3500 sq ft including the finished basement. Was 5 bed, 3.5 bath but we turned one bedroom into a laundry room. We plan on staying here for the long haul.

About 2600 sq ft, 4 bed, 2.5 baths. DS is an only. We plan on this being our forever home, though we've toyed a bit with maybe moving (just to the next town) to get a house with a basement.
1800 square feet. We just downsized to be able to live on 7 acres. We will be crammed in but the kids being able to run around outside and the neighborhood made it worth it. We will most likely have another kid in a few years and we are planning on building a larger house on the land.

1,350 sq. ft, 3 bedrooms, 1 bath. Detached garage with space for 3 cars and a fenced-in sideyard. Unfinished basement...because it's 2/3 crawlspace and 1/3 dirt-floor, stone cellar. (Our house is 110 years old.)
We have 1 kid. It would be doable with 2 kids, but I don't want to do that. Storage is an issue as it is. Our 3rd bedroom is currently mostly used for storage and houses our desktop computer and printer, as well as a beer fridge and a chest freezer.
Regardless of whether or not we have another kid, I want a bigger house with a better layout and more land.
How big is your house (# of rooms and square footage)? 3000sf. It's listed as 1500sf, but it's 1500sf of regular living space over a fully finished basement and full 2-car garage. So it's a hell of a lot more 'living' space than just the upstairs, IMO. Once DS is older, and IF we're still living here** we'll allow him to move down there as his BR if he wants. There's no bathroom down there, but there IS a spot in the garage that could be a bathroom and there is a door access to the garage from the basement BR. So it's totally possible and do-able if we 'had' to stay put. It would not be the end of the world, at all.
We have 3 BR's upstairs and 1 full bathroom and 1 3/4 bathroom (the master, too ^o)) and there is a full den space, 2 huge storage closets, and 1 full BR in the basement. We need to resolve a water issue -- we have a dehumidifyer running at all times down there - DH hooked it up to a hose so it pumps when needed, but it's not ideal right now.
How many kids do you have? 1
Will you need to move to be comfortable if you have more kids? No. I want 1 more.
** Our ultimate plan is to move in 5-10 years to the mo' better H.S. in the next neighborhood over. It's literally behind our neighborhood where the ever so slightly better H.S. border begins. :^) And we're talking oranges and tangerines here. It's not like we'd be in a vastly different H.S. setting for DS.... but the Veruca Salt within me wannnnnnnnnnnts to live over therrrrrrrrrre. So, we'll see.
This is not a post I want to win with the smallest house
Where are the other ppl that live in a box?
We live in a 700 square foot one-bedroom apartment. We've been living in this apartment since before we were married, but now that we have a little one, we definitely need more room. There is so little room for her to crawl, and her gear takes up a good portion of the limited space we have. We're hoping to purchase a house this time next year, which I'm relieved about because the lack of space is driving me crazy, but it also makes me sad because it means moving away from our neighborhood, which I love.
It about 2800sq ft upstairs and the finished basement brings the sq ft to about 4000.
5 bedrooms, 5 full bathrooms.
We have three kids. It definitely big enough. We plan to stay in it forever. We bought at the very bottom of the market in 2008 so we got a great deal on it.
We do not plan on having more kids but no, if we did, we would not need to move.
The only bad thing, space-wise, about our house is that we don't have a basement. We don't need it for living area - we have a family room, living room, and a huge "den" that is currently a playroom and will eventually be a second family room - but storage sure would be nice.
We don't have a usable attic. I am really regretting that we did not upgrade this when we built our house. For $3k we could have had a functional attic above our garage with pull down stairs. At the time $3k seemed nuts. Now I'm realizing it wasn't nuts at all. If we ever finish our basement we will have very limited storage.
Including newly refinished basement, 2700 sq ft. 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths. Sometimes I think it's too big for our needs (on a regular day we don't touch the sitting room or two bedrooms) but I know we'll grow into it when second kid comes. The finished basement made it seem a lot bigger because we were able to expand out a bit.
3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, open floor plan for the kitchen/dining/living room area. 2 bedrooms are on the first floor, and the master takes up the entire 3rd. But the house tapers as you go up.
The entire 2nd floor is basically an open bonus/family room.
We don't have a basement, but have a sizeable crawl space with lighting.
1 car garage, large deck off of dining area, and pretty small front and backyards. The back is fenced, which is awesome.
We have very limited closet space in our public areas, which sucks. I'm always at a loss with large things like the vacuum, linens, cleaning supplies, and extra pantry items. (Because do we use the hall closet as a pantry, linen closet, or for storage/cleaning supplies?!)
Within the next few years we will be moving and building. (Overhauling DH's childhood home completely, and adding a 2nd floor.) I can't wait to have more storage space. I am SO organized when I have a place to put things. After the overhaul, well end up with 4-5 bedrooms, 3-4 bathrooms, an office, formal living room, formal dining room, etc. There's also a basement apartment we need to decide what to do with. Exciting, but STRESSFUL when the time comes.
We have 1 kid, and won't have more than 2. Probably just the 1, though.
If we weren't overhauling his childhood home, we would be upgrading to a larger home in a similar timeframe, regardless. We don't need more space, but we want more space for functionality and happiness.
1500 sq ft, 3 bed/2 bath. It's fine for us with 1 kid. Could fit 2 but we'd have to get rid of a bunch of stuff and it would probably still feel tight.
We are in the early stages of building our next house. We want to move to have more room inside and out. New house will be on 4 acres. Inside will be somewhere around 3200 sq ft. 4 bed/4 bath plus a study. I wanted 5 beds but my husband wouldn't do it. This house will be great for 2 or 3 kids. If we have 4 then things might get tight again (which sounds ridiculous to say with a 3000+ house). My parents joke that we should build them a guest house in the back.

We have about 3200 sq feet plus a finished basement, which can't be included in MLS estimates around here. I'd guess it's about 1200 sq ft. We have 5 BR and 4.5 baths.
Right now we just have one kid, but we'd like at least 2 more, and I'd like to do foster care someday, so we wanted lots of room. We hope we never move again, at least not until we're retired and kids out of the house.
~1700 sq ft. 3 bed/2 bath. We have a flex room which we use as a den but if we had more kids then we would turn it into a guest room. It would be tight if we had more than 2.
A little over 1500sq ft. 3 bedrooms and an office upstairs/1.5 bath.
We have 3 kids.
We will likely move to a 4 bedroom in several years. But right now we are fine. Homes in my town are really expensive (median home price is up over 900k now). So it will be a few years before we can afford something bigger. We do not want to leave our town. And we absolutely do not want to leave our elementary school district since it is the best in the state.
It's funny, growing up I thought I would want/need a big house like I grew up in. It was about 3000sq ft. But it was in CO and homes are much more affordable there than they are here. Here you adjust and get used to smaller homes because they cost so damn much!!! My mom sold my childhood home this summer for 250k less than I paid for our house that is half the size!
We'll have 3 kids in a couple months and I wish we had a 4th bedroom and 2 full bathrooms.
We can all fit in this house but would be more comfortable with an extra bedroom. We won't move though because this is the school district we want and we can't afford a bigger house while staying within the district.
Haha, this is exactly us. Same kid configuration and same sized 3 bd, 1.5 bath colonial. We make it work because we won't leave our town and school district and can't afford more at the moment!

Our house was about 2400 sq. ft. before our addition...not sure what it is now, maybe 2900ish? That includes 4 bedrooms (legally we could say 5 since the 1st floor office meets the requirements), 2 1/2 baths. Part of the basement is finished, as well, but I don't know if that's included in the sq. footage totals. In any case, it's plenty big for us, even if we had more kids which we won't b/c our youngest is 8 and this factory has long since closed. :-)
Our house is 2750sf including about 750 sf of basement......4 bedroom, 3 1/2 bathrooms. 2 kids.
I honestly wish my common areas were larger. We have enough bedrooms, but we have lots of house guests for the holidays and birthdays, and I wish I had a formal dining room and a larger kitchen. And a 3+ car garage to store all of our bikes.
I keep checking back thinking there is some drama going down.
Nope, we really all just want to list our house stats. lol
right? i was actually angry at myself for answering about my boring house bc i know no one will read it or GAF by now lol.
I am still reading and still care, lol. I find it fascinating to read about how other people live. I am also really interested in how much space people want to have.

I am always amazed at how much houses cost there and what people will buy. Someone knocked down a little house on a large lot, two doors down from my parents, and built a really ugly, huge duplex with no yard. Each side went for over 800k. It is ridiculous.

They keep doing that- knocking down small homes and.building massive multi families with no yards! The town tried to stop it by passing something where any house built before a certain year had to be approved by the committee before it could be torn down but it didn't pass. But it was bascaly designed to stop this.

@awinter, I hadn't heard about that. It is sad that it didn't pass. My parents have remodeled theirs several times and it is much larger than it was when I was growing up, but they still have a yard, and from the front it still looks the same as it it did.
How big is your house (# of rooms and square footage)? 4 Bed 2.5 Bath / 2200 SF
How many kids do you have? 2
Will you need to move to be comfortable if you have more kids? yes (SF is great now but would work better if it were more functional....ie 500 SF is formal living area )
*brought to you by a client asking me if we wanted to buy their home but I think it might be too big for us*
