DS doesn't get anything. I think he should, but I can't think of a song to sing, and I won't sing Sunshine b/c that's DD's song, so I hope someone gives me some ideas. I don't know what Swinging on a Star is.
Yes. Always have. And ever since I found out you were singing Twinkle Twinkle to DS, that's been our designated song at home for naps/bedtime. I liked the idea of staying consistent with the same tune. And now it's super special.
DH sings some made up song to DS. I suggested when DS was itty bitty that he create his own little routine when doing bedtime. The song he made up is something along the lines of "going to bed, lay down your head, you sleepy head". LOL
My go-to is Rock-a-Bye Sweet Baby James (except I sing Sweet Big Boy Hart)
He asked me to sing it the other night and stopped me to ask why deep greens and blues were the colors I choose. I told him we'd have to write Mr. James Taylor and ask why he chose those particular colors, lol.

If he demands a song yes while he's on the changer and I'm getting his diaper and pj's on. He will yell "Qwee Qwee!" Which is "twinkle twinkle little star" or "EIEIO" Which is Old MacDonald (he only wants me to sing about pigs and cows though). He will chime in with the words he knows.

My h also makes up songs for the boys. I laughed so hard listening to him changing the words to the stones song "you can't always get what you want". My ds2 is very attached to me lately and he cried when I left the room and I over heard h singing
You can't always get what you want But if you cry sometimes You might just find that dad's good enough.

Sometimes. Less now than I used to. He asks for different songs but in our regular rotation are Puff the Magic Dragon, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Hush Little Baby, Lemon Tree and our "lullaby" song which is just me and him singing the word lullaby over and over.

I sang Daisy " A you're adorable" religiously when she was a baby to somewhere past 2. It was part of her bedtime/naptime routine and I swear that song would make her sleepy just hearing it.
Clara really liked " Daisy, Daisy-Bicycle Built for two". It was sweet and I honestly think she thought we were just singing about her sister:). Her hero worship is still going strong.

not every night, but most. Since he was born DH has sung A Pirate Looks at Forty (Jimmy Buffet), The Gambler (Kenny Rogers) and Fee (Phish) not totally child appropriate, but those were the songs he knew all the words too. Now our 2 year old can belt all of them out. I generally stick to You are My Sunshine.

My kids love it, it's part of our routine. They now are 5 and 8. It used to be your are my sunshine and buy you a mockingbird, but now they have higher expectations. I've recently had to teach myself the words to American Pie, Leaving on a Jet Plane, and Runaway Train (I have no idea where they first heard this song but they love it). I drew the line at Stairway to Heaven. My kids are special snowflakes, lol.

DS1 doesn't any longer, we talk about his day instead, then read books and tuck him in.
DS2 chooses between Old MacDonald, ABC's, Twinkle Twinkle, the 50 States, Row Row Row Your Boat and Baa Baa Blavk Sheep. Lately he just wants an extended version of Old MacDonald.
DS3 gets ABC's and Twinkle, Twinkle. If I'm not ready to put him down yet I'll sing the 50 States. Lol I needed more songs when DS1 was a baby and that was one I knew that was long and had a cadence to it so it's worked it's way into the routine.
I sing "the moon song" (I see the moon) to O every night. And a song I made up for L when she was born (that she named "mommy so loves"), with modified O lyrics.
L will request the moon song and her version of mommy so loves every now and again. We are also required to "talk about stuff." Which means we ask one another about our days and our favorite part of our days.

DS is almost three and I still sing him ABC Song, Rock a bye baby, Twinkle Twinkle and Itsy Bitsy spider every time I put him to bed. DH also sings to him when he puts him to bed but I'm not sure which songs.

sometimes - but I am really really bad and rarely know words - so he gets "Jesus Loves Me" and "Hush Little Baby" (where even then I flub the words) and "rock a bye baby"
