Not me, but my brother's name is Jesse. I get so annoyed on his behalf when people spell it Jessie. No. He's male. It's Jesse.
I am one of the legion of Jens in the world, so I'm rarely misspelled. But the worst botch job is the local Fox morning news person named Jennaphr Frederick. (I had to look up to confirm the spelling because its so awful)
I hate her, and it's 50% because she's annoying as shit and 50% because her name is stupid.
My mom calls my son Ben-jer-men. It's JA-MIN, dammit!
It's funny I find my Dh doing that same thing with our Ben-ja-min... so when we was first born I would say ben-jammin.... so that he's get the ja part of the name!
Andrey. Lol. I can see how it happens, but he's been dealing with it his whole life and he gets so irritated that people think he's a dude named Audrey.
Quoting for two reasons. Andrey is an AWESOME name. Love it. War and Peace!
And, my H loathes his name too. It's Todd. LOL. He thinks it makes him sound "like a douchebag".
This is one reason why I am glad my name is a month. Everyone knows it. There is no other spelling unless you are using a different language which is wrong and not my name. Hah.
Is the difference whether the first syllable rhymes with "Car" or "Care"?
Yep. I pretty much can't say Sah-ra though, so they were all Sare-a to me.
I've always said it to rhyme with Care. I knew a Sarah who pronounced her name so the first a rhymed with the a in "at". I found it so grating but it was HER name.
My way is the right way! Really, I've always thought it looks prettier and more symmetrical with two Is. (No offense, Ohhmm(bligo)!) I think Kristin and Kristen were similar in popularity around the time I was born, but now I'm pretty sure Kristen is more common, and it seems most people default to that spelling. My BIL's new wife is named Kristen. I mean, of all the fish in the sea!
The only other variations I've seen are Kristyn and Cristen. The Kristyn was my age, so her name was given long before the gratuitous Y usage got out of hand. And spelled with a C is so rare, and yet I am constantly asked, "with a C?"
It's one of my biggest pet peeves. My name is a pretty popular and I actually think the way I spell it is the most common but there are other ways and people are constantly getting wrong. It especially annoys when they spell it wrong when they are replying to my emails... It's right there spelled correctly!
I know this wasn't the point of this thread, but I'm right there with you. A good chunk of the birthday messages I get on FB have my name spelled wrong too.
We'll just have to agree to disagree. lol. The worst offender I've seen was Emmaleigh -- where else but the bump?
All the pre-baby panic I had over whether to name her Kristen or Kristin, and I've never ONCE been asked. I'm always asked if it's with a K or a C. I've never even met a C.

Pretty sure very few people spell their name the way my mom decided to spell it. It's not an odd name but definitely a different spelling than the usual. She changed some letters up and took some out. I never ever try to correct anyone.
