I could see fitting two more kids here...not that we are having more. We use the 4th bedroom for our office so the main level study could be a parlor. E's room is almost as big as the master so I would have no issue putting two kids in there.

It's about 2400sq ft including the bonus room. 3 bed, 2.5 bath. We went for an open foyer but I kind of wish we had the 4th bed instead. We could always split the bonus into a bed and another bath if needed though, so it's cool.
1200 sq ft? Only 1 kid, room for another. We have a finished basement so when we have a second kid we will move the guest room down there.
We are toying with the idea of moving in the next couple of years. I really like our house and our neighborhood but the layout of our house is not ideal. It's technically 4 different levels and that makes it hard to use a lot of the space we have.
You have to have more than that. My old house was 1200 sq ft.

We live in a 1038 sq ft 2 bed and 1 bath row house. It is 11 feet wide at the widest part. My upstairs hallway is also an office. A sleeps in a room at the end of the house that was bathroom and now is supposed to be the hallway to the deck. It is too small for a twin, but the toddler bed fits fine.
When they are big enough for bunk beds they will share a room as long as possible. If they were the same sex they would share indefinitely, but since they are not we probably need an alternate plan. Three more feet on the back and a bathroom in the laundry room would work.
If we find the right house we would consider moving. I don't want to leave the neighborhood, but I also don't want to give up having a yard. I also don't want to go much bigger, one more bedroom or bathroom would be fine.
3500, 4 bed, 3 bath. Us, O, and two big dogs. I'd be surprised if we move, but we're always on the lookout for land. It's plenty big and there is a bedroom we hardly ever use, but we use all the other space regularly.

not sure, maybe 1200 at most. 2 bed and 1 bath plus a bonus room upstairs that could be a bedroom. we have 1 kid and no pets. it is too small for me. i hate having only 1 bath and the "master" bedroom is too small, but i like the living and dining rooms. we really couldn't have another kid in this house. it is temporary though.
our last house that we moved from last year, was also 1200 but 3 bed and 2 bath. i didn't like the kitchen and living layout though. great bedrooms though.
around 2400 would be ideal for me. i need 2 bathrooms, good closet space, and min. 3 bedrooms b/c i want another kid. i don't want to clean more than that!

2200 square feet. 4 bedroom 2.5 bath. We currently have 1 child but will have more (1, possibly 2). I wish it had a basement and we would be good to stay. We lack storage.

Current house: 1200 sq feet 2 bed, 1 bath The 1 bath is annoying. Room sharing is not working well because ds doesn't sleep through the night. We also have a boy and a girl, so at some point that will be weird. The size is okay, but it would be nice to have a rec room.
New house: 1200 sq feet 3 bed, 2 bath with a 1200 sq feet unfinished basement The layout is more functional. The bedrooms are smaller, but we only sleep in them anyway. We are planning on finishing a large part of the basement to add a 4th bedroom, rec room, and office.
This is not a post I want to win with the smallest house
Where are the other ppl that live in a box?
1080 sqft, 3 bedroom, 1 bath, 1 car garage. 2 kids. It's got a big lot for the city. We bought it with the intent to knock it down and build a bigger house.
About 1250, 2 bed/1 bath + a very small office. One kiddo and 2 cats sharing the space. It is actually the perfect size for me, but we will end up moving into something smaller next year when we move to a higher COL area. We are probably looking at 2/1 and about 1000 sq. feet to stay in our price range. I think we will be ok with that as long as there is outside storage for bikes, etc.

Ours is 2500 square feet. 3 bedrooms plus an office (no door). It is definitely not big enough for us. We have no guest room, so my parents have to stay in a hotel when they visit. We also have no storage at all.
We plan to add on to the house. We're going to build a "wing" -- 2.5 car garage on the bottom, bedrooms above. Possibly a new laundry room downstairs, and maybe a new office since our current office would become the walkway to the new part of the house. We'd add on at least 1500 square feet.

It's 3200 sq ft. It's actually a town home but looks and feels like a house. We have 3 bedrooms, a bonus room (playroom) and a loft/ office. 2 1/2 baths. It's great!
Our house is 1650 square feet, with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and an office. I love it and want to stay here for awhile longer, but it will definitely be small when we have another baby. Right now, DD uses the third bedroom for a playroom, so she'll move into that room when we have a baby. We're planning to stay here until our second child (who hasn't yet been born... or conceived) finishes elementary school, since we're zoned for the best elementary school in town.
When we build our "forever house," it will probably be about 3,000 square feet with 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, offices for both DH and I, and TONS AND TONS of storage space.
About 2200sqft 4br, 3ba. One of the br is downstairs and is tiny so is only functional as an office and for occasional guests. We have 2 kids and are comfortable, but I wouldn't mind more space. A third kid here would mean two of the kids would have to share, which isn't ideal to me. I would love a bonus room, but have no plans to move anytime soon. I really love this house.
How big is your house (# of rooms and square footage)?
How many kids do you have?
Will you need to move to be comfortable if you have more kids?
*brought to you by a client asking me if we wanted to buy their home but I think it might be too big for us*
We are closing on our house on Friday.
1350 sq. ft. (Just over 2000 when including basement). 3 bedrooms, 1.5 bath, plus plan to build a 3/4 bath down the road. We have 1 child and will probably have 1 more. We will not have to move because this is more than enough space for us.
We have 2400 sq ft plus a full unfinished basement - so I guess another 1000 sq ft? 4 bed / 2.5 bath / .5 acres
We have one kid but plan on at least one more. We bought the house with the intention that we'd stay here forever. I do love it, but the closets are SMALL. DH uses the closet in one of the guest bedrooms, which doubles as the office. We plan to finish the basement at some point.
A little bit over 1,600 square feet in the house. 3 bed, 2.5 bath. If it had one more bedroom we may live here forever. We have 1 kid, plan on a 2nd and lately I've been feeling like I want a 3rd. It's important to me to have a guest room as my parents visit frequently.
ETA: we paid $172/ square foot to build it in 2009. It has an amazing kitchen. I'm a kitchen snob.
We just built a new house. I feel like its massive! We have 4000 sq ft of finished space, plus a gym, storage space, and a 700 sq ft "bunker" - we have a full space UNDER the garage that is kinda like a giant cold cellar. It may eventually be a movie theatre. We also have another cold cellar that we may turn into an official wine cellar.
We have the smallest house on our new street. I am not sure what all the other houses do with their space.
936 square ft. 2 bed 1 bath. It's small but functional. We redid every inch of it when we bought it 4 years ago. We definitely need something bigger but we live in HCOL and are already pushing 2300/month and I don't want to drown in higher payments.
About 2100 Sq ft. 4 bedrooms, 3 people. It's a good space. DSs room is upstairs, we're down. I think when he gets older, that will be a good separation! Which is the other factor - layout. Which i'm sure others have mentioned. You can have 3000 poorly laid out feet and it sucks or 1500 wonderfully laid out sq feet that is perfect.
I just spent over an hour on floor planner planning out a 2nd floor addition. The unfortunate truth is that by the time we can afford to do the addition, it will be too late to have a 3rd and then there is really no point in having an addition, lol.

1760 sq ft. 4 bedroom ranch (one in the finished basement, so not included in sq ft), 2.5 baths. We have plenty of space, storage, and a great layout, but I'd prefer the bedrooms to be more private/2nd story.
