reason why my little sister got it too. It was a reality check that I need to do what I can to protect them until they are old enough to make their own vaccine decisions. I am also TDaP and chicken pox updated this year, yay!
I will be devastated if I get it anyway, it took months before my lungs felt 100% healed after this last flu.

Oh yes. DD got her first of two at her 9 month appt last week. She gets her booster and DS gets his mid-October. I will get mine at Walgreens next week and DH gets his through work.
DH got influenza A in March and he was down for the count. I got him in for tamiflu and they said the meds plus having had the shot should shorten its run, and they were right. He was completely down for another 24 hours after the meds but was fever free within six hours.
DD was so little (12 weeks) when it happened. I was scared and went through a lot of cleaning wipes and Lysol that week.
Definitely; I'd rather not wear a mask at work until April. One of my coworkers has a legit allergy and can't get one, and her patients always think she's sick and are scared to have her as their nurse.
I had a nurse on the surgical floor (the norm floor I'm on when I'm admitted with abdominal issues) have this exact problem. She had a lot of elderly confused people not wanting her as a nurse and didn't understand that she could get really sick by getting the flu shot.
I'd like to get a flu shot, but I don't know what the doctor will say, being that I had pneumonia pretty bad that hospitalized me for a week in May. I'll ask when I see him in 2 weeks

They are not available through my insurance yet, but I am getting one as soon as I can. A few years ago H and I had the flu at the same time. I don't know how we managed to survive being delirious from 104+ fevers at the same time.
I don't usually get a flu shot and am pretty sure I've never had the full blown flu. Is this something I need to get now?
Please talk with your Dr. When I was pregnant, back in 2010, I had to get a special kind of flu shot at a hospital sponsored clinic. aka Could not just walk into Walgreens and ask for a shot.
I'll be getting one, and I'll take W to get one too. SIL has a compromised immune system, so it's a no brainer. (Will my husband, her own brother, get one? Probably not) Plus, with a new teaching job, it's a mix of not wanting to miss school if I can help it and knowing I'm being exposed to all sorts of stuff I'm not used to this year. They tell me that the fun of "1st Year Teacher Catches Everything" is not just for those teaching little ones, sigh.

I get one every year because I have a heart condition and my cardiologist recommends I get one. And the one year I didn't get one I got the flu and it kicked my ass so damn hard.
My H won't get one, because of the year he got the swine flu mist and then got really sick afterwards. He blames the mist. I think he must have already been getting sick and that just set it off.
I never had one up until two years ago and I had never had the flu. Now that I work in patient care you bet that I will be getting it (well, and it's required). Oh, and the things I have seen people do on public transportation has also confirmed my decision.
I definitely get one every year, although I'm the idiot who swears I have a low fever, chills, body aches the next day. It's been explained to many times that it's not possible yet I always feel a little shitty for a day.
My H works at a nursing home, so it's either get the shot or wear a mask. He begrudgingly gets it but tells me he doesn't believe in them.
The years we've gotten the shots we haven't gotten the flu.

Low-grade fever, headaches, and muscle aches can be a side effect of the shot. So, you're not an idiot. I had that one year after my shot, too.
