My office has so much cologne and perfume. It's so overwhelming and nauseating! I can tell who has been in the breakroom before me. It's too much!
One of the orderlies at the hospital when Violet was born was an offender. All she did was come into my room far enough to change the garbage and take the linens and her perfume stench pervaded the entire room. Not cool.
Oh no. there should be a no scent policy in healthcare settings. Maybe that's an UO!
I think I'v said this here before, but I hate when my inlaws are at my house for many reasons, but a major one is that their cologne and perfume take over the house. And my kids smell like them because they hug them and what not. I think it was TrudyCampbell who had this issue, too.
She married into a group of leeches. Alright, royalty annoys me. They are a useless bunch of people who cost others a lot of money. I don't hate her in particular, I just don't find her fascinating. She is just a person.
I think that the royal family generates something like 800 million a year in tourism revenue and provides 2 million jobs...it's like real life Disney! =)
Do people in England get annoyed at all by the royal family?? I mean they must spend a shit load of tax dollars (errr pounds) just being fashionable lol
I guess I just don't see the point of the royal family at all.
I could be making this up but I read something about the tourist money the royal family brings in is a reason they keep royalty. It's keeps Britain in the news, people go to see their palaces/faces and people buy tacky souvenirs about them.

Kate probably gets a lot given or loaned to her since she is such a fashion icon and people want to recreate her looks. Add me to the club of not caring about royals though. Just doesn't make sense to me.
I'm just going to say that monarchy is still the most stable form of government in history. It has problems but Britain's constitutional monarchy has real advantages.
I will definitely try out your version, but do you have any other recipes with it? The browned butter recipe seems to be the only recipe out there.
Except.... (and I saw from you web site that you've never been to Old Spaghetti Factory), I found their recipe for Garlic Mizithra, which blows their regular mizithra out of the water in my opinion. :0) I can't wait to make that.

But they don't govern...right? Parliament has all the say.
They are mostly figureheads now. They still help the government by performing functions that the prime minister doesn't have to do. They also could step in and be more active if necessary.

Kind of scary.
But statistically not scary at all.
I clearly am a freedom-loving American but as a historian it is hard to deny the practicality of a monarchy. And I think keeping constitutional monarchies in Europe is smart. It lets politicians be something other than international stars, it provides a national identity not wrapped up in politics.
I don't get hating the monarchy unless you hate the Bush and Clinton families as well.
It would irritate me immensely to not be able to TOT on the actual day of Halloween.
Yeah if we ever move to the burbs, I'll have to inquire on how Halloween works because I could never live in a town where Halloween was any day other than the 31st.

Yes - our TOT is scheduled for the 30th. WHY??? I get cancelling or moving it due to weather (we live in Ohio - last year there was thundering, cold temps, etc, so they moved it to Sat), but why not having it scheduled for the 31st??? I don't get it.
It blows. Our ToT is this Sunday. I'm trying to find something for us to do on Halloween, even if it means driving to a neighboring town to walk around for a bit.

I feel like that can't be that popular. I have lived in 3 cities recently, all in burb like areas, and none of them have done it any day but the 31st.

Ok this blows my weekend reasoning on the window. Why would Thursday be better than Friday?

Oh but I do hate them as well.
But seriously, and I do not have even a smidge of your intelligence on the matter, we are talking about people who currently have zero experience in politics. And maybe that would be for the better but probably not. The thought of any of them having or needing to take over positions of political power is frightening. Back in the day, they at least had the power already and grew up with it. It seems to me though, that royal families in history were not such nice people. Correct me if I am wrong.

I know right?? I don't know who makes these rules.

I think some places do that due to football games on a Friday night.
Oh - I didn't think about this. BUT kids don't TOT when they're in high school do they? I don't think we did. Personally, I think they should schedule it for the 31st - who ever can make it, makes it??
We covered a lot of topics last week. What is left that we can talk about this week?
Religion? Gay marriage? prostitution? Fad diets? Kate Middleton?
I'll bite.
Religion: nice idea in theory to have a belief in something in times of hardship. Also, a great way to control people's actions. I happily celebrate any and all fun religious holidays, but I don't participate any further. Happy Diwali!
Gay marriage: how is this still a debate in some places? Marriage is a basic right in the U.S. that should be available to all people regardless of race, religion, social group, ethnicity, OR SEXUAL ORIENTATION. The argument that marriage is only for procreation makes me the most ragey. My husband and I wed with no plans to ever procreate. The law should probably have stopped us.
Prostitution: I believe that women have the right to use their bodies as they see fit, and a model that legalizes (and taxes and provides health checks) makes so much more sense than keeping sexworkers hidden from view and penalizing them when they're often the victims. On the other hand, I hear so many horrific stories of trafficking victims in my line of work, so the dark, oppressive side of prostitution clouds my ability to believe in the possibility of a safe, clean, non-exploitative sex trade.
Fad diets: generally ridiculous. Also generally have been tried by me
Kate Middleton: I love her grace and poise, but I hate that we're due at the same time so I'll have to watch her lithely glide through pregnancy as I waddle and grunt. Jessica Simpson was far more fun to share a birth date with.
So, Re: TOTing not on the 31st, our mayor actually addressed why our TOTing is this weekend instead of next Friday. He was asked why not do it on Halloween (and why it's on a school night), and this was his response "We actually attempted to do just that my first year in office. Halloween fell on a Wednesday and parents with children in CCD were upset. We then discovered we could not have it Friday night or Saturday night either due to football games. Monday is out because City Council and several other agencies have their weekly meetings. We settled on Sunday evenings as the best option left available."
I'm a bad townie because I have no clue what CCD is though.
CCD- credit card debt?
Those poor kids with credit card debt not being allowed to ToT on Halloween.
Candy Crunching Disorder? Maybe their jaws are extra sensitive on Wednesday?
